B&M 2024 The History of the Daleks #18

This set is due in-store in September.

As a last resort you can search for this set on www.ebay.co.uk

Character Options is delighted to reveal details of the first Doctor Who Collector Sets for B&M Stores, for 2024. Available in September, these two exciting new sets will be the perfect addition to any fan’s collection.

For fans of one of the Doctor’s most feared enemies, the first set boasts the fearsome Emperor Davros Collector Figure, and to further sate the demand from fans of the Daleks, the second offering is a new History of the Daleks set. Each pack features a comprehensive description, accompanied with details on the inspiration behind a summary of which is below.

This latest installment for the History of the Daleks series features the black, white and silver liveried Supreme Dalek and a more customary Grey Drone Dalek, from the episode ‘Resurrection of the Daleks’ that first aired in 1984. In the episode, the Daleks return to rescue their leader Davros from his cryogenic sleep, to save them from a deadly virus created by their enemies, the Movellians. The tale unfolds into an epic battle that may see the entire Dalek race, including Davros, succumb to the virus, and culminates the Dalek Command ship and station being blown to atoms.

These new sets will be available in the coming weeks at local B&M Stores. The retail price will be determined by the store.

I don’t know what it is but the scuff marks on the fender of the Supreme seem to stick out… strange as the 80s Daleks tend not to have them… then again the Blue Peter segment appears to be the only time we see the fender which seems unscuffed? 🙂

I agree! Although the scuffed base might be more accurate to the prop, and a nice bit of detail, I think it detracts from the supreme and makes it look a little battered. I think I’ll switch the base out for a regular black one when I receive it.

Otherwise they look like amazing figures!

I don’t know if I’m glad or not that they didn’t go for the reversed skirting look we saw with the Eaglemoss release, but I imagine the scuffs are screen accurate.

I’ve started my once-a-day pop-in to the London Willesden store, just to be safe, but actually I do shop a lot at B&M anyway as it’s a pretty good discount shop. Their Spam is 50% cheaper than Sainsbury’s! Good hunting, people.

I get my Bovril there; It’s about a quid cheaper than supermarkets! Plus I always go there for household stuff and Hooch or if I have time to kill when out and about! ;D

Love Spam, when I was a Kid my Parents regularly went to the Chip shop when Shopping in the Nearest Town and all I would have was Spam Fritters (With Chips and Beans of course). Anyway back to the Hunting. Good luck Everyone.

There’s rumored to be a chase variant in these sets, but there’s been no official confirmation from Character yet.

seems to be Grey or Silver mesh, supposed to be a 50/50 split

    • Fh

      September 4th, 2024 - 4:47pm

What is meant by a ‘chase’ variant?

    • booboo

      September 4th, 2024 - 4:59pm

usually a variant that’s few and far between i.e. as in 1 in every 50 sets, not sure that’s the case though with this one

    • John

      September 5th, 2024 - 12:52pm

The last few variant sets were just packed 50/50 in the delivery boxes. I’ve read that is the case with these, I’ve also read its less than that as booboo indicates. I guess we will have to wait and see.
Seems a strange little thing to change to me.

    • effjay

      September 5th, 2024 - 4:12pm

I hope it’s true that the variant without the mesh is 50/50.

It costs a monumental amount to ship these to the states after paying eBay scalper prices. I’ll probably only get one Davros to stay sealed, since the older one is actually more screen accurate and he’s an individual character, not one of many like Daleks are. If that makes sense…

Really excited though, even though the only thing ‘new’ here for me is the new drones in a slightly different grey. The black Dalek seems to be the same as the old one, but I’m happy it’s back out there for folks who missed it 13 (!) years ago.

And next time we get ‘The Parting Of The Ways’! (Please please please please do the black Emperor’s guard with the saw, and the black headed one with the weird sensor thing!)

    • Martino

      September 8th, 2024 - 12:01pm

Variants are always welcome, and can become chase items in years to come (though you can never predict which will be a popular figure).

I had been search8ng for history of the daleks set 16 to see if the set had been officially press releas3d but little did I know it had been renamed to set 18 which is an odd choice. Can’t wait to try and hunt down both variants of the Hotd set and the emperor davros (they look so good!)

Just as oddly, the last dalek set was numbered 16/17 – new series gold & black daleks

    • John

      September 4th, 2024 - 12:53pm

CO said in a podcast thing they weren’t following the stories with the numbering anymore.

    • Rob

      September 4th, 2024 - 10:02pm

It’s because Al wasn’t sure if BBC would continue with the licensing with CO, so they decided to put out the new series daleks if the range was to end, however it didn’t

    • Martino

      September 8th, 2024 - 12:04pm

It’s a shame they couldn’t keep their set numbering consistent, even if it meant releasing similar figures back to back. And I’ve just realised they skipped the Skaro Dalek variant from Revelation of the Daleks completely!

Yes the history set 15 just checked. Not sure i even bought that set. I will need to backcheck. The last i remember buying was the bomb daleks from Destiny. It was last year i didnt bother at all.
Hoping the next wave has the odd exclusive.

The Imperial Dalek and two Renegade Daleks have already been released, so I don’t think we will see a re-release for a good few years. A Renegade vs Imperial pack maybe?

    • John

      September 3rd, 2024 - 12:01pm

3 Renegades, 3 Imperials, 1 destroyed, 2 Black and silver, 2 SWD and 2 Emperor Davros (will be shortly anyway) have been released.

If folk are patient they will get them at reasonable prices! It’s the need to have them NOW that cost people. I held off and have paid under cost price on all of them so far…
The half price thing is so true Loobop! Got the ‘Five Doctors’ and ‘Revelation’ sets for that and was well pleased.
Latest ones look very nice though.

    • Fh

      September 2nd, 2024 - 5:32pm

Scalping really isn’t as big a problem as people make out. If you buy ones for double the price then that’s your fault. Plenty of them that end up on ebay are hardly more expensive, sometimes even cheaper, than retail price. Very helpful to me as no B&M near me so it’s the only way I get them.

    • Doug Who

      September 2nd, 2024 - 5:41pm

Yes Fh…it’s the dreaded FOMO but these don’t really seem to disappear even long term. I got fed up with the time and expense trawling round the B&Ms which are not too far away. There was one lucky trip where the ‘Five Doctors’ and ‘Revelation’ sets were half price but too many fruitless trips! I’ve got a lot of the releases on eBay for retail or less. Just have to wait a month or so…

    • Judooning

      September 2nd, 2024 - 5:45pm

Honestly, I feel like the whole scalping thing is slowly dying down anyway. People are learning that prices do go down and demand decreases after the first month or so of release.
I’m lucky that I’ve always found them in store, but I wouldn’t worry now if I couldn’t because I know eventually I’d get them for next to retail price either on Amazon or Ebay not long after.
Like you say, it’s the whole “I need it NOW” thing. Which I get. We are Collectors and it’s our hobby.

    • NickC

      September 2nd, 2024 - 8:46pm

I don’t entirely agree with the scalping and domo debate, as several of my local stores chose not to stock some of the last couple of waves. 🙁

    • Johnny

      September 3rd, 2024 - 12:01am

Is scalping still as much of an issue? I see the previous Dalek sets still available in most of the stores I’ve been in. Maybe demand is falling, or the the cost of living has played a part.

  • Daniel Seymour

I was hoping for a Dalek Trooper figure and a Dalek rather than have two Daleks just for variation in this one but its still a good set.

I think they are sticking to purely Daleks for these sets. Perhaps a limited release like the Destiny Movellan set one day.

    • Fh

      September 3rd, 2024 - 10:23am

They didn’t stick to it last wave with the five doctors set so I guess I wouldn’t say it was out of the realm of possibility, but the resurrection daleks, I think, have only ever been released once before so plenty of demand for these ones.

  • Sime

    September 2nd, 2024 - 2:22pm

I know there’s no way this is the case but I really hope the variant Dalek take the spot of the supreme Dalek, because I’d rather have 3 drones and a supreme than 2 drones and 2 supremes.

The variant takes the place of the drone – to get both, you’d have a second Supreme.
