This is (reduced to) 35 quid in HMV, and is just £30 to order offa play.com

    I know which I’m going for !!!

  6. Posted by: McGann is the Doctor. January 15th, 2011 Reply

With the Limited-ed version the cover is just a shiny plasticy-steel which IMO is far inferior to the fabulous and really, quite marvellous standard cover. But with the steel one, while the cover may be worse, I believe you get a set of art-cards with valuable notes/information on the Series from Steven Moffat. But for me personally, I dont need that and Ive got plenty of intel on this latest Series as it is! Thats a reason why thid new boxset with its relatively unfulling array of features doesnt bother me much. But wait to get it cheaper. ;)

WHAT IS THE POINT OF THE EXCLUSIVE METAL CASE?? YOU ARE REALLY BUYING IT FOR THE DVD’S NOT FOR THE CASE!!

    • Posted by: RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND June 30th, 2011

i stand by what i said in january!!!

  8. Posted by: McGann is the Doctor. January 1st, 2011 Reply

-I hear ya. Lately, due to the governments policy of “conserve conserve conserve” rather than “earn earn earn, and pay off the debts” everyones gone seriously topsy-turvey I understand.

Nothins as cheap as it used to be, not even character options toy-producing industry. Thats why everything cant be 110% good. That Cyberman in the Pandorica-set everyones moaning about? If you think CO should have made it wit a severred arm, more wires hang from the neck and a face that opens and closes, boy, that would cost a whole lot more than £8.99…

  9. Posted by: David December 27th, 2010 Reply

A good box set but in comparison to the previous series sets this does look like it was produced more cheaply; smaller box, no elaborate fold-out inner packaging, no booklet, only six commentaries… still cool though

  13. Posted by: McGann is the Doctor. November 23rd, 2010 Reply

-Sounds like a freakin rip to me. A Dr Who adventure is worth a hellofalot more than 50p! Absurd, hate the DVD files.

Get the proper DVDs by 2Entertain, thats the real deal. Nuff said.

    • Posted by: RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND June 30th, 2011

i don’t like dvd files, i don’t by them but my friend does. they take up so much room and this box set takes up hardly any!!!!

i got that one cos i wanted to see the first ep!

  16. Posted by: biggest doctor who fan October 29th, 2010 Reply

i wonder how much it’s gonna cost
like the sound of ther mini episodes
the volume 1 etc, are very annoying as you have to look round not knowing where it might be
however if you have a boxset they’re all in the one box then you’ve got them all safe
due to the price i’m just going to be series 1 or the specials for xmas as they’re selling series 1 (2005)as(series 5) will probs be to expensive in shop
might get it soon if they decide to slash the price

    • Posted by: RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND June 30th, 2011

i calculated that buying the whole box set is cheaper than getting dvd files. well my sis and mum calculated. well my sis did.

What we should do is, for the Series 5 display of figures, get the figure of the Cyberleader from Doomsday, the same appearance of Cyberleader returns for the Series 5 finale, so due to the fact that the Cybermen had alot to do with Series 5 (not really, but you know) I would try get that Cyberleader. There is a single release of it, in America, but theres always ebay!

“my sister is gettin me this for my 13th birthday on 22nd of november!”

Well thats good you have the boxset than the Volumes, a vastly better buy, but perhaps too much of a good thing, the price is throught the roof, so be sure to check on Amazon. Iam pleased very, with the cover. I always imagined the last thing you see in Series 5 shouldve been the Eleventh Doctors theme, while we see like, all these drawn images, or something for some reason, of all the things theyve seen over their journeys.

I’ve got the complete third series on DVD because the Master is my favorite villan. I want the complete fifth series boxset becuase the Pandorica Opens and the Big Bang are the best episodes of series 5. Also it inlcudes DW confidential and many more things. Now everyone say it, BOW-TIES ARE COOL!

  42. Posted by: who crazy! July 28th, 2010 Reply

I agree with you but only just because the trial of a timelord is a boxset on dvd! The reason why i agree with you is that i haven’t got any colin baker who adventures on dvd!

  43. Posted by: CardClashersHub July 27th, 2010 Reply

all the 6th doctor stories have been released on dvd. who thinks there should be a boxset of ALL the stories hes done?

  45. Posted by: nesbitt412thdoctor July 26th, 2010 Reply

Who agrees with me that they should release all of the classic seasons on DVD boxsets?

  46. Posted by: Lee July 26th, 2010 Reply

The limited edition boxset does look like it is presented in a steelbook.

  47. Posted by: who crazy! July 25th, 2010 Reply

    This boxset will enclude:

All the series episodes: The eleventh hour, The beast bellow, Victory of the daleks, The time of angels, Flesh and stone, The vampires of venice, Amy’s choice, The hungry earth, Cold blood, Vincent and the doctor, The lodger, The pandorica opens, The big bang.

And all of the doctor who contidentials for the series:

I would buy it if i were you!

  48. Posted by: who crazy! July 24th, 2010 Reply

Some monsters on the front with the doctor and amy would make the box set look cool!

There is a great 3d poster that would have made good cover, jut the usual vortex image but it looks great moving

  60. Posted by: SL July 21st, 2010 Reply

Nice standard boxset cover, the image of Matt could work well with a decent image of Karen which is just a flipped image, Alas it is a draft..

  61. Posted by: The Master July 21st, 2010 Reply

I hope that’s a tin box, it looks like one

  62. Posted by: JaredOfMO July 21st, 2010 Reply

I read there’ll be a couple mini-episodes showing you some extra scenes in the TARDIS taking place inbetween the episodes, as well as Confidentials (probably the cut-down versions), and Matt Smith’s video diaries. I’m hoping they’ll also have deleted scenes. Seeing as previous DVDs have had them, looks promising.

  63. Posted by: booboo July 21st, 2010 Reply

Same contents, different packaging i assume, cant tell from the image. maybe its a tin or plastic box or something like that

  64. Posted by: The bean doctor July 21st, 2010 Reply

This is so cool but what are the differences between the 2 boxsets

  65. Posted by: The Hand of Omega July 21st, 2010 Reply

Looks good, be good to get the full list of extras

  66. Posted by: rob July 21st, 2010 Reply

I usually buy the box sets, like the look of the ltd packaging

  67. Posted by: JaredOfMO July 21st, 2010 Reply

The American release is currently scheduled for November 9. Usually the UK gets DVDs of their shows before America, but this looks as if they’ve really put the release dates very close together.
