Figurine Questions to Eaglemoss – The Answers
Put your Figurine Questions to Eaglemoss – Answers
Below are the answers given to questions recently sent in. Some have been combined or answered as a group.
Questions were answered by the editor of the Doctor Who Figurine Collection. He was not able to answer questions connected to subscriptions or delivery as this is dealt with by a different department.
One of the most overwhelming questions asked was if collectors could have any input into futures issues, especially classic figures. With that in mind we have now set up our own polls, the results of which will be forwarded on in the future.
With thanks to Neil Corry and all those who sent questions in.
Special Issue Questions:
How many special magazines will there be and how often will they come out? Sean Bassett (Similar question asked by Jack webster, Mark and Stewart)
There are four planned specials due out over the course of the next 12 months. Answer by Eaglemoss
Do you have any specials planned specifically aimed at the 50th anniversary? Frank (Similar question asked by Davros)
Nothing exactly specific, but we are celebrating 50 years of the TARDIS, with the TARDIS figurine due out the week after the anniversary special. Answer by Eaglemoss
Have any consoles been considered as specials? Liam (Similar questions asked by Tim, John and Frank)
Sadly, not. We wouldn’t discount doing consoles as specials, but none are planned as yet. Answer by Eaglemoss
Would there been any chance of a kandyman? Mike
I think it would be great to do the Kandyman, but he’s not on the list… yet… Answer by Eaglemoss
I compiled a list of Daleks that need to be reproduced, see them at http://transmattrev.tumblr.com/
My other real “wants” are a Whomobile from the Pertwee era and a Gallifrey “snow” Dome
I hope that these suggestions are of assistance to you in your persuit of the best Doctor Who collectables. Trev Carter
I am wondering would be ever see Bessie in the collection as a special issue possibly and would they be in scale with the other figures?
Also will we see some Big Finish based figures such as the Dalek time controller and the 8th doctor in his dark eyes costume? Luke Ryan (Similar question on Bessie asked by Sam, Louise, Mark and Richard.)
Will The Whomobile be part of the collection? Joshua Duffy (who also mention Bessie)
Have you looked into being able to use The Daleks and Characters from the Movies? Peter
I love the suggestions about the Whomobile and the Gallifrey dome. We are focussing, however, on characters. As for Daleks, we think we have them covered… Our licence is with the BBC. At the moment I don’t see that we’ll be covering figures based on Big Finish characters or the Peter Cushing movies. Answer by Eaglemoss
Figure Questions:
I was wondering if you had any plans for releasing any companions or vehicles in the future?
I really think figures such as Susan, Sarah-Jane and Clara would be brilliant and some of the best figures in the series!
Maybe just some of the vital companions, so see which companions fans would want to see and make the top five favourites? Ben
There might be plans for one or two special companions in the pipeline. Nothing confirmed yet.
As for “vital companions” – they’re all as important as each other to us. Answer by Eaglemoss
Are there any figures you are aware of that you cant do? Gary (Similar question asked by Anonymous)
If they’re in Doctor Who made by the BBC from 1963 to 1989, in 1996, and from 2005 we can make figures of them. Answer by Eaglemoss
I’m very pleased with the collection so far but the current list of figures to be released have no companions? a very important part of the Doctor who story as important as the Doctor himself.
Will you be adding the Doctors companions?
Also could it be possible that more than 80 figures could be produced? Adrian Porter
I understand that along the line of the figurines (which are fantastic by the way), there will be a Tenth Doctor figurine and even a Fourth Doctor figurine in the future.
Does this mean that figurines of all the Doctors will be released, including Peter Capaldi and John Hurt?
I am sure fans like myself would love to see figurines of those characters. Also, considering that you are introducing figurines of classic villains such as Omega, can we expect a figurine of a Sea Devil?
I appreciate your time reading my question. Carl Thomas
We plan to make figurines of all of the Doctors. A Sea Devil is in our schedule. Answer by Eaglemoss
I am eager to know
1.) How you will be developing your dusty, cobwebbed 60’s asylum Dalek
2.) If we will see The Ponds and Zoe Herriott among the few companions released?
Thank you in advance 🙂 William Yates, Australia
The dusty 60’s Dalek will be very very cleverly made. That’s all I can say. We have a brilliant man supplying the 3D renders of the Daleks, we send them off to the factory and they make them. What we do is make sure that everything, as far as we possibly can, is right. We love the series. We love making the figurines. Answer by Eaglemoss
I’m a subscriber to the figurine collection, and I’m wondering after issue 10, what will be the next figures in the next 5 to 10 issues be?
Thanks Ryan
11 – Rassilon
12 – Ood Sigma
13 – Dalek Supreme (The Stolen Earth)
14 – Cyberman (Nightmare in Silver)
15 – Omega (Three Doctors) Answer by Eaglemoss
Do you have any plans about a Peter Capaldi figure or backgrounds for the figures? Dr Evil Fez
It’s a yes to Capaldi, but a no to the backgrounds. Answer by Eaglemoss
Is a River Song figure planned? Thank you. Jennifer
Not yet. Sorry! Answer by Eaglemoss
How many of the planned 80 figurines are from the classic series? Leigh Bentley
Not as many as I’d personally like – but that’s only at the moment and may change depending on the success of the figurines. We’d like to do as many companions in the collection as possible. There are one or two coming up that we hope you will like. We’re not going to say who they are at the minute, however.
I’m not going to list the schedules we’re working to. They change – not often, but they do. The list that has appeared on fan sites is an early schedule.
There isn’t, at the moment, an “equal mix” of old and new. The success of Doctor Who since its return in 2005 means we will be focusing on that success. This doesn’t mean we are ignoring the past. We plan to celebrate 50 years of Doctor Who. Answer by Eaglemoss
Is there any way customers of the Doctor Who Figurine Collection could influence what figurines will be included in the collection?
Would Eaglemoss consider a customer poll? Graham Mitchell – FG000196
We’ve done a ton of marketing research, but this isn’t a bad idea at all. We will get back to you. Answer by Eaglemoss
How accurate is the list of the first 60 figures recently revealed?
Assuming the list is accurate isn’t it a little poor – considering that this is a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who – that according to the list that not all of the Doctors are released in the first sixty editions – surely making all of the Doctors available should be a priority of the collection ? John G
I can’t comment on the release of that list as I didn’t do that, and have never worked to the idea that we will be doing 60 issues. I’m certain, however, that the backing board and the information about the whole of the figurine collection that came with issue 1 did expressly say that we would be doing all the Doctors. And we will. Answer by Eaglemoss
General Questions
What’s you favourite figure you have worked on so far and what are you looking forward to the most in the future? Dean
Issue 9’s Ice Warrior from Cold War is so great.
And I really hope that we can do the Terileptil that’s scheduled. But that’s some way down the line so that isn’t absolutely confirmed. Answer by Eaglemoss
The only question I have is why are these not being made available to customers in the USA?
Collectors like myself would be keen to subscribe.
Thank you for your time. ShalkaDoctor
The figures are being released in the US in the very near future. I don’t have a specific date yet. Answer by Eaglemoss
How long does it take to produce a figure from start to finish and do you get to meet any of The Doctors? Ford
It takes about three months from deciding the figure, to having a 3D render made, checked, corrected if necessary, to having a model made, to having a model painted, then checked, corrected, checked again, then approved by the BBC and then more checks made before we finally say “yes”. There’s a lot of to-ing and fro-ing but we are determined to make the best figures we can. Answer by Eaglemoss
Are you pleased with the take up so far? Anthony
Oh, yes. Answer by Eaglemoss
