She’s got ice in her heart and a kiss on her lips…
1939, New York. Private Eye, Melody Malone, is hired to find a stolen ruby, the Eye of Horus. The ruby might hold the secret to the location of Cleopatra’s tomb – but everyone who comes into contact with it dies. Can Melody escape the ruby’s curse?
1939, New York. River Song, author of the Melody Malone Mysteries, is forced to find a reality-altering weapon, the Eye of Horus – but everyone who comes into contact with it dies. River doesn’t believe in curses – but is she wrong?
From the top-security confines of Stormcage to the barbarism of first-century Egypt, River battles to find the Eye of Horus before its powers are used to transform the universe. To succeed, she must team up with a most unlikely ally – her own fictional alter ego, Melody. And together they must solve another mystery: Is fiction changing into fact – or is fact changing into fiction?

May 21st, 2021 - 1:50pmIt was a bit of a relief when I got the email today as I was a bit concerned. Oh by the way, ringing waterstones is the best option for uk customers as it’s freephone and they are quite efficient. Email takes longer.

May 20th, 2021 - 1:15pmI preordered this ages ago but just realized some people received them back around the 9th of May? Have they all be sent out then
booboo

May 20th, 2021 - 3:23pmI’ve just had a dispatch notification for mine. It’s from FP.
Anonymous
May 20th, 2021 - 1:07pmNo idea what’s going on with Waterstones? No dispatch email or anything & it’s due out today!
PiersS
May 20th, 2021 - 1:29pmSame. Mine shows as still processing on Waterstones, been that way since order placed day of announcement.
FP book arrived weeks ago.
Anonymous
May 20th, 2021 - 2:32pmDifferent distributors. Waterstones and fp use different distributors which means waterstones haven’t had the deliveries of the book in order to send them out. All orders at waterstones have a holding placement of processing. It’s annoying the book hasn’t been sent but we’ll just have to wait.
booboo
May 20th, 2021 - 2:37pmif they have not had the book, presumably she has not been able to sign them yet either?
Anonymous
May 20th, 2021 - 3:15pmPhoned waterstones, they are going to look into it and email later. Will let you all know the outcome.

May 20th, 2021 - 9:16pmI emailed them Tuesday & have received nothing back from them! Will be phoning them this Monday to find out what’s happening??

May 7th, 2021 - 11:32amMy Forbidden Planet signed copy has been delivered today………….. No bookplate!……… Fantastic – Alex’s autograph is in the book itself.
Anonymous
May 7th, 2021 - 5:30pmIs it the Cover picture as advertised above (Which has been used on all adverts from FP, Amazon & Waterstone’s etc)?
Anonymous
May 7th, 2021 - 8:40pmYes it is the same cover.
Alex has signed autograph inside on the title page.

April 29th, 2021 - 3:03pmThey’ve taken the money, so.we should find out soon!

April 27th, 2021 - 12:59pmI’ve had two different answers off Forbidden Planet; an email response saying it’s bookplates and a Facebook response saying
“ That was her really signing real books. We always flag if an item is a bookplated edition.”
So it’s still 50/50 haha
bryan
April 27th, 2021 - 3:42pmWhatever it is. its Gone. no more orders .
I hope its a Book signed, but if it is a bookplate , its no different to waterstones, except price. it hit the £20 the FB price in postage is £16.99
I would love all the covers Titled in sharpie pen 🙂 But poor Alex would need a splint on her wrist.
Anonymous
April 27th, 2021 - 3:45pmMost of the recent waterstones book plate editions I’ve bought have been a physically signed book.
Anonymous
April 26th, 2021 - 10:50pmAre there two different versions of this book? The one pictured has a completely different font for ‘The Ruby’s Curse’ which is cleaner & more clear & the one I prefer. The picture with Alex Kingston holding the book show’s a different & messy font which I don’t like at all – Is this version the final book cover?
Alex C
April 27th, 2021 - 1:22amIt looks like Alex wrote the title with the Sharpie, since it’s the same colour. Maybe the FB version is without the title so Alex can write it? I have no idea.
Anonymous
April 27th, 2021 - 7:34amI don’t think Alex would want to sign 800+ copies in marker pen with ‘The Ruby’s Curse’ when she has to sign her signature as well! Booboo do you have a more definitive answer?
booboo
April 27th, 2021 - 8:12amno idea, 90% sure it was to be bookplate unless what she is holding is the bookplate that just fits inside, or a second cover just for signing that has the name missing, bit confusing
Anonymous
April 27th, 2021 - 12:13pmThe more you look at the photo the less it looks like she’s holding a physical book. Think that is the book plate.
Anonymous
April 27th, 2021 - 1:00pmWonder if that’s the bookplate she’s holding and the space where the title should be is where the Signature usually goes. But since this photo is for promotion purposes she’s wrote the title on this one instead.
booboo
April 27th, 2021 - 1:03pmthat’s what i think, or its a second cover just for signing
Anonymous
April 27th, 2021 - 4:06pmWell I have ordered both – Will just have to see what turn’s up & choose from the 2 copies what I think is the better version? This is starting to become a habit now (Which is extremely annoying!) that companies cannot give a truthful & direct answer to a simple question! They must know what they are selling, especially as it’s just a month away from release. All very irritating as usual!
Anonymous
May 27th, 2021 - 8:39pmI have now received both my copies: One from FP & the other from Waterstones. I must admit I’m very taken with the Waterstones Bookplate version, but do prefer the Signed version from FP. I shall keep the Signed version & sell off the Bookplate version.
Lake Note
April 26th, 2021 - 10:17pmI can’t wait to see a River adventure through Alex Kingston’s, I love River Song, so I ordered both signed books and the audiobook as well! <3
PiersS
April 27th, 2021 - 1:33pmI’ve ordered both signed books too! There’s an audiobook? I must have missed that *goes to order it*
Anonymous
April 25th, 2021 - 11:28amMy recent signed book plate editions from waterstones include richard osman and stephen fry. Both books feature a page physically inside the book that is signed by the author.
Anonymous
April 25th, 2021 - 1:12pmShould have clarified. The edition are referred to as book plate but a full page is added to the book at printing which the author’s have then signed.
Anonymous
April 25th, 2021 - 11:10amThe recently signed Target FP books had the bookplate glued in, so it looked like part of the book.
If that helps?
CyberLewis
April 24th, 2021 - 8:31pmIs the actually book signed from forbidden planet and just a bookplate from Waterstones?
Anonymous
April 24th, 2021 - 11:04pmI would also be interested to know if the FP Version is an actual Signature & not a Bookplate? Any further info on this ?
Anonymous
April 25th, 2021 - 9:56amConsidering the target books were book plates I’d presume this would be as well
booboo
April 25th, 2021 - 10:19amFP usually say i will try to find out
booboo
April 25th, 2021 - 10:40amat this stage its bookplate unless something changes
