Thirteenth Doctor 5 inch scale figure News

Character options (UK)

A 5 inch version of the figure by Character Options has been put up for order on at least two sites, Galaxy 4 have had it up for pre-order for a few days now, and more recently The Who Shop.

We are just waiting for it to be confirmed by Character Options or the BBC although this seems some days away yet.

A ’13th Doctor Electronic TARDIS’ was put up on Zappies earlier in the year, they also listed the 10 inch scale figure and Sonic Screwdriver which were correct and have since been released. No scale was given but this could be a 5 inch flight control TARDIS.

Announcements for any TARDIS merchandise is probably waiting until it is seen onscreen first in an episode.

Seven20 (USA)

Seven20 announced after SDCC that they were making a 5.5 inch scale action figure that would be exclusive to Toot’s Toys . We believe they are awaiting sign-off from the BBC before they can put it up for sale.

Note that the 5″ and 5.5″ scale range is basically the same, it just had the reference changed when the Collectors series was released a few years ago.

In other news…

Although no confirmation from B&M has been forthcoming it seems there could be another Doctor / Tardis set early next year which includes already released items, this time 4th Doctor related. Staff are also suggesting more figure sets possibly containing more than 3 figures maybe on the way. We stress there has been no official confirmation of these.

At the time of writing there are now 13 Thirteenth Doctor Figures of some description either already announced or due soon.

    “Hello again,

just to help with the speculation. There are definitely repeat orders of the latest B&M 3 figure packs coming. However there are some updated paint apps and changes for the re-release .. partly because production runs change and therefore colours and spray masking changes mean they are never the same, but also this is a re-order and never happened before for B&M on Doctor Who so there are major differences to the decoration on at least one figure in each set (and the packaging images) to maintain B&M exclusivity on these sets.

The 3rd Doctor & TARDIS set has NOT been reordered (again to maintain exclusivity) but there will be a SECOND interim release this year of a NEW Doctor & TARDIS set before next years raft of new products.

There is also a 13th Doctor figure very close to approval so you should see some press release and images for this item before the end of November at the latest. It’s very cool!

I can’t, though I’d like to, give you any more details on the changes or on availability as the shipping dates have nothing to do with when the retailer decides to put stock oneself and where. Also I would advise strongly against badgering B&M or especially CO Customer Services for updates as neither will have ANY new information until the stock arrives with them and even then it will be a case of asking at individual stores when the time comes. ”

its no particular secret who fab14 is a don’t think but its interesting he says the 4th Doctor Tardis set is due this year, It as and B&M’s system for Feb i think

I know these figure sets sold well but hope there is enough demand for a re-run. I can see core collectors having to buy existing variants to get the new ones.

I also think because of the “hassle” over the last sets we are unlikely to find out anything about these until they are on the shelves.

also sounds like the 13th Doctor announcement maybe someway off yet

I think it is interesting (but maybe nothing) that the phrase “NEW Doctor” is used (with emphasis on NEW) rather than ‘4th Doctor variant’.

There seemed to be a lead of a good few month between the 3rd Doctor set being officially announced and it arriving in store – there is not much of this year left, and you’d think B&M would already have their shelves/stock planned for Christmas.

possibly the 13th Doctor or new packaging, as far as we know the 4th Doctor Tardis set is a definite

The ‘first batch’ still didn’t make it here at all, and probably never will as the Who isle is filled to the brim with the 9th Doctor sets, so this new batch still won’t make it here.

The Werewolf, I’m in Gravesend in Kent and it’s the same here, no new sets at all because of all the leftover 9th Dr sets.

Personally, I doubt it’ll be a 5” 13th Doctor and TARDIS, as The Who Shop and Zappies have the 13th Doctor 5” figure listed separately. If the figure would come with a TARDIS, then it would say so.
I’m hoping its the 8th Doctor and TARDIS (as, as far as I know, we haven’t had one of those yet)

Do we have some credible sources about those possible new B&M sets? Because the only time I’ve seen it was a fan saying he had been told that by a B&M employee in a shop, and that sounded more like hearsay

That was me, a lady at my local b&m checked on the computer for 3rd Dr and Tardis sets and told me that they were now out of stock at the main warehouse but there was an order for that product code (possibly a different dr and Tardis using the same code) due in February 2019.

This information was then confirmed by Mick who works at a b&m store and he even told us 7000 sets were on order. (Only 4000 of the 3rd dr Tardis sets were made)

Thought this reboot may have given CO’s the excuse to stop the 5′ range. In some ways this may have been a good place to stop. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved this range of figures, but it’s been so disjointed and half hearted over the last few years, and you don’t really feel they’re behind the product.
Just curious as to why no comments enabled for Doctor Who Barbie?

Its retailers that havne’t been interested for years now not character. that’s well established.

Comments are off on barbie because its clear Barbie Collectors (who love this product) and Doctor Who collectors Don’t mix well and it deteriorated into another PC battle rather than anything to do with the product.

its the same Tradis, infact you can definitely see a black base in some 4th episodes, the top police box bars did alter a bit form episode to episode

if you look here http://www.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/tardis/exterior/1966-tardis/ you cna see what it looked like in every story note seeds of doom def has black base

      October 11th, 2018 - 12:07pm

Not Booboo, but yeah, the prop used in the Time Monster is the same one as the one used in the early 4th Doctor episodes. In fact, it’s same prop as the one from the very first episode, though it was refurbished a bit.

    • Scott

      October 11th, 2018 - 4:55pm

Yes the 3rd Doctor release could pass for a 4th Tardis right up to the Seeds of Doom, maybe a repaint here or there. However, the CO Police Box could also easily pass for any Baker box up until the end of season 17 imo. One possibility is they repaint the McCoy box a darker shade and release a season 18 Tom with it.

    • The Outcast

      October 12th, 2018 - 8:44am

I should probably mention that the CO toy isn’t accurate in the slightest to the Brachacki or Newbery TARDIS props. The dimensions are based on the Tom Yardley-Jones box, which was used from Season 18 – to the end of original run of the show. The most accurate toy released to this date, therefor, is the Season 26 Curse of Fenric box, though that still has some inaccuracies due to the alterations made to it when they realised it wouldn’t be cost effective to make three different Classic TARDIS toys (which was their original intention).

The most accurate TARDIS toy they could make without remolding parts would be a Season 18/19 TARDIS with the darker colours (which they actually did plan to make at one point, and did make prototypes). This would be nearly entirely accurate to how the TARDIS appeared from Logopolis to Time Flight.

Absolutely not. The BBC refused to release images to “avoid spoilers”, companies are seeing the aliens as we are.

As an example Eaglemoss have been comissioning their next batch of figures (up to 150) so anything from this series will have to wait until at least issue 151.

Figures due December. What is it with Character?

The figures should be out now.

Almost ten million people have seen the first episode, think how many figures they might have sold on Monday from Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys.

Lack of Daleks this series is a major Christmas money spinner down the drain as well.

If it’s the BBC then it feels even worse. They are supposedly a huge organization. When a Marvel or DC film hits cinemas the action figures are everywhere immediately.

I’m not trying to be negative. I want lots of action figures, but to get those the ones they do release have to sell well and i just fear they are missing the commercial boat.

    • booboo

      October 10th, 2018 - 3:22pm

you can’t really compare major films franchises to Doctor Who, they are not even in the same league and have a much bigger lead in time with retailers clambering for the stock, that’s not the case here.

besides we don’t have an official release date yet could be sooner than we think.

    • Demdike@CultLabs

      October 10th, 2018 - 3:40pm

Have you hit the nail on the head there when you said retailers clambering for stock and that not being the case with Doctor Who anymore?

Hopefully things will improve in that regard.

    • Bundy

      October 10th, 2018 - 6:47pm

I can’t see the BBC saying that every other possible variant of 13th Doctor figure is good to release before the first episode, but when it comes to a 5.5″ figure (from a range that was to most people the only real merchandise range for a lot of years) a release has to wait until after Christmas.

    • Demdike@CultLabs

      October 11th, 2018 - 1:57pm

Sainsburys have at least got in on the Doctor Who act.

Not with figures but with dvds. Both the classic Regeneration box sets and Key to Time as well as things like Dalek War and selected new series season box sets. Also that new Women Who Lived hardback for under a tenner which was really nice but seemingly aimed at younger readers than myself.

they were always 5.5″ in scale, the 5″ bit coming from the height of the Daleks used by collectors, 12th Doctor boots were wrong which caused the problem with that one.

I’m not sure why this and bill are suddenly been marketed at 5″ after 5.5″ had been drummed into everyone over the last few years though just adds to the confusion.
