Character Options is pleased to announce the next wave of Doctor Who figures for summer 2022, scheduled to land in B&M stores in September (but down to B&M when they put them out).

Each new addition to this line forms part of the 5.5” figure range and features new decoration as well as multiple points of articulation. The new sets come packaged in the familiar ‘heritage’ style Doctor Who collector packs; though, this time, there are a few changes that eagle-eyed fans might notice.

History of the Daleks 9 – ‘Planet of the Daleks’ (1973)

This duo of Dalek figures set is based on the Third Doctor’s battle with his greatest nemesis, on the planet Spiridon. The first Dalek figure from this set is the Supreme Dalek from this story.

This was a redressed ‘movie’ style prop but with some unconventional changes to its overall appearance. Nevertheless, finished in a gold and black colour scheme, and towering over the BBC props it was visually stunning and has remained a fan-favourite despite its limited screen-time. The second figure is the ‘Invisible Dalek’ from the story and is fully representative of a transparent Dalek!

Al Dewar Creative Director commented “I think and hope the fans and collectors will really like these new sets. We have really spent time updating the look of the figures to make them different. The Eighth Doctor set, especially the TV movie and NOTD figures are a real delight and have a much more sophisticated look, befitting a modern action figure. I think they are the best yet. The Tenth Doctor sets have a very different and fresh feel and come with two never released variants. The Dalek sets not only feature new packaging, but we have finally brought to the fans the Dalek Supreme and a fully transparent Dalek from Planet of the Daleks! And The Death to the Daleks set is also very close to my heart!”

Well would someone tell me where to find one of these history of the daleks sets 9 or 10 because I live in plymouth and what happens is not many dalek sets come down to these b&m stores as I was lucky to find history of the daleks set 5 6 and 7 yet still looking for set 8 but nothing so far

Suggest you Contact Character and B&M then. They make them and sell them so should be in a far better position to answer your question.

NW London B&M rarely stocks Dalek sets for some reason, the Coal Hill set being the last one I saw, but booboo works very hard to help us find what’s where and improve our chances of grabbing stuff. Tirelessly and gratis. I wouldn’t want to do it, but am VERY grateful.

Well you won’t find set 8 now they are long gone! And when people try to help you might get better results by not throwing it in their face.

I also live in Plymouth and ,so far , I have managed to find all the Dalek history sets at my local B&Ms .

No doubt I will only find these sets on eBay. I can’t be bothered wasting days going round B&M’s trying to find stock. More often they don’t arrive, or sold out within minutes of going on the shelf. This ‘Planet of the Daleks’ set is the only one I’m interested in. I was buying every ‘History of the Daleks’ sets. But now the packaging has changed I’m not as interested. Luckily I have a spare ‘History of the Daleks’ set 8 ‘Planet of the Daleks’ empty box with cardboard back drop. Plus still with the inner plastic packaging, so I will put the set 9 Daleks in that box.

What do you guys think about the new colour of the dome lights? It’s pretty significantly different from the origin release, purple as opposed to pink. At first I thought it was more inaccurate, but looking at pictures I can actually see where they got this purple colour from. It’s like when it lights up it looked more like the pink version but you can see the kind of purple ‘bulb(?)’ inside the glass more clearly when it’s not lit up and you can see this colour there I think.

kind of difficult with out them in hand, think i prefer the original. But then these days i think i prefer most of the originals.

      August 18th, 2022 - 7:18pm

Looking at videos on YouTube by some fans who have already been sent these sets. Lucky guys! I definitely prefer the original Dalek Supreme. The Gold paint looks a lot brighter on the original release, whereas the Gold paint on the latest release looks a lot lighter. The original looks more like the one as seen on screen in episode six of ‘Planet of the Daleks’. But this re-release still looks great. I think this Dalek Supreme is my favourite Classic Dalek design.

They could have just left that side of the box empty to save a few quid.

It’s a bit like that joke about unwrapping an empty box on Christmas morning and being told you’ve got an Action Man Deserter figure.
