The girlfriend doesn,t want something ‘that horrible’ in the house. Had to compromise, so its looking like The big chief Master with Troll doll instead. Didn,t mention the price for that though coleman.

Lol. I remember you commented a while back that you showed her the new CGI Version of the Troll from Autons and she freaked out.

I was just looking on Youtube and someone has built a superb light up version of The Timelash for the 6th doctor and peri CO figures. It shows a step by step guide to how he built it as well. Honestly these skilled custom makers really know there stuff. I dont know where they source all the materials. With the release of the borad shortly someone else mentioned they too planned to build there own. It certainly got me thinking about attempting one but if i do an Eaglemoss a like do you have the timelash closed with insignia or open with glowing inner timelash and what do you use for this. Its really starting to build a trend and i have quite a few white blocks of white polymer so painting wouldnt be much of an issue if i can keep it dust free whyllst building.

Yes, never mentioned that before, but I have an hell of a job keeping my FIMO dust and bits free while making customs. I’ve seen some customisers using all different colours of clay to get the desired effect because they never paint them.
I don’t know how they do it because Fimos so sticky and my figures look dirty when finished so l have to paint them to make them look decent.
InWonder if any other customisers on here have the same problem?

Try coloured premo sculpey coleman. As i say theres more rigidity and less mess. You can still varnish the finished item if you think the item isnt decent enough or to standard although Sometimes a varnishing isnt really required.

Great to have you on the Collections Ergon. A couple of excellent models to begin, and raises the anticipation for more to come.

Thanks a lot tim. Im on with 2 at the moment and the detailings tricky but im going to try and stick a couple more up next week and as soon as i can The kandyman which i want just right as eaglemoss in all likelihood wont be doing one. Hope youve got more colourful exclusives to spring on us. How about some more of those that others never think to do. I like those.

Thanks werewolf. Its one of the reasons i decided to make one in advance. I,m sure styggron will show up before long. I,m thinking of doing a timelash for 6th and the forthcoming Borad but im not sure what material to use for the inside if i do as yet. Have a few little projects on the go. Have a go yourself. Buy some polymer clay and some acrylic paints. Its a nice little hobby when you can find the time.

    Hi Ergon,

Great to see some of yours at last!

They look great and I love the Kraal pod. Not one I would have thought of doing at all! I suppose it could be possible to modify the existing Sarah figurine from the companions set but it would be VERY fiddly!

Liking your Plasmaton! I did think of doing one but I’m not a fan of Davison particularly and to be brutally honest I loathe ‘Time-Flight’ one of the worst in a series which saw me begin to fall out of love with the show. Like my Morpho Brain, I can just look at your version now!

You could make your own stands. I found them reasonable easy and using matt black enamel spray paint gave a really authentic finish.

Can’t wait to see more of yours! My Kandyman has stalled for now but I’ll get there..!

Hello Doug Who, it’s totally up to ergon of course, but if he decided to make his own Eaglemoss bases and used FIMO polymer clay, it comes in all different colours. He could buy black clay so he wouldn’t even have to paint it.

Thanks Doug. much appreciated Ive wanted to do the Kraal pod for ages. Its watching all the 70s 80s episodes that gave me the idea of doing more props to compliment the existing figures we have. There are so many i want to do. its remembering all those props we got in those CO sets that got me thinking like The Sarcophagus from Pyramids, the columns from castrovalva, the masters clock, the kites from greatest show i could go on and on. Also seeing those maggots you did coming out of the shells partly inspired and spurred me on when some of the ones i thought would be so simple proved quite the opposite but i persevere. i will be doing other figurines but i will be spacing them out between these. being a perfectionist i,m never happy and then theres the self doubt and nerves when trying to get those tiniest details just right. I may do as coleman mentioned for the larger stands and cut them from another. I love doing these when i have spare time but not to take up too much. those few hours i get spare each week seem to go by so quickly and don,t seem to have achieved that much. i,m determined to get those eyes and that infernal wiring done on that Kandyman before i start any more big projects.

Coleman its funny you just said that i have a full 1lb block of fimo. I used a little on the kandyman figurine for the yellow licquorice piece. I don,t know if you use coloured premo doug but i also used pink for the body and crimson sculpey for the stripes around the body in thin strips. It helps if you dont wish to paint it all and saves time.

I meant to say the fimo block is black.

Nice one ergon, so that will save you time and money if you have black clay already. I never splashed out on the big FIMO packs I only bought the small 56 gram ones. Are they ok?

Its great for extra detailing or larger features coleman but i find premo sculpey a lot more rigid and easier to work with. I must have spent over £100 in 1lb white blocks up to now. Thats how commited to these ive become.

Ah ah ergon, I was going to ask you how you went on with that Chrome marker on the faceplate or the Raston Warrior.
Then I remembered it hasn’t been released yet. (Oh dear).

      September 18th, 2021 - 6:16pm

I,ve recently bought 2 Mirror effect liquid chrome markers and they do the trick for metal parts for these pieces. I,m going to wait for the Raston warrior robot. If i think the faceplate doesn,t look right i,m going to use the markers on them. Also i was comparing both eaglemoss and Harrop omegas yesterday and the harrop figurine has that darker gold metal mask which looks more authentic than the light Gold eaglemoss used so i may just do some repainting on that one.

Welcome ergon, youve finally joined collections.
They look excellent, if Eaglemoss made them I don’t think they’d be any better because yours are so detailed and we’ll painted. Looking forward to the Kandyman and the rest of the customs now and watching your collection grow.
Only thing I would say is have you tried putting that Pod from Android invasion on a black stand like the rest? It would just finish it off.
I’d make one ergon if you can’t get hold of a spare special stand. (I think it would look great).
I think if it was ever made by Eaglemoss it would have to be a special because of the Length of it. (Hence a special sized base for it)
    Great work though.

Thanks for your kind words coleman. I actually never thought about putting the pod on a stand. I just thought of it as a prop and not even as a special. At the moment i,m on with one that could potentially be a figurine but due to size would have to be a special. I tried on a smaller stand and in all honesty didnt work so i started over. Also i dont have any larger stands so that handicaps doing the larger stuff. I was going to varnish the plasmaton but it wouldn,t have looked right. As it is it looks perfectly at home amongst the 5th doctor figurines. I know there not the most desired but its not so detailed and mperhaps eaglemoss could one and kalid whyll there at it.

      September 17th, 2021 - 12:18pm

Yes the Plasmaton looks fine as it is without further embellishment.
That would be a good idea ergon, if you start a figure but it turns out larger than you expected just have it as a special instead if scrapping it altogether. Eaglemoss have made Specials out of figures that could have been in the normal collection already.
If you want any Special Bases, just roll out some Clay with a rolling pin then use one of your Special Bases as a template and cut round with a scalpel.

I never thought of that. Thats an idea. Ive got a few ideas that are props for existing figures that might just be too small or large or would have to be another companys merchandise. CO and UT have done various props for their figure sets in the past but i thought of props that might not get done.. the kraal pod i wanted originally as an open casket but i had visions of sarah jane as android sitting bolt upright in there and i couldnt do it justice. Anyway i,d have liked the faceless android sarah. Im doing more standard figurines but they take time to get just right.
