Boo boo maybe you should ask someone on the production side to write a statement you can post that explains the very simple economics and practicalities behind why these can’t be perfect matches. I know most people understand but there are a lot of posts that seem a bit demanding (should have done this or that etc) I know people always want more but you have to be practical. Be grateful we are getting anything!

i have often though this, its only a minority but it would help people to realise just what goes into these and why some things just aren’t possible and to costly

anyone know the reason as to why The 7th Doctor figure from Big Finish looks different in the video? The Tie and Trousers are different?

Are these trousers canon? If not I’ll have whatever the person who painted the had. Looks like McCoy left the house in his pyjama bottoms that day.

      yes from the TV movie

I think I’ll be putting a black wash over those to tone them down then.

I made a simple TV movie custome using the waistcoat & tie from the ‘Bracewell’ series 5 figure, painting the waistcoat scarlet and the tie black. It looks far better than this figure. Therefore it’s such a shame that C/O didn’t do the same, in using the ‘Bracewell’ waistcoat & tie, as it looks SO much more screen accurate than simply painting the jumper red, a C/O have done with this new variant.

you cant mix an match like that on production lines on a nest to nothing budget, i don’t get why people just get this and keeping saying they should have done this and that when its just not possible.

They don’t have loads of people hand putting together and altering diffident parts on 5000 figures just because its looks a bit better it would cost an absolute fortune.

I think the problem is it is not very clear what can and can not be done with existing moulds, and what the restrictions are with new parts.

The 5th Doctor TARDIS has a new base for example, you would not have thought that possible on a tight budget. An 8th Doctor head can be put on a 9th Doctor body – as can a Brig head on a Jack body. There was a new chest piece put on the previous 4th Doctor in an earlier 3 pack.

Then there is the Harry figure – not just a new head, but has the Hary figure combo of jacket and overcoat been seen before?

Then there is also the Peri where they have taken the existing hands off and replaced them with elongated ones from a different Peri.

Does anyone know whether this Dalek variant was a one off character or were there several in the story? Need to know so I can decide how many to get?!

I don’t know the audios but I appreciate B&M for doing these expanded universe items too.

Do we have confirmed the differences between b&m and big finish versions yet at all?

      no nothing at all yet

At this point their treatment of Seven figures makes his smiling hatted figure the rarer of the pair, oddly enough. If we can’t spare the tooling for a solemn hatted head, might as well bite the bullet and gives us more grinning McCoy heads with the hat to make customizing less of a wallet burden.

Are the weathered versions or the clean versions the BF exclusives?

    • Jack Oates

      August 1st, 2019 - 12:06am

Nothing has been said about the BF version

  • Gareth Pugh

    July 30th, 2019 - 5:19pm

Al Dewar has mentioned that the Big Finish exclusive editions with tweaks will be ‘some (sets) more obvious than others’ . I’ve read some speculation that the Dalek in the McGann set might be without the weathering on the paintwork for the BF exclusive version. I wonder if this set might be one with a ‘more obvious’ difference like maybe a Seven with hatted head?

    July 30th, 2019 - 4:29pm

Well, at least half of the 7th Doctor from this set could be used as custom fodder for a TV movie variant…

    That’s something at least.

Guy, what happened to the Dalek supreme sculpt from 2008, what did it get destroyed like the imperial dalek moulds? couldn’t that have been painted blue and grey and purple and grey to be the closest to a time strategist? why are they so shy to re-release that sculpt?

    • Gareth Pugh

      July 30th, 2019 - 4:12pm

The Imperial Dalek moulds wee bit lost not destroyed, that’s a popular urban myth that Al Dewar (chap in the CO unboxing vid) Laos to rest on Gallifrey Base a few weeks ago.

    • Gareth Pugh

      July 30th, 2019 - 4:13pm

Sorry, damn auto fill. ‘were not lost or destroyed’

      July 30th, 2019 - 4:19pm

Part of the deal with BandM’s is that the line is produced with as little mould work as possible. To create the Dalek you mentioned would mentioned would require the entire middle section to be remoulded which would cost character a lot of money. For some reason creating whole new moulds is extremely costly for the company and therefore they will refrain from creating new moulds if possible and opting to use parts of other figures from now defunct lines like Primeval.

Personally, it wouldn’t bother me if it is just a re-paint of the supreme dalek, i’m just dying to see it back in circulation. Even in glossy red as it was in the magicians apprentice. The re-paint of the stolen earth supreme dalek in the colours of the time strategist i’d be more than happy with, it’d look so cool.

Awesome! Cant wait to get them both. The Dalek looks fantastic. These sets have exceeded expectations.

But the 7th doctor isn’t in Gallifrey VI???

    • Colin Forever

      July 31st, 2019 - 9:40am

Well the 7th doctor doesn’t have any unique Daleks from big Finish so they got to get them where they can. Still kinda wish they did a we are the Daleks set with business man 7 and imperial Dalek though

You are on a clear minority. These figures were meticulously discussed with Big Finish at length to create this series.
