Doctor Who The Essential Guide #8 Adventures in History

In this packed issue, Andrew Pixley reveals Donald Cotton’s notes for the 1965 story The Myth Makers, timelines chart the Doctor’s adventures from the creation of the Earth through to 1963, and 15 trips into history are revisited, from the era of the First Doctor right through to that of the Twelfth.

Editor Marcus Hearn says: “History in Doctor Who is about much more than the purely historical stories that were made in the 1960s. We decided to follow the Doctor’s entire journey through Earth history, with some of our best writers and designer Peri Godbold as our guides. We’ve never done anything quite like this before, and some of the rare pictures we’ve uncovered are amazing.”

The Essential Doctor Who: Adventures in History is on sale now at WH Smith and all good newsagents, price £9.99.

They have sort of done this – When the Doctor Who Magazine Specials started in 2002 they did the doctors under the sub heading “The Complete xth Doctor”. They did the 5th in issue 1, 3rd in issue 2, 6th in issue 3, 2nd in issue 4, 8th in issue 5, 1st in issue 7, 4th volume 1 in issue 8, 4th volume 2 in issue 9, and the 7th in issue 10. (Issue 6 was a 40th anniversary special called “We “heart” Doctor Who”

Looks great! didn’t think they would be able to publish any more issues of these because there would be nothing left to do, but they always manage to publish brilliant issues/bookazines.

I think they could do one for each doctor and have an actor bio including a list of other Non who related acting parts. Then it could have a list of story titles along with a good 3X4 inch photo of each adventure and a synopsis. Then each companion could have a photo with a list of other non who acting parts. And then finally some fan art photos or alternate dvd cover art that you can cut out and attach to your dvd collection.

An Essential on UNIT is what I am really hoping for.
