B&M 2021 History of the Daleks #7 Figure Set

Character Options is delighted to announce its first new wave of Doctor Who action figure sets for 2021 with four new lines scheduled to arrive in B and M stores across the country in Mid-August.

This exciting launch will introduce two more action figure trios plus two additional special collectors’ packs for Dalek Fans. Each and every set of this detailed series will include highly detailed 5.5 inch scale figures featuring multiple points of articulation and come presented in the ‘heritage’ Doctor Who packaging with specially created insert artwork.

We jump one story forwards to the next decade to 1972’s ‘Day of the Daleks’ and The Daleks’ first foray into colour TV with Collector Set #7 which celebrates this four part story first shown in January of that year. In this set you’ll find the highly detailed Gold Supreme Dalek and Grey drone Dalek as seen in the episodes. Considered a classic among Doctor Who fans, this episode saw the Third Doctor and his companions Jo and U.N.I.T take on Time Travelling guerrillas, Ogrons and the Daleks, in a bid to avert World War III.

Al Dewar Character Options’ Creative Director said: “Once again we are delighted to be working with B and M in bringing a fresh new collection to the legions of fans. This substantial line up represents some of the finest early Doctor Who episodes and will be familiar to many from diehard fans to adults that spent their child hoods hiding behind the sofa at teatime!”

do you think there will be a frontier in space dalek set or would that defeat the purpose of history #7?

    • Harry

      August 26th, 2021 - 3:35pm

yeah, I think they’ll be skipping that one. #8 I imagine should be Planet of the Daleks, which will definitely include the Supreme Dalek from that story, but I’m hoping it also includes the Anti-Reflecting Light Wave Dalek too!

      August 31st, 2021 - 11:08am

I imagine we could have a two-Dalek set for ‘Planet’ – a door cutter Dalek with a small white flame, a Drone with a slightly different paint app/ice effect, a more/less spray painted Dalek, or a Supreme with a better paint job or detailing? I’d buy a two Drone set, just for army building.

I hope that when we get to genesis & onwards we’ll start seeing a dalek with Davros. Hopefully the supreme for Resurrection…

      August 17th, 2021 - 12:27pm

I imagine they will keep Davros separate and maybe release with a Dr like the recent Capaldi and Davros from The Magicians apprentice…

I,m hoping for my favourite, the dalek supreme from planet as rerelease in the next wave.

    • philip shaw

      August 10th, 2021 - 4:03pm

…and the partly sprayed invisible Dalek, anti reflective or something did they call it? Hoping it’s not the fully invisible Dalek as we will get only one figure in the 2 pack and they can say it’s really in there!

    • the ergon

      August 10th, 2021 - 7:07pm

Invisible daleks aren,t top of my list, got about half dozen of those as it is, trouble is i can never find them to display.,

Hopefully they don’t put in an anti-light wave dalek and a spiridon because then it’ll be just a box! 😀

seems maybe not this year, a least not from gogs1

Glad to see them doing the Supreme’s neck gold at last even if it is still a very different colour to the original.

    August 7th, 2021 - 9:36pm

I expect another long running series ‘Evolution of the Cybermen’ at some point.

    • Independently Cross

      August 9th, 2021 - 10:20am

      I’d like that a lot.
Barring some possible extra sets like Davros/Special Weapons, maybe- At this rate ‘classic’ (non-new series) Dalek sets would be done half way through 2023 (unless some serials get more than one set- which some actually warrant, in fairness)-
So they may just continue onto the new series, or they may want to mix it up and do some Daleks, some Cyebermen a year.
There’s lots of Cyebermen that are difficult to get now (‘Revenge’, especially), as well as the one classic type not yet produced. Be brilliant to be able to army build some of them (as well as other ‘army’ creatures, to be honest).

      August 10th, 2021 - 9:49am

I imagine the main Dalek extensions will be ‘Remembrance of the Daleks’, ‘Victory of the Daleks’, and ‘Asylum of the Daleks’. I would love a Cyberman collection series.

    • John

      August 10th, 2021 - 12:58pm

Unlikely you will get history of the Cybermen as B&M have done a lot of Classic ones already.

    • Anonymous

      August 10th, 2021 - 5:19pm

At the current rate, a History of the Cybermen series is still several years off. The early sets are probably not as big a problem.

    August 6th, 2021 - 5:55pm

The gold dalek looks excellent! Hope I can get this set, it’s my favourite of the four new ones.

    August 5th, 2021 - 3:06pm

Just noticed…the supreme Dalek had black mesh just below the head, not gold…

    • Philip Shaw

      August 5th, 2021 - 5:37pm

From what I can remember the gold mesh was in the programme and any figures in the past put the black.mesh on incorrectly.

    • booboo

      August 5th, 2021 - 5:58pm

yes, the black you are seeing is the “void” behind the (gold) mesh where the operator sat, essentially they just sprayed the whole thing gold bar the spheres and weapons including the top of the skirt, this is probably as screen accurate as you can get with in the budget.

    • Prototype dalek

      August 5th, 2021 - 9:11pm

Best and most accurate version of this dalek to be released so far

    August 4th, 2021 - 12:07pm

What’s the names of the other few B&M sets released this year and estimated arrival dates Booboo.
Give me a chance to work out budgeting, Or are they still classed as speculation?

    • booboo

      August 4th, 2021 - 12:18pm

Not in the loop an any of this now so you know as soon as i do! but if whats been bounded about around forums and s/m is right ( and it probably is). dates i wouldn’t rely on but would expect about 1-2 months apart

    • Coleman

      August 4th, 2021 - 12:51pm

Thanks Booboo, will save me searching on the web for hours.
All I could remember was the Robot set out in December.
And their was speculation that it was the K1 build a figure with a Tom baker variant.

    • booboo

      August 4th, 2021 - 1:02pm

Its down for December i think

    • Coleman

      August 4th, 2021 - 1:14pm

Hopefully theirs a few more companions to come in the Earth shock set, looking forward to some fith Doctor Companions like Tegan, Nyssa and Adric. COs kept drip feeding us a few new companions each year so far.

    • TimelordTim

      August 4th, 2021 - 3:25pm

I reckon the Earthshock one will follow the trend of these packs and be a couple of Cybermen with Adric, maybe?

I’m certainly hoping for Tegan and Nyssa as well though.

Five Doctors set could be the Master, Hurndall 1st and Tegan or Turlough maybe?

Will be fun to find out. I’m looking forward to those 2 sets as they are the ones I’d pick up (if they are close to my guesses that is) out of the whole range this year. Fingers crossed!

    • Coleman

      August 4th, 2021 - 4:50pm

Hello Tim, won’t you be interested in a huge K1 Robot that was only ever available before as a build a figure, if it turns out this is the December set.

    • Factory Insider

      August 4th, 2021 - 6:35pm

Five Doctors set: The Brigadier wearing a suit, Mike Yates with a pale face, and a non-posable Fourth Doctor representing the waxwork from the photoshoot.

Earthshock set: dead Snyder (some left over melted plastic), dead Adric (some dust off the factory floor/SPOILER ALERT), and all new deluxe fully posable Beryl Reid as Captain Briggs (with karate chop action).

    • TimelordTim

      August 4th, 2021 - 8:08pm

Hi Coleman. The K1 robot is the most tempting one of the rest for me, especially so close to Christmas 🙂

    • Coleman

      August 4th, 2021 - 8:43pm

If your right Factory Insider, I’ll be able to save some money for a change.
I don’t think theirs much their to tempt me.

    • Philip Shaw

      August 4th, 2021 - 9:13pm

I think they will do a cyber leader, scout, and black android in the Earthshock set. Then in the 5 Dr’s will re use the black android and spray it silver for a Raston warrior robot, with rumoured Hurndall 1st Dr and another figure.

    • Dalek Eye Stalk

      August 6th, 2021 - 12:45pm

I reckon ‘The Five Doctors’ set should feature the Raston warrior robot, the Ainley Master and Borusa. The ‘Earthshock’ set should feature (as Philip Shaw said) black android (as seen in the caves), Cyberleader and Adric.

    • Anonymous

      August 7th, 2021 - 4:19pm

No Mike Yates again, shouldn’t be one in the first place. Omega would be good to get.

I wish they did 5 Doctors set part 1 and 2 like last year,
One with 2 Doctors (hurdnall 1, coat 2) and villain, another with 3, companion and villain. Still happy with the first wave of sets anyway so hope these are good too. Any idea when they are out?

    • Coleman

      August 8th, 2021 - 5:21pm

Speculation was some more sets were due in October, then the Robot set out in December.
But it could change I suppose

Why is there a Day of the Daleks set AND a history of the Daleks 7 set also from Day. Do not get the difference between the two

    • FH

      August 4th, 2021 - 12:35am

Wdym? This is history of the Daleks set 7, the Day of the Daleks set.

    • SilentNinjaZero

      August 4th, 2021 - 5:29am

Which Day of the Daleks set are you referring to? As far as I’m aware the only previous CO figure from Day was the original version of the Gold Supreme with black neck bands, which came in both the 2009 and 2012 versions of the Dalek Collector’s set #2. Obviously, that set also had Dalek figures from Invasion of Earth and Evil of the Daleks.

History of the daleks #7 is the first specific Day set released by CO.

    • Gareth Pugh

      August 4th, 2021 - 8:42am

It’s not quite clear what other ‘Day of the Daleks’ set you mean Howard – are you talking about the two Big Chief products a bit further down this Merch news page? If yes , the difference is about £500 for the pair! Big Chief are 1:6 scale (about 11’ high I’d guess for their Daleks), are highly detailed models/ display items and sell fir about £280 each (ish). The B&M History of the Daleks set 7 (same Daleks same TV story) are sold together for about £20. 5.5” scale, made of plastic.

    • John

      August 4th, 2021 - 8:47am

      There aren’t 2 sets – theres HOTD 7, that’s it.

Nice to see a gun matel drone from Day of the daleks, which we’ve not had before.

  • Coleman

    August 3rd, 2021 - 5:54pm

I think these two Daleks are the same two Daleks that Big Chief just have put up for pre-order.
(The article Lower down on the merchandise guide).

  • Martino

    August 3rd, 2021 - 5:38pm

At last a gun metal Dalek – looks like I will have to find space for a bit of renewed army building! These are very handsome figures, very happy.

    • Anonymous

      August 3rd, 2021 - 4:32pm

No their old Daleks from the Seventies. I think their meant to be the dark grey Daleks.
Maybe abit too dark with the colour scheme, (they almost look black).

    • booboo

      August 3rd, 2021 - 4:39pm

according to the video, they have matched the exact colour from the show, and added other upgrades to make them as screen accurate as possible

    • Coleman

      August 3rd, 2021 - 4:56pm

Quick question Booboo, is this CO Dalek boxset the same as the two Daleks Big Chief are making at the moment.
I know big Chief said theirs were from the 3rd Doctors era?

    • booboo

      August 3rd, 2021 - 6:06pm

yes same 2 Daleks from day of the Daleks

    • Coleman

      August 4th, 2021 - 11:32am

Yes, just asking, I thought they were from the same story but couldnt understand why the grey Daleks were two totally different colours?

    • booboo

      August 4th, 2021 - 11:34am

might just be the images at this stage

    • Coleman

      August 4th, 2021 - 11:46am

Yes, give them a chance, both sets might be totally different in hand Booboo.
Unfortunately with Big Chief though, it could be up to two years before their in hand.

    • Anonymous

      August 3rd, 2021 - 12:59am

I really want them to release a Jo figure again. They released a Peri but variant so let’s hope with 70s Dalek sets, they are next.

Most excited about this set from the new wave. The long awaited grey Dalek looks gorgeous! I have the three grey Daleks from the 2013 Toys R Us Doctor & Dalek packs but I don’t think any of them has as dark a grey as this one. I must check.
And a set with as contrasting Daleks as these is very refreshing, particularly when one is such an ultra gold one.

Just in case he reads the comments as this one seems to be the one he’s most likely going to read, many thanks Al for doing the video looking at the sets and thank you for answering the questions that we were all wondering like why Ian was in his suit rather than his Marinus komono and why the black and gold Daleks have silver sucker arms glad he’s added the bits like the First Doctor’ trousers being redder than they were as it makes for a nice variant, plus gives us a bit of insight on just how hard they work and how privileged we are getting these lovely figures from Character Options

This set is really cool and I think the detail on the box insert is so superb! Regarding the Grey Dalek (my favourite of the two in this set), just wondering if this is the same shade of grey that they used for the Daleks in The Planet of the Daleks? I’ve always really liked the Daleks in this dark metallic grey.
