‘We must get to the bottom of this dark and queer business, no matter what the cost!’

Something ghastly is afoot in Victorian Yorkshire. Something that kills. Bodies are washing up in the canal, their skin a waxy, glowing red… But just what is this crimson horror?

Madam Vastra, Jenny and Strax are despatched to investigate the mystery. Strangely reluctant to assist their enquiries is Mrs Winifred Gillyflower, matriarch of ‘Sweetville’, a seemingly utopian workers’ community.

Why do all roads lead to the team’s old friends Clara and the Doctor?

Who is Mrs Gillyflower’s mysterious silent partner Mr Sweet?

And will the motley gang be in time to defeat the mysterious power that threatens all the world with its poison?

Do anyone have those new Target books and can confirm their spines are similar? I have so far only three new ones (Rose, Day of the Doctor and Twice Upon) and they have matching spines, I was wondering if the rest will follow that same pattern (I am weird that way, I like things to match). 🙂

From the last proofs I saw, the spines all lined up and had the Target logo on them. No idea if that has changed or not but I can’t see it.

Apparently it’s been confirmed all spines will match including witchfinders which has new logo on cover but “target logo” on spine.

So looking forward to these , and So positive of the Cover reveals, but this one seems lacking.

No paternoster Gang, which seems a shame, No Mrs Gillyflower, which seems a bigger shame. I dont know how use of Actors images works now,and how expensive it is to clear. No Clara .

I agree about the companions on the covers, Clara, rose, paternoster gang and grace would gave been nice but considering how many of the original books didn’t even have the doctor on we should be happy with what they have done (and I am, they look glorious)

I think they should do nightmare in silver considering that it was originally planned to be a 2 partner, novelising it would allow for it to be expanded upon a lot more. I also hope we get more capaldi stories in future…

This is definitely a buy. Liked this episode and I am curious about how Mark Gatiss will novelize it.

It’s a long shot, but I would love if Neil Gaiman adapted The Doctor’s Wife.

I image he would be up for doing both his stories its whether he has the time and his agent/publisher agrees that he can do them. I would love doctor’s wife!

I can see why they picked this one for novelising as they can cover the flashback scenes with the Doctor and Clara in much more detail, rather than rush through them as the tv episode did.

I wished these were released monthly on a regular basic

I’ve been saying that since they did the first reprints in 2012. At this rate I’ll never see all the TV stories novelised!

Up to the end of Series 11, it will take until the early 2030s at least to see all the new series novelised at the rate of one a month, even if you combine two part stories into one book. They can’t come soon enough for me!

Really pleased gatiss is involved with target. Just need him to do cold war, empress of Mars and unquiet dead now! (3 stories high on my list of wanted novels)

I’d like him to do Victory of the Daleks or Night Terrors as we don’t have an Amy Pond novelisation yet, but I’d like either of the Ice Warrior ones after them!

Pleasantly surprised they went with Crimson Horror 🙂

Was expecting them to go through all the “big” ones first (finales, specials, etc.) and I do love me some Clara. That and I’ve always felt like Series 7 is a bit underrated, plus it’ll be good to see Matt’s Doctor get a novelisation he doesn’t have to share with any other Doctors, so I’m thoroughly pleased to see this happening on all fronts.

Especially as 11/Clara were rather underrepresented in the novels

    The titles are;

    Dalek
    The TV movie
    Resurrection of the Daleks
    revelation of the Daleks
    The crimson Horror
    Pirate Planet
    The Witchfinders.

Been thinking, given that two of these were announced as being the resurrection and revelation paperbacks, assuming that there are only 3 and no others are announced then I wonder if given that the first two are the Eric saward paperbacks if the third will be a Jodie book. Resolution would be an obvious choice given the others are dalek books

Id like to see then novelize a new series 2-parter I’d say Ecclestone you adapt Bad Wolf and Parting of the Ways, Tennant Either Impossible Planet/Satan Pit or Stolen Earth/Journey’s End, Matt Smith in Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon and for Capaldi The Magician’s Apprentice/The Witch’s Familiar.

But also i would like to see either The Woman Who Fell To Earth or Resolution novelized

      Army of ghosts/ doomsday
      The Eleventh Hour
      Under the Lake/Before the flood
      It takes you away

Resurrection and Revelation were never published before 2020 due to Eric Saward not doing them so they’re not reprints.
