On the left is the new modern-era (2005) mega-Dalek, 23-cm tall and intimidating in its hand-painted seared metal glory – out now. On the right is his partner, joining the Doctor Who mega-figurine set in the spring – a Dead Planet Dalek from the First Doctor’s initial jaunt to Skaro in December 1963. We’ll be shouting about this in the new year.

£85 for a 23cm static figurine? WHat a con. The 12″ RC ones only cost £40…. and they do more than simply sit there doing nothing in their tinyness.

I dont get why they dont seem to do the 12″ models seeing as they wre clealry so popular. Id pay £85 any day for a 12″ RC model.

Very disappointed i cant find anything interesting thats worth the money any more -its all a bit exploitative, really.

Harrops charge £65 for a Dalek 19cm tall, the 12″ daleks are mass produced plastic

get things into perspective before branding something a con

calling something a con is not opinion its a false statement and actually insulting to the company when no con or deceit has been committed

It’s a piece of art while the plastic remote Daleks are toys!! Do some research before you speak!

Wait I’m confused!?, do I get these big daleks as apart of my subscription?, or do you have to order them separately????

You have to order them seperately. They are more expensive.

      October 13th, 2016 - 7:46pm

They are not part of the subscription and nor are the bonus Daleks, you have to buy them separately if you want them.

      October 13th, 2016 - 9:23pm

What are you confused?? Why would they send you for free a 100£ Dalek? Lol. This is a separate line.

Love that they are going to be making a giant Cyberman next. I will definitely have to buy that one also. These mega statues are starting to grow on me.

A cyberking, wooden cyberman, attack of the cybermen controller, silver nemesis cybermen or tenth planet one would be great, I don’t think any cybus 10th/11th doctor cybermen are necessary as character did 12″ ones a decade ago.

Looks like the next two Rare Daleks for subscribers are the “Wilkie Dalek” from “Evil of the Daleks” and a Mutant Scoop Dalek from “Evil of the Daleks”.

They’re actually doing that? The Wilkie Dalek with one panel at the back? wow. I’m surprised! Also, you made an error. The Mutant Scoop dalek is from Power of the Daleks.

    • The Werewolf

      October 11th, 2016 - 9:20pm

Yes, I meant “Power”. And yes, the Wilkie Dalek with the one panel, it’s on Ben Robinson’s twitter. Not a pic of the Dalek, just confirmation of what it is.

      October 13th, 2016 - 10:53am

It was a Dalek prop (alternatively known as “Dalek Eight”) built for Evil of the Daleks. For unknown reasons the body was redesigned to make it slimmer, which most visibly means the back panel only has a single column of Dalek bumps rather than the conventional two.

The top half was seemingly badly damaged at some point and the base was used as part of the Dalek that appears in The War Games. That composite prop was salvaged by a man named Bernard Wilkie, who kept it in a barn for his kids to play with. He eventually donated it to an exhibition, and if I remember correctly Peter Jackson owns it now (what’s left of it at any rate).

There’s a video of the base from 2006 up if you look for it, it was in quite a state, but you can still see the rather unique design.

      October 13th, 2016 - 12:28pm

Yeah, interestingly they’ve gone for something that’s not so much a ‘Dalek character’ in terms of the story it appears in, but more an interesting oddball prop in a behind the scenes sense.

I have received the mega bronze dalek and the bonus 1 and 2 daleks today. Overall very pleased but the mega dalek could have a better finish to the paint. The factory package marks the mega dalek as figure 2 in the collection.

I think he means the brown cardboard box the bronze mega Dalek ships in says ‘figure 2’ on it – I noticed that on mine and thought it odd!

These look really good, definitely going to get the Dead Planet Dalek when it comes out. Hope they do a Dalek invasion of Earth one next or an imperial Dalek, that would look great.

A special weapons dalek, imperial guard dalek with sensor arm, power of the daleks dalek with scoop or even a supreme dalek from planet of the daleks/dalek invasion of earth. Any of those would be awesome.

I hope they get the colours right, they used a lead grey where the correct grey is actually “mechanus standard grey” for the neck rings, waist band and base. I had to correct it myself, I bought seven and painted them red, Orange, blue, yellow, green, white and red with a black dome. I don’t know why they messed up the paradigm neck rings, the photo on the front cover is impossible to miss.

A lot better than the odd-looking 2005 Dalek. Personally I think it would’ve looked better in Magician’s Apprentice colours though

I’m loving this idea so much, more renouned daleks in bigger scales, I didn’t think that the small one really did it justice as the paint was iffy, this looks to be slightly bigger than characters one but smaller than the 12″ rc character range.
I always welcome new daleks in any scale. I actually made a new paradigm dalek emperor from city of the daleks (the 2010 adventure game) by using another emperor I had from eaglemoss. I hope the paradigm daleks are covered!
