What is actually pictured on both sides of the giant poster?

You can see it above. One side is caves of androzani and revelation of the daleks the other is remembrance of the daleks and the TV movie

Looking at the comic, they even made her squareness gun goofy, looks like a kid’s hairdryer toy.

Just bought my issue. Noticed that there was no mention of when issue 593 is out. Looking for the next date is the first thing I do. Hope we can get an answer

Hiya, according to Twitter: In DWM 593 (out 20 July) we’ll be celebrating the 10th & 11th Doctors.

So expect Blink and The Day of the Doctor to top the votes for each of those given how predictable these polls are.

I can’t for the life of me understand why this was considered a good idea. Absolutely nobody is even vaguely interested in it. An unusual misstep for RTD.

There’s so much real buzz around the 14th and 15th, this seems a whole lot of… well, what IS it exactly?

    Please make it go away.

i do not think the idea of RTD it was the BBC trying to
get more money out of the fans

RTD will have signed it off, he is in charge.

It’s not exactly “getting more money out of fans”. The effect this has will be negligible, if anything at all (given there’s… what, *zero* merchandise?). It’s more likely a woefully misjudged attempt at boosting the show’s profile by giving it more breadth than depth. Either way it’s fallen completely flat, except worse than that because it seems to be actively disliked in a way that is harder to ignore.

In the last page where it usually says what’s next time there is no release date or anything does anyone know the release or what’s next issue

The Doomsday Comic with this issue left me feeling “eh?” it made no sense at all,

Well I paid an extra three quid for this and why? For a poster I don’t want and a comic supplement that I also don’t want. It was 84 pages, is that more than normal?

Am only interested in the posters and you’d need to buy 2 x copies as they are double sided – why can’t they print them single sided?

Is no way am I paying 10.99 for this, leave alone double!

Could buy a frame with glass each side and display then flip over to display other side

I’ve only just subscribed so this will be the first issue that is sent to me. Will it have all the goodies with it? Presumably it will be in that other “wrapping” with this cover, and inside will be the textless magazine even in the shops?

Nope, it’ll come in a white postage envelope with the magazine and the bonus material loose inside. No extra bag. Hope this helps

I’ve actually just cancelled the doom’s day novel that is released in August. I’m not excited by the idea of doom’s day and I thought that I won’t know what happened in the plot from before the novel and I’ll not find out how it ends either so I reluctantly cancelled it. Reluctantly because I collect books, not just who, but I’ve collected the books since 1977 so to not buy an official novel is hard. I might get it in paperback if they do one or if I see it reduced massively. I don’t mind paying the money for books but really it has to be something I’m interested in. I hope they stop these multimedia crossovers as I feel they just don’t work.

Always the way. Understand completely. An absolute rip off once or twice a year. Should do the usual issue plus a deluxe edition of anyone who wants a folded poster, a few stickers or any other tat they throw in.

I’m with you. Doomsday seems a bit of a pointless cash grab, as does this issue of DWM.

  • James

    June 21st, 2023 - 3:56pm

Wish it just stay at one price. Used to be 3.99 when I started getting it. If you want to grt the
Posters, dioramas etc you could send off for them via the post. The comic should be separately sold. They should also do subscriptions like the newspapers where you pay and get coupons to get it in the shops. Keep the newsagents and independent shops in business and more footfall on the high streets.

That’s inflation for you. Everything is constantly going up. The target books went from £4.99 in 2011 to £9.99 this year. Everything costs more to make and distribute. It was 12p when I started buying it but of course the price has gone up, we can’t expect to pay the same prices as 5 years ago now.

Magazines, books, merchandise have to increase prices. We as fans have to accept we will be paying more for what are luxury items. We don’t have to buy but we want to so we do. Everything is going up in price so why not doctor who merchandise? I sometimes feel we fans want everything for nothing…

So remembrance of the daleks wom the 7th dr poll (looking at the poster image). Pity they don’t do a regular issue and ‘bells and whistles’ copy for those that want the extras. Can’t say freebies if they charge extra 🙁

    • bryan

      June 21st, 2023 - 4:41pm

They have not used FREE since before 2020. The big bonus packs have alway cost more, but it doesn’t say free.

It’s a hard time for magazines in general print media all over. A lot of books are printed in….Italy,Poland, even Australia, even though they are effectively UK books. Cost have gone through the roof all over.

    • James

      June 22nd, 2023 - 2:43pm

Bryan..very true. Less people buying physical magazines and newspapers now as can get online. Used to work in a big news retailer and we used to sell 300 daily mail on Saturdays, 150 of each tv guide. My friend who works still says it’s, ore like 30 and 30 these days. Shame. Obviously less people interested in going to a shop and picking up items in person or just glue themselves to the mobiles.

I’d thought about getting this for the comic but at £10.99 I just can’t. I’d rather buy a novel with the money and just miss the comic.
