Just to say for anyone interested:

Timetraveltv have a large sale on at the moment. Was looking on their website and was happily shocked to find Doctors collections and a few other things going for only £4 each. Got 13 dvds
When they’re sold out they’re gone for good apparently

For the curious, these are the remaining stocks of the pressed discs of Reeltime Pictures compilations.

What’s the likelyhood of Character Options releasing a 14th Doctor sonic screwdriver accessory for the 14th Doctor figure?

I guess it depends on how he is rereleased, I’d imagine in a B&M set the likelihood is quite low, but I’d guess if we see some kind of Character Online ‘Vortex’ version like with Ruby and 15, he’d probably come with one, and maybe a couple of other accessories too

Very very low I would assume, given the actual figure is very hard to get hold of. Also imagine the size of the packaging just for a 5.5 inch scale sonic 🙂

Don’t know if anyone else has seen it but theres a jaw dropping model of the ‘Kinda’ protective suit used by Richard Todd’s expedition on facebook. I never expected to be amazed by something based on Kinda a story I never liked much ! But this is amazing. I know I cant give a link But its the Doctor Who figurine collection group.

And these 3D printed are the extension to the eaglemoss collection we,ve been crying out for since eaglemoss folded and they are for the most part superior even if the models do require painting.
Its great that they have also started to include decals which does help limited or non painters a lot.
Scifi collector are still supposed to be continuing the range for Master Replicas that eaglemoss originally wanted to complete but need to pull their finger out as more recently there are more printers willing to accommodate the smaller range and seem to be getting more creative with the more obscure, filling in those gaps we thought we would never see.

It’s not you specifically, its just keeping unlicensed merchandise talk to minimum.

Unfortunately booboo from what Ive seen the unlicensed sellers are sadly trouncing the licensed merchandisers when really it should be the other way round. Normally I wouldnt mention them but that suit from Kinda – and Im sure you’ll agree – has to be seen to be believed !

Doesn’t bother me what they do, these hobby sellers can put their own time and resources into it on a small scale without any of the substantial costs and legalities for licenced products, and sometimes produce something better because of that. It really depends on how much of a blind eye the BBC or rights holders want to give.

I noticed earlier today that Character Options put the standard 15th Sonic up for sale on their website and now they’ve just put up the standard 15 and Ruby figures too.

Here’s a bit of an odd question, what’s more popular, the Character Options line or the Eaglemoss models?

      Character Options by a mile

I must Admit I prefer the Character Options figures. The Face Sculpts and overall Sculpting are Lovely. The Paintworks Great and of course all the Articulation. Whereas the Eaglemoss figures are just badly painted “Statues”.
Im not knocking Eaglemoss as I collect both lines, but you have to be Honest about these things.

Figures/Figurines I like from the past Twenty Years in Order From Favourite to Least Favourite are Big Chief, Robert Harrops, Character Options, Eaglemoss.

Just wish character options would get their finger out and produce more classic stuff along the lines of the voords , sensorites and silurians. There’s a lot of popular stuff for them to cover. A Wheel cyberman and the revelation Arthur Stengos dalek would be very nice additions. As for the yeti well…

I completely agree The DR! I’m not meaning to knock Eaglemoss by saying this, but I’ve always wondered the appeal of their models in comparison to the CO figures. I once asked in a stream chat ‘out of curiosity, why do people get the Eaglemoss models when the Character figures are, in my opinion, more detailed and plus you can articulate them to whatever pose you wish’ which seemingly annoyed an Eaglemoss collector quite a bit, who replied snarkily ‘Maybe because I’m too old to be buying toys.’
Personally, I don’t really see how buying figures from a science fiction show is that much more childish than buying statues from a science fiction show, but never mind lol. His answer ignored my point that, if you’re going to collect such things, why get small, badly painted statues instead of more detailed, articulated versions. I guess simply what I perceive as, the superiority of the CO line in every way. But that’s just my opinion, of course, and I’m likely biased. I still respect the Eaglemoss models!

Eaglemoss launched with a subscription service at the height of popularity and exposure around the 50th with Bonus Daleks and specials, once hooked in and subscribed most carried on with money take automatically and delivered to you doorstep, they did stuff CO will never do although some of the painting wasn’t good generally the “monsters” were fine. It would never work on the same scale today. I suspect sales were much lower than expected for the Tardis’s which is why they have ended up in B&M.

I collect both but tbf you can’t really compare action figures to figurines. Total different scale, materials and function, although as a Whovian they end up in a display case.

I do love having my full eaglemoss dalek collection on display alongside my now very selective CO display though.

      November 13th, 2024 - 3:37pm

Certainly Character Options for me. The detail and paint jobs are better and the articulation helps when fitting them all on shelves.
But those reasons are kind of obvious given the size and style difference. I do have some Eaglemoss figures, but stuck to ones that filled gaps in what I wanted but CO never did. The monsters and aliens were generally good, but I’d skip the human or timelord figures.
Got to give me obligatory shout out to Warlord Games though. These were my favourite range overall, incredible detail for the size and I’ve really enjoyed painting them (although I understand that isn’t to everyone’s liking). Still sorry to have that range end, making my last few sets last!

FH, Don’t go on the Eaglemoss Facebook page and ask the Members if they Prefer The Eaglemoss Figurines or the Character Options Figures and Vice Versa don’t go on any Character Options Custom Sites and ask them the same Question, as I Guarantee you’ll know the Answer Without even asking. Collectors/Fans are all different and like Different things.
I do prefer the CO figures myself though.

Eaglemoss used to be brilliant, detailed figures, they were accurate in size, sculpt, paint, they really went in depth to achieve a perfect likeness and mini representation of the character/monster. But then before long as the money started coming in, they just abandoned the detail, care, accuracy and they became a lot lower quality, they probably shipped them out to get painted cheaply elsewhere

That’s not Great, I remember a Couple of years ago alot of Big Chief Stuff started showing up at B&M and a lot of People started to wonder why.

They have been on the B&M system at £19.99 for a while, the deal was done with MR weeks ago it seems.

      November 11th, 2024 - 12:54pm

I haven’t bought anything from MR yet, but 19.99 for a Eaglemoss TARDIS seems a bargain. I should imagine the people that bought the TARDIS Direct from MR payed more?

    • booboo

      November 11th, 2024 - 12:55pm

£29.99, however I’m seeing a lot of problems with them.

The TARDIS’ are mostly awful. I have drawn a line under those and hope the saucer and midscale daleks are more successful.

      November 11th, 2024 - 4:12pm

They’re not exactly endearing themselves to customers, are they? If I’d bought direct I would be fuming, and if not for the dodgy sticker windows on the promo pics I probably would have done.

    • Pipkin

      November 11th, 2024 - 6:24pm

The dodgy stickers are only a part of it. Aside from all the faults, the 4th doctor TARDIS which was at the time of preordering exclusive only to club members and i was informed that only 1 could be purchased per club member.
Now it seems multiple items are being sold on ebay. I asked customer services how this was happening and was told customers can order more than one which was news to me. So unless you are buying from multiple franchises the £89 club fee was no good if you were only interested in Who. Its just an insult and a con when the only way they could make their club exclusive was by gatekeeping this one TARDIS model which is now widely available for some to multibuy and sell on for nearly double the price and thats not counting the ones who are just selling their one offs on.
      Never again.

What size is the ‘midscale ‘ dalek ? Same as the character options one ?
