Big Finish The Fourth Doctor Adventures Lethal Progress

Future Shocks

Tom Baker and Sadie Miller are back in the TARDIS for The Fourth Doctor Adventures: Lethal Progress, a box set of three brand-new full-cast audio dramas, available now.

The adventures of the fabulous Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) and his courageous companion, the journalist Sarah Jane Smith (Sadie Miller), continue today with a box set of three brand-new episodes set during Season 13 of classic era Doctor Who.

In these full-cast audio dramas, the time travellers head into the future of humanity, where many great scientific leaps are being made across the stars. But every new advance has its risks – sometimes very deadly ones.

There’s an alien world with a mysterious model village, and a race against time to prevent a disaster on a space station. Then, a trip to a cultural festival leads to Sarah performing on a very dangerous stage.

Doctor Who – The Fourth Doctor Adventures: Lethal Progress is now available to purchase for just £19.99 (download to own) or £24.99 (download to own + collector’s edition 3-disc CD box set) exclusively at www.bigfinish.com. Please note: the collector’s edition CD box set is strictly limited to 1,500 copies and will not be re-pressed.

The three new tales featuring the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane are:

Green and Pleasant Planet by Tim Foley

The Doctor and Sarah find themselves exploring an alien world alongside a British space expedition. It’s never been visited before… so what’s a model village doing on the surface of the planet?

Finding the answer may prove deadly.

The Continuum by John Dorney

The Doctor and Sarah land on the space-station Daedalus on the day it makes history.
The first journey through hyperspace has just been completed. But it hasn’t gone as smoothly as posterity suggests.

Something terrible is happening – and the clock is ticking down.

The Audience by Lizzie Hopley

A cultural festival on Gakoria should be light relief for the TARDIS crew.

But when one of the cast of a play dies, Sarah has to join the troupe. And the Audience on this world are very demanding.

Because on this planet… the play’s the thing.

The guest cast of Green and Pleasant Planet comprises Nisha Nayar, Orlando Gibbs, Clive Hayward and Esther Coles. The Continuum features Jake Wardle (known for Twin Peaks and Masters of the Air) and Alexander Cobb (Marvel’s Moon Knight), as well as Lucy Goldie, Sean Connolly and Carla de Wansey. And, The Audience guest stars Dawn Murphy, Homer Todiwala and Claire Louise Amias.

Sadie Miller, who plays the Doctor’s companion Sarah Jane Smith, said of the three episodes: “Green and Pleasant Planet has a very Jonathan Swift feel, and there’s something quintessentially British about it. It’s a very layered story, and the more you listen to it, you pick up notes of William Blake in there as well. I think it’s a real classic in the making.

“The Continuum takes place in real time, so you’re immersed in this experience, you have that very modern energy. But it’s still a traditional Doctor Who story, with a John Carpenter element of horror meets sci-fi, so it’s very spooky, very exciting.

“I thought that the script for The Audience was very interesting,” Miller continued, “very theatrical, obviously, and there’s quite a lot in it that’s evocative of a play like Hamlet. There are so many moments of breaking the fourth wall in a number of different senses, which was really interesting.”
