Record Store Day is the one day of the year when over 200 independent record shops all across the UK come together to celebrate their unique culture. Special vinyl releases are made exclusively for the day and many shops and cities host artist performances and events to mark the occasion.
Thousands more shops celebrate the day around the globe in what’s become one of the biggest annual events on the music calendar. The first Record Store Day was officially kicked off by Metallica in San Francisco in 2008 and is now held every third Saturday in April.

Never before released on vinyl, are these two lovingly restored soundtracks to the only big screen Doctor Who films ever made – the 1965 release DR. WHO AND THE DALEKS and 1966 DALEKS: INVASION EARTH 2150 A.D.
The music was composed by Malcom Lockyer (DR. WHO AND THE DALEKS) and Bill McGuffie (DALEKS: INVASION EARTH 2150 A.D.) with sections enhanced by electronic sounds created by Barry Gray, famed for his work with Gerry Anderson. The album also includes contemporary single releases and a gatefold sleeve featuring memorabilia, including the original poster artwork and detailed production notes.

March 9th, 2016 - 7:12pmTotally understand and probably the right thing to do. I too collect the vinyl versions of anything Doctor Who but it stays in cellophane if it was new enough to come in it. There is no need for it to go under the needle as a CD version will suffice, and as often is the case, the CD version does not get listened to either as I just stick to the CDs of Big Finish and BBC Worldwide; surely that is enough for most fans to keep up with

March 9th, 2016 - 8:28pmPerhaps not, but during the 80s and 90s, VHS was a god-send. DVD is good from a space saving point of view and Blu-Ray is nothing short of perpetual disappointment for some.
VHS should never come back, but its place in Doctor Who history is far far more significant than any format that came afterwards. Fans over the age of 35, will recognise that.

March 10th, 2016 - 9:28amHi MickeySmith07, just a friendly tip – I don’t know if you’ve ‘done’ Record Store Day before but the way it works, often, is that you need to join the queue really early in the morning before the shop opens and wait for a few hours (really) to be in with a chance of getting what you want. Quantities vary – 750 is at the lower/scarcer end of the RSD spectrum – and many shops might only get 1 copy of an item. You can’t reserve. So, set your alarm and take a good book (or chat with strangers in the queue, that’s always quite a laugh 🙂 ) but don’t swing by at 11am or whatever and hope you can just pick one up and buy it, chances are it’ll be gone by then. I’ve often been surprised at what goes within the first 10 minutes of the doors opening, but then these days, you are competing with the savvy scalper looking to make a buck on eBay.
