Yeah. I agree, but she is quite well known as a villain because she was part of the Series 6 story arc. Despite this, I probably would have preferred it if they put Sutekh on the cover instead.

It makes sense from a marketing point of view though: having more villains that younger and newer viewers who have not seen much classic who will recognise will sell more copies to members of the public who aren’t particularly classic fans, and thus make more money.

I would think they could probably get one more year of 3 MagBooks out of this approach – to see us through 2016 – say, ‘The Timelords’, ‘UNIT’ and maybe one other?

That’s exactly what I thought! UNIT & The TimeLords for next books! Another one could be to do with K-9, such as Robots and Other Mechanical Creatures?

Fantastic, just picked up No.4. A really good series and well worth the £9.99. I believe the earlier 50 years edition are starting to be quite collectible

YES ! YES ! YES !, I always hoped they would do one about Davros !! [even if this one is also about other Villains].

So much for my ‘Essential Doctor Who – Davros’ cover I made a while back http://doctorwhoone.deviantart.com/art/The-Essential-Doctor-Who-Davros-539990305

Then again, maybe whoever produces the Essential Doctor Who issues probably browsed Deviant Art one day and came across my cover and thought “hey that’s a good idea, let’s do one about Davros and various other villains the Doctor has met down the last 50 odd years” 😀

    If so, I’m honoured 🙂

Astroaught of Death – I did say “if so”, so I didn’t intend my comment to come and say “they are making it because of my Deviant Art upload”, and chances are, they was gonna make this new issue anyhow even if I did not make my mock up cover.

Bit of a tacky title if you ask me. I know that they’ve included Davros in the title because he’s a well known character (i.e. it will stand out more on the shelf so more people will buy it), although I would’ve honestly preferred just ‘Villains and something’.
It looks like an interesting read, however they do seem to be running low on ideas with this series…maybe this will be the last one?

I was thinking that… Maybe they would’ve been better releasing them a bit more gradually, as it seems to be running out of steam.

Could have just called it Masterminds and Megalomaniacs
