January 21st, 2025 - 10:20amJust seen that it’s London Toy Fair this week, does anyone know if we’re likely to see anything Who related this year?

January 21st, 2025 - 1:53pmCharacter Options is on the exhibitor list, as well as something called ‘BBC Studios Lounge’ which seems to be digital stuff rather than toys.
There’s no evidence there’s any new Doctor Who stuff, but we can hope! I belive it was last years show when we saw the 15th / Ruby prototypes for the first time

January 21st, 2025 - 5:24pmThe one thing I thought we’d get back with RTD and the only production time back in place was toys and figures. Oh dear, there really is no interest π

January 21st, 2025 - 6:29pmTbf I think it’s really primarily down to it being a different era of the world now. Personally, no matter how good new Doctor Who is now (which isn’t very, imo) I don’t see kids buying toys for it (baring in mind, kids are ultimately the target audience they’re trying to get interested in action figures). Back in 2005, we grew up without smartphones and that kind of thing. Entertainment was entirely different, we got toys, just as the generations before us did. But now, growing up is a whole different ball game, more so than any other generation that’s existed previously, and, in my opinion, I really don’t think kids are that interested in toys anymore in the way they used to be. Maybe I’m wrong, but if you have a kid that can have a smartphone that can do so much, have hundreds of games on it, hundreds of videos, etc, I really don’t think most of them would be interested in action figures as much as we were.
Demdike@CultLabs
January 21st, 2025 - 7:47pm@Moodbeam – what toys and figures were you expecting? There was nothing from the last series you could really make a figure of. There was nothing to compare to Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans etc.
Until there’s something to make they won’t do it.

January 15th, 2025 - 5:53pmRIP The late great Christopher Benjamin.
He and Trevor Baxter were the perfect Robert Holmes pairing in Talons of Weng Chiang.
A great character actor who will be sorely missed.

January 15th, 2025 - 6:33pmHeart breaking news, the iconic duo now both gone. One of the best guest actors that have graced Doctor Who and he will always be remembered

January 15th, 2025 - 7:36pmThat’s very sad news indeed. Talons my favourite ever story and own all jago and litefooton cd. Having googled I can’t find info, where did u find our?

January 15th, 2025 - 9:20pmAgreed. Great in Inferno as well. Hearing this sad news, got me wondering how many guest actors who appeared in season 7 are left .
RIP Christopher and thank you.

January 15th, 2025 - 9:23pmI just Googled Christopher Benjamin Wikipedia and it has the 15th of January 2025 as when he died stating he was 90 years Old?

January 16th, 2025 - 4:34pmOh that’s so weird I happen to be in the middle of Talons (just watched Episode 4) in my watchthrough of all of Classic Doctor Who. Very sad to hear this! He’s certainly been excellent in it! RIP Christopher Benjamin. π

January 14th, 2025 - 2:23amBoo boo I noticed you closed the comments on the companions book, the usual nonsense I take it, but I know someone was asking when it’s due. The book is currently at the printers so it won’t be too long before its sent out, remembering the print time, delivery to candy jar and then delivery from them to customers of course.

January 12th, 2025 - 3:47amHello! I have only recently learned about the Unofficial Doctor Who Annuals and Terraqueous Distributors. From what I have seen, there is a total of nine titles (1972, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1997, 2074, The Omnibus, Monsters From Outer Space, and soon, The Celestial Toyroom)? I know how quickly Doctor Who related things go out of print and disappear. Is there a way for me to purchase all of the aforementioned books (and have them shipped to Canada)? Please advise. Thank you!

January 12th, 2025 - 5:48amYour best bet would be to try their actual Official Twitter or Facebook accounts for information?
Otherwise it’s the secondary market like eBay or Amazon, unfortunately price’s for these are horrendous!

January 7th, 2025 - 9:10pmSeems all the classic episodes are removed from britbox and itv x only now available on bbc I player :/
Gordon
January 7th, 2025 - 10:45pmIt went last week. Not too shocked. End of December is about the time of year it would normally get renewed. I knew it got renewed last year but I always suspected that with some of the iPlayer episodes going and Britbox officially closing in April in the uk I suspected similar would happen with itvx.
Tom Williams
January 7th, 2025 - 11:30pmVery odd then Gordon when it only popped up on my news feed with tvzone website guess people without blu ray players would now find it harder too steam all the episodes with i player after removing certain ones last year :/
Gordon
January 8th, 2025 - 1:16amIt was never going to be a permanent thing on Britbox/itvx especially when bbc studios share of Britbox got bought out. It was only a matter of time before itv dropped it. Even more so when iPlayer got the episodes. I suspect with the majority of it now being on iPlayer the view count on ITVX dropped a significant amount this year that ITVX realised it was no longer worth the asking price renewing it in the uk for the low view count. I know it maybe sad for those that donβt use dvd or iPlayer but ITVX has no obligation to continuously house those episodes.

January 4th, 2025 - 12:56amI missed the Christmas Special, does the 15th Doctor actually wear that nice red coat he wears in one of the promo pictures in the actual episode? I haven’t seen any footage or screenshots of him wearing it, only his normal orange coat and a dressing gown.
The DR.
January 4th, 2025 - 12:32pmI could be wrong but just from memory, no. I only remember him in his usual long Leather Coat. (and a brief appearance of him in the Dressing gown)?
daz
January 4th, 2025 - 3:39pmThe coat was never red in reality. Just his normal coat photoshopped for the publicity artwork as red screams Christmas.

January 4th, 2025 - 4:07pmAh that’s a shame, I thought it looked very good.

January 2nd, 2025 - 12:17pmJust watched taby hadoke’s 2024 in memoriam on YouTube. Ahh, Ian chesterton… I’d forgotten Pamela Salem had gone and didn’t know David a Mcintee had died. There are a surprising amount of big finish and new who people gone. Oh and Arnold yarrow (bellal in death to the daleks) was 104 when he died!

December 31st, 2024 - 4:11pmA couple of years back I thought Andrew Pixley deserved an MBE for his television research like DWM archives, and setting the benchmark for how these things should be done. No one in the trade who was able to put forward the recommendation (knew him personally) showed even the slightest bit of interest when I suggested it to them, which really disappointed me.

December 17th, 2024 - 5:12pmOh my. Just been watching the Yorkshire Auction house on TV Tonight and they went to John Culshaws house to sell off some of his unwanted possessions. He said I want to sell some of my old Vinyls and out pops the Evil of the Daleks and Dalek Master plan Boxsets.
