So have I got this right? No one is absolutely sure what is going to be on the UK DVD Set of Season 7? America is supposedly getting it a month earlier but with more on it including both Xmas Specials & it’s £40 from there not including Postage? So the gist is we are getting dumped on again?

I would have thought after 2 Separate Releases (Parts 1 & 2) & such a long wait we would get a COMPLETE Box Set?

      July 26th, 2013 - 10:17pm

It is really dissapointing how the US are in every aspect basically getting better things than the UK.

      The Amount of episodes (apparentley)

      more bonus features

personally i think a better cover

and an ealier release date than the country its basically made in.

      July 27th, 2013 - 3:37am

I agree! As you said, you can’t really call it the COMPLETE Set. I did not want to buy dribs & drabs of DVD’s – I wanted everything on ONE Box Set so that was why I waited. I expected:

      2011 Xmas Special
First Part Series 7 (5 Episodes)
      2012 Xmas Special
Second Part Series 7 (8 Episodes) PLUS –
      ALL the Special Features

I’m wondering if this is another pathetic attempt by the Marketing lot to screw a few more pennies out of us?

      Well, we shall see…

if doctor the widow the wardrobe are not on here they cant really call it a COMPLETE boxset and that would also mean that many people would have waited nearly two years to get the episode on a full dvd boxset but found out they could have just got a month after it was on telly on dvd because theres no episode.

i liked this episode everyone is allowed there own opinion.

I always found her a bad villan (and not in the good way) although it doesent help the story’s she was in were awful time and the rani and Mark of the rani both terible did you like those story’s ? As for the character herself I never found her acting vary strong

      July 26th, 2013 - 9:36pm

I think Lara Pulver (aka Irene Adler) would make an excellent up to date version of the character.

      July 26th, 2013 - 9:37pm

she was amazing in The mark of the rani. time of the rani she actually acted well in that she was good in dimentions of time aswell

      The darkness?

    • That Random Whovian

      July 26th, 2013 - 9:19pm

Yes! The Darkness sounds epic. And the Dark/the Darkness could be some freaky new villain, which takes the appearance of just shadows and absorbs people’s fear… The more fear they absorb, the stronger they become…? 🙂

    • josh smith

      July 26th, 2013 - 9:27pm

Thats a fantastic idea! And in the end they are controlled by the black Guardian

    • That Random Whovian

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:29pm

I think Series 7 (already my favourite series to date) would have improved dramatically if this was how they had set things out production-wise.

      1. Asylum of the Daleks
      2. A Town Called Mercy
      3. The Power of Three
      4. The Angel’s Take Manhattan (part 1 of 2)
      5. The Last Page (part 2 of 2)
      6. The Snowmen
      7. The Bells of Saint John
      8. The Rings of Akhaten
      9. Hide
      10. Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS
      11. The Crimson Horror
      12. The Fields of Trenzalore (part 1 of 2)
      13. The Name of the Doctor (part 2 of 2)

I’ll explain my changes in a mo!

    • That Random Whovian

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:32pm

So, I’ve got rid of three episodes in favour of two-parters. Dinosaurs on a Spaceship I deleted because, although it was a fun episode, it wasn’t the very best, and didn’t contribute anything to the overall arc.

Cold War I’ve gotten rid of because the Ice Warriors could’ve been given a better opportunity to return in the next series. Cold War was a pretty good episode, it just wasn’t totally necessary at that point.

And this’ll probably be the most controversial, getting rid of Nightmare in Silver. Oh, and once again I’ve run out of space.

    • josh smith

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:35pm

for me series 7 would be this

      Return of Galifrey part 1
      Return of Galifrey part 2
      Return of Galifrey part 3
hide (but with amy and rory)
The rani and the sea monster
the rani and the sea monster part 2
the death of Mr and mrs williams
      The names clara
Invasion of the spoon heads part 1
invasion of the spoon heads part 2
The battle of Waterloo part 1
the battle of Waterloo part 2
      the 4 doctors

    • That Random Whovian

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:38pm

No offence Josh, I think that’s called inventing a series, not improving upon something else 😉 And his it just deleted my explanation for omitting Nightmare in Silver? Not again…

Just as with the Ice Warriors, I think they’re return could’ve waited till next season. Simple as.

And the two-parters speak for themselves. I’ve extended The Name of the Doctor and The Angels Take Manhattan, simply to stretch them out and make them feel less rushed.

    • That Random Whovian

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:39pm

Again, no offence, but might need to work on those titles. The Rani and the Sea Monster doesn’t strike me as being overally attention-grabbing 🙂

    • Matt Smithy

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:42pm

      Neither does “the names Clara”

    • josh smith

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:42pm

its got the rani in it 🙂 She makes a sea monster and he doctors interrupts her experiments but she is able to make one and it grabs roay and stabs him with its stinger. he has 24 hours left to live and the rani captures amy and says you choice doctor. Do you choice amy or roary? (the clif hanger)

    • That Random Whovian

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:46pm

Thinking about the story is always a good thing. For instance, could it be set on an island? Perhaps the Rani is in hiding/disguised, concocting some mysertious experiment unbeknown to the people of the village there. Perhaps the island could be hidden, tucked away from the rest of civilization. Now you have a plot, you have the beginning of a title. How about The Forgotten Island? Only a suggestion 🙂

    • That Random Whovian

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:50pm

As for The Names’ Clara. Again, have a think about the story. Yes, it introduces a new companion. How could you get that point into the title without it being corny/cringeworthy? What about simply Oswald?

The Death of Mr and Mrs Williams is another. For starters, it’s too long. Too predictable. Also, far too revealing! But it’s the end of a saga for these two companions, so how about something like The Last Chapter or The Final Problem? 🙂

    • josh smith

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:52pm

yes a brilliant idea. On an island yes. But instead of villagers (to similer to the mark of the rani) maybe creatures form the sea. Yes and she spots the Doctor and captures him and starts experimenting on him aswell to combine DN with fish to turn him into a monster. Is the actor who played the rani stiill alive? if so we can have her regenerate at the end and run off in her TARDIS

    • josh smith

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:54pm

i see your point with the death of Mr and MrS Williams. mabye Planet 51. set in the far future of Earth’s inter planetary empire and they die on this planet. Could see they return of the Moniods?

    • That Random Whovian

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:55pm

Yep, great ideas! And I were thinking of The Mark of the Rani similarites just as I were writing that part 🙂

    • Trenzalore

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:58pm

I think it would be better Amy and Rory die on Earth and story’s set on Earth are always scarier because the threat becomes real kind of.

    • That Random Whovian

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:59pm

I think, with the Rani episode, there needs to be some human prescense other than the Doctor, his companions and the Rani. There’s gotta be some other characters. But it’s always good just to build upon ideas! Keep thinking, it’s the best way to achieve. I myself love writing Doctor Who scripts. My favourite that I completed was entitled ‘A Bad Day at the Office’. It ignored continuity about Clara/Oswin, and sort of introduced the character from the start as if Asylum of the Daleks had never happened. I’ll explain more in my next comment 🙂

    • That Random Whovian

      July 26th, 2013 - 9:02pm

Yep Trenzalore, great idea. It always makes the threat seem more close, more realistic. However, wouldn’t it make for a poignant ending if the Doctor had to bring the Ponds’ bodies back to Earth? Explain to their parents (who everyone seems to have forgotten about. They did appear in The Big Bang). It would make him feel worse and become more of a dark character, I think 🙂

now this one ive been ready for a long time. Galifrey was never destroyed. you see only shielded. they made up the time war so that davros and his daleks can stay away from the Emperors daleks so they can avert a civil war. but galifrey is ready. Lella is the head of Galifrey army and they msss produce K9’s aswell. They call the Doctor to lead them into battle for a complete new life cycle 13 extra lives. They defete the dlaeks but davros getts away

I know Trenzalore, I’d love to see them return. They weren’t in it for long, but they were both really likeable characters 🙁

As for the Return of Gallifrey idea, I’m liking it. I’ve actually been having a think about a Time War story lately. I’d got it mapped out in my head – to begin with they sent a Time Lord Agent to attempt to broker a peace with the Daleks. However, the Agent was assassinated and thus the Time War began. The Doctor had always been against the peace treaty from the off.

I’m imagining lots of immensely cool wand-like screwdriver battles. Or massive sonic spears, which would result in lightsaber-like battles?

I would rather plan the Time War in my head than see it on TV. I think the first would end up being much cooler, and best of all – no budget!! 😀

      July 26th, 2013 - 9:20pm

Sounds very first world war-y 😀

I also posted a second comment about it, with the Time War featuring battles with sonic spears (a bit lightsaber-y) or something like that. It’s apparently awaiting moderation. I wonder why?

A scean form part 2 when the Doctor leela and the high council and the president are talking at the table.

The doctor: You realise what your asking me to do is against everything we believe in! Im not saying i never kill or never hurt people but this!..this is just….insane

The Kastilan; this is your own fault Doctor!. we asked you before to overt the beginning of the daleks but you disobeyed us.

the president: We will reward you with a complete new life cycle. 13 new bodies.

      The Doctor: i can’t i just can’t

leela: Please Doctor you must agree if we Don;t destroy dvaros and his daleks they will conquer earth!

The president: Think of the cost of life if you don’t help us

The doctor: alight but not in the name of the Doctor!

Sounds great! 😀 Ooh, I can’t resist a good script excerpt… Here’s one from an episode I wrote a while back that I talked about in a comment that’s apparently awaiting moderation, where Madame Vastra is showing the Doctor an unconscious Clara for the first time (he has no idea who she is, I’m ignoring continuity and practically having her as a totally different companion):

There are many other unconscious people dotted round, but Vastra leads the Doctor to one in particular – a woman, young, pretty. This is CLARA.

And I’ve run out of space!

I’ve made a bunch of comments, but they’re all being awaited for moderation 🙁 Loving the script though! 🙂

      July 26th, 2013 - 9:41pm

Loving the sound of the script! Here’s an extract from one of mine I’m writing, featuring a new companion for the Doctor named Lily, set in Victorian London:

The basement is full of bodies. Unconscious, yet still standing – they’re eyes closed, expressions blank. Vastra leads the Doctor to one in particular – a woman, young, pretty. This is LILY.

DOCTOR: Okay. My turn. What’s different about her?

LILY (eyes still closed): What on Earth are you wearing on your neck?

      DOCTOR: What? I’m sorry? What?

      To be continued…

    • That Random Whovian

      July 26th, 2013 - 9:45pm

      CONTINUED:

VASTRA: Doctor, old friend. You say you don’t believe in miracles.

DOCTOR: No. I’m too old for miracles. Y’know, once upon a time, I almost believed. That perhaps there could be something.

VASTRA: This woman is unconscious, yes?

      DOCTOR: Yes.

VASTRA: She’s in a coma. Has been for weeks.

      DOCTOR: If you say so.

VASTRA: Then explain to me this –

      LILY (eyes shut): Doctor?

The Doctor stares. Doesn’t believe it.

VASTRA: My dear friend… Tell me, if that is not a miracle, then what is?

      LILY: Doctor? Doctor!

      Continued…

    • That Random Whovian

      July 26th, 2013 - 9:49pm

      CONTINUED:

VASTRA: She’s calling for you. I’m sure of it.

      DOCTOR: Impossible.

He scans Lily over with the sonic screwdriver.

VASTRA: All across the galaxy. A distress call. A cry for help. You have never met this woman, correct?

      DOCTOR: Never.

      VASTRA: Yes.

DOCTOR: Listen to me Vastra, this is impossible. This is not possible.

VASTRA: Oh, I think it is. I think you know it is.

      DOCTOR: No…

      VASTRA: I think so.

LILY: Doctor? Doctor? Can you hear me Doctor?

      A long pause.

DOCTOR (to Lily): Who? Doctor who?

      Lily’s eyes open.

      July 26th, 2013 - 9:53pm

Then the Doctor says something like, “Oh, come on.” It’s still a work in progress. Reading it back, there are a couple lines I’d like to fix, edits I’d like to make. But I’m still tweaking it. 🙂

I like that Random Whovian! I have 7 scripts written, and I have them on an online website, here is a link to the first one – http://www.movellas.com/en/book/read/201302252049430173

    • josh smith

      July 26th, 2013 - 10:04pm

Very good but I would only change 2 things.

The doctor shoulnt say doctor who mabye he should say? THE doctor.

And the sonicscrewdriver dosnt need to be doing everything. Mabye he shouls have more things in his pocket like the 4th and 6th did .

But it is still a very good script

    • That Random Whovian

      July 26th, 2013 - 10:20pm

I agree. The sonic is being used for everything at the minute. Perhaps he should just examine her face, shine a torch in one of her eyes or something?

Thank you ever so much for the feedback. I’ll see what he could say instead. It’d need to be something that would confirm it’s him she’s talking about… But what could it be?

Only just noticed this, but hey ho.

I think they’re sort of cheating when they count John Hurt as a ‘guest star’. I mean, for God sake, he only appeared for like 30 seconds in the last episode. I mean, don’t get me wrong – a mighty fine 30 seconds they were. I fell in love with his voice instanstly.

More than annoying me, listing him as a ‘guest star’ sort of makes me laugh though.

    • Matt Smithy

      July 26th, 2013 - 8:44pm

if they put him last it may have been more acceptable, but FIRST? 😀 HA! It’s probably so people just see “John Hurt” and buy it.

So it’s coming out here a month later than the US? Ok i can live with that. And it doesn’t include the 2011 Christmas Special? Hmmm, fine,*grits teeth*, it’s not the end of the world i guess.

Now all i need to hear is that we’ll be charged the same equivalent price as the US version which has more content. I think i might be a tad annoyed then…..

Personally I think the cover should have been

The dr, Clara, Amy and Rory standing in the middle with the tardis behind them. Vhastra, Jenny and Strax at the bottom. and A dalek, The gunslinger, A weeping angle, The great intelligence, The mummy, Ice warrior, Cyberman and Whisperman on there.

It would work and It can have

    Matt smith
    Jenna Lousie Coleman
    Karen Gillian
    Aruthur Darvill
    Neave Mcintosh
    Dan starlet
    Catrin Stewart
    And Richard E grant

    On there

    That cover would work
