For some collectors this ends possibly the longest awaited figure release and completes the classic Third Doctor’s core U.N.I.T team of Brigadier Lethbridge Stuart, Captain Mike Yates and Sergeant John Benton. They are presented here as a set from Season 8’s 1971 story ‘The claws Of Axos’.

The brigadier is wearing his less formal uniform with U.N.I.T beret, whilst Benton and Yates sport their combat fatigues and webbing. All figures are 5.5 inch scale, again have various points of articulation.

Presented in Heritage Doctor Who brand packaging.

The links aren’t live yet, but the Official North American Doctor Who Store’s website now has the three-packs listed at $49.99 and the Dalek sets at $39.99.

  • Hi

    July 10th, 2020 - 11:59pm

I hope there is a unit 1968 invasion set with Benton
    Brigadier
    Unit soldier

Ditto ! The odd Cyberman wouldn’t hurt either

      Beware the odd cyberman.

These troops look very impressive particularly their uniforms and webbing. Pity about the incorrect rifles but I can live with that (they got the Brigadier’s 9mm Browning spot on though !)

Hang on- UNIT 1971? Does that mean that we are in for more UNIT sets?

Let’s hope so these look great

I guess it wouldn’t have done for CO to have given us THREE new figures…..
    Always gotta have a re-pack haven’t we.

Well I like the unit one because it is a famous story but I would like them to make a timelord set with 2 timelord solders from heaven sent and the timelord general please share this and it might just happen if we tell character options that we want to see if I would like to see it would look great.

Love all of these new sets!!! Love the new sculpts. Only need Liz Shaw now to complete the Unit team and Pertwee era!!

      June 22nd, 2020 - 9:18am

She’s a strong contender for next year. It would have been cool to have Liz instead of the Brigadeer. But, I am so greatful for the ones we have got.

      June 24th, 2020 - 8:36pm

Fun fact (from an insider) Liz was going to be in the set, and was drafted up if I’m not mistaken, but was replaced with the brigadier as they thought it would make a nice Unit Set.

      June 24th, 2020 - 9:45pm

I really really hope we see liz shaw next year as then it will feel like the unit family is really complete and she’s massively underrated, pertwee really got amazing companions!! Hope we see some 60s companions also- polly and Ben from tenth planet using jo grant and Mickey smith figures as they’re similar heights (Ben could use a new wraparound for a jumper and collar piece) perhaps with a 1st doctor in cape and white scarf), I think that would be an achievable set and be a starting point for 60s companions as you could display them with either 1 or 2 like peri with 5 and 6

    • DoctorRomanaTARDIS

      June 24th, 2020 - 11:17pm

Speaking of 60’s companions I’d love to see Zoe done, I think the standard Martha Jones figure repainted to look like her sparkly (for lack of a more descripted word) jumpsuit would work really well, in an ideal world she’d come with a brown coat 2nd and a pretty much full new sculpt Jamie, but I doubt those last 2 would ever happen

    • Ando

      June 25th, 2020 - 9:28am

Gutted Liz Shaw was dropped for another Brigadier release. Definitely up for a set with Polly and Ben!

    • TARDIS_H63

      June 26th, 2020 - 1:51pm

What worries me is… What set could Liz be in? It would just have to be more 3rd dr and Brigadier figures…

    • DoctorRomanaTARDIS

      June 26th, 2020 - 2:04pm

Liz could be released with 2 autons from spearhead or 2 sea devils with newly sculpted silurian heads would be a good way to get more classic monsters

    • Fran Burns

      June 26th, 2020 - 2:09pm

They could stick Liz Shaw in a companions of the third doctor set

    • The Outcast

      June 26th, 2020 - 2:43pm

Maybe Liz could be in a 70s set alongside a Sea Devil reissue and a Terror of the Autons Auton with the comically big head.

    • JL

      June 26th, 2020 - 3:14pm

What about an ultimate gingers set with liz, mel and turlough? That would leave just 60s companions plus a 5th doctor set of adric, nyssa and tegan left to do

    • Alan D ️‍

      June 27th, 2020 - 2:52am

The Ultimate 1970 season 7 set would be Liz, the Brig, the third Doctor (in Troughton clothing) and Bessie. Might be pricy, but be worth it!!

    • KB

      June 27th, 2020 - 6:22am

How about a Kamelion for the 5th Dr. Am I the only one??

    • Robert Barker

      June 27th, 2020 - 8:31am

How about a liz , 3rd doctor with apron and goggles (open seen of doctor who and the silurains) and Bessie.

    • JL

      June 27th, 2020 - 10:08am

KB, I left kamelion out as I think he’d need completely new parts, which, at the moment, I don’t think a b&m budget will allow for

How about Liz, Jamie and Zoe in a Five Doctors set?

  • James Lee

    June 17th, 2020 - 9:42pm

I really love all this years sets.
The only thing I find odd is the unit accessories for Benton & Yates.
The come with M4 machine guns which were developed in the early 90’s and have been in service from 1994.

    • The Ergon

      June 17th, 2020 - 10:12pm

Oh please, don,t start another UNIT dating conspiracy.

    • Jamie D

      June 18th, 2020 - 12:03am

The large guns are re used from a Primeval set.

    • Bobby Davros

      June 18th, 2020 - 12:54am

They had manned missions to Mars in the 1970s, anachronistic machine guns can’t compete with that.

    • Romana III

      June 18th, 2020 - 3:47am

@Bobby Davros, better yet, they had manned missions to Mars in the 1800s, victorian era (Empress of Mars)… best not to question these sorts of things in the whoniverse… : )

    • The Ergon

      June 18th, 2020 - 11:16am

Maybe the Torchwood Institute led the way with secret manned missions from the victorian era onwards. Feasible with all the tech they must have acquired. All very Hush hush you know.

    • Anonymous

      June 22nd, 2020 - 9:20am

They could be weapons from the future stored in Unit or Torchwood.

    • Luck4unow

      June 25th, 2020 - 4:28am

I would love it if CO could include a new monster or two in next year’s sets if these do well. A Silurian, Voord, Draconian if they can find the right kit kitbash formula.

  • Robert W

    June 17th, 2020 - 6:34pm

Shame that set didnt have the Axos background instead of white in the box

  • Martino

    June 17th, 2020 - 11:17am

In terms of likeness, these figures are extremely good. When I first saw pics on Twitter a few weeks ago, I was amazed. The fact that the packaging also specifies which story they’re from is interesting. I’m wondering if this means more (tweaked?) UNIT sets in future? The Daemons perhaps?

  • Mark Belsom

    June 17th, 2020 - 11:06am

I think this has to be my favourite set, will look excellent standing next to the third doctor, Jo and the Master.

  • whovian

    June 16th, 2020 - 11:15pm

I know what Benton and Yates look like in the classic series, but these, which one is which? They both look the same. Is Benton the one that looks really worried?

    • booboo

      June 16th, 2020 - 11:17pm

Benton is on the left but, i will be honest here the new images don’t do justice at all, in hand all look fine trust me.

    • whovian

      June 16th, 2020 - 11:32pm

      Thanks for that

    • DavidV

      June 19th, 2020 - 2:48am

Well Benton has the Sergeant Stripes, and light eyes, and Yates has dark eyes.

  • Judooning

    June 16th, 2020 - 9:36pm

Anyone else think the Brigadier figure in this set has the best paint apps yet on the face? It looks like a high end model paint application!

  • The Ergon

    June 16th, 2020 - 8:37pm

Hope the option 3 button returns in july, then we can return to the annual frantic ‘anybody seen any in…?.’ Cliche’, Cliche’.

    • booboo

      June 16th, 2020 - 8:45pm

Sadly we wont be doing that this year. To many problems and issues for me this time around.

    • The Ergon

      June 16th, 2020 - 10:41pm

i wouldn,t envy anybody trying to keep all that in check.

      June 17th, 2020 - 8:53am

Hi BooBoo does your comment mean you wont be hosting comments from people with store reports of sightings in store to help us find where they are at?

    • booboo

      June 17th, 2020 - 9:23am

Probably, It was far to problematic last time

    • booboo

      June 17th, 2020 - 3:33pm

sort of changing my mind, if we can iron out some of the issues i think we should do it maybe, it was a big help to many in the past i know

    • The Ergon

      June 17th, 2020 - 4:01pm

Sometimes i suppose you have to fold to the masses.if it helps and you enjoy it , why not?. What Issues are you talking about though?

    • booboo

      June 17th, 2020 - 4:33pm

last year it became a bit to hostile towards eBay “scalpers” and to an extent towards us for telling them where the stock was, but they now have the app its irrelevant now but also all of last years sets can still be bought somewhere for around retail or less.

We also have a small minority who make stuff up ( who immediately get blocked)

It just a lot of work keeping it all on track and civil but if it really does help the genuine collectors then its all worth it.

    • Bobby Davros

      June 17th, 2020 - 6:58pm

Stacks of 7th and 8th Doctor Dalek sets and 3rd Doctor TARDIS in Birmingham city centre branch of anyones interestsd by the way.

    • Bundy

      June 17th, 2020 - 8:11pm

I would think the number of genuine fans of the figures and followers of this site that have benefited from the ‘heads up’ on availability far outweighs the number of scalpers that may have used the information. There is a great sense of community and collaboration within the thread – I know I’ve been helped and I have helped others. Fingers crossed we do it again next month.

Can’t wait to get this set!

  • Bobby Davros

    June 16th, 2020 - 4:55pm

Benton looks fine to be apart from looking really worried, like he’s scheduled for a later dinner break to everyone else and he’s concerned that the UNIT canteen is going to sell out of Steak and Kidney pies.

  • James17

    June 16th, 2020 - 12:57pm

I’m so excited for these, but I cant help but think that the face paint apps for Benton and Yates look really weak

    • Jamie D

      June 16th, 2020 - 1:20pm

In what way? They don’t look any worse than any other figure to me.

    • James17

      June 16th, 2020 - 1:42pm

I just think they look really cartoonish. The eyes look like puppy dog eyes and Yates has got some barbie-red cheeks. Maybe they’ll be better in hand
