Who-ray! Event with Graeme Harper

Re:Generations Doctor Who & Dalek Event (Stockton-On-Tees) 2nd July

A celebration of all things Who-related, in honour of the series esteemed past and phenomenally successful present, and to mark the Who-ray! shop’s 1st year in Stockton Town Centre.

More updates on the Website and on the Who-ray Facebook page!

Their special guest is the legendary Dr Who TV Director, Graeme Harper, who will be signing copies of his book, ‘Calling the Shots’, a chronicle of his time on Dr Who. He will also be available for photo opportunities.

A limited number of lucky participants can purchase special tickets from Who-ray! to attend an afternoon cream tea with Graeme Harper hosted by Brian from Who-ray!, and quiz him on his career in TV spanning 40 years.

They will be joined by THREE LIVE DALEKS, who will be available for photo opportunities.

Christian Cawley from kasterborous.com (subject to change) will also be attending signing his book: Ultimate Regeneration.

Bob Fischer from BBC Tees will be quizzing Graeme (An Audience with..) in the afternoon.

There are five specially-commissioned knitted Who monsters up for grabs – we call them ‘BAAA-LEKS’: Doreen, Tango, Domino, Sky & Custard will be raffled individually, all proceeds donated to the Butterwick House Children’s Hospice.

Tickets are on sale now at £1 each from Who-ray!

The raffle will be drawn by Graeme Harper at 3pm on 2 July, & to win the ticket-holder must be present.

For those who don’t know, Graeme’s association with Doctor Who began in the mid-1960s, working alongside Jon Pertwee & Tom Baker, and he directed some of its best-loved episodes in the 1980s. In 2005 he returned to the series, directing David Tennant’s Doctor in the episodes Rise of the Cybermen, The Age of Steel, Army of Ghosts and Doomsday. The events in these stories included the birth of the Cybermen, their confrontation with the Daleks, and Rose’s departure.

In 2006, Graeme directed the episodes 42 and Utopia. The latter re-introduced the Doctor’s arch-nemesis the Master, played by Sir Derek Jacobi & John Simm.

In 2007 Graeme directed episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures, reuniting him with Elisabeth Sladen, who he last worked alongside as a production assistant on The Seeds of Doom in 1976. Following a string of Dr Who episodes in 2008, including Planet of the Ood, The Unicorn and the Wasp, & Turn Left, Graeme worked once more with Liz when he directed his 2nd two-parter season finale, The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End.

As the only director to have worked on both classic and new Doctor Who, Graeme Harper is uniquely qualified to reveal how the show’s techniques have evolved.
