Got my despatch notice from BBC Shop today, and they’re usually very fast, so I may well get it tomorrow!

This and the 8th Doctor were my most anticipated figures of the year so get them both before Christmas (and before the Sherlock special) is the icing on the cake.

I just have to think of something else to ask for for my birthday in January now…

I’ve just noticed that FP have taken some money from my account, which is odd as this is the only thing I have on pre-order with them.

After phoning them they informed me that this item is now being processed so it may well be sent out before xmas!

I wonder if the head and scarf can be removed.
I plan to repaint the shirt and the scarf to match what was seen in episode of season 1.

I’d love to get a Kryten figure. 🙂
Never going to happen though, as BBC doesn’t hold the rights to Red Dwarf anymore, and as Dave would never ever get figures made. 🙁

      -Dr John Watson

      -Mary Morston
      -Mrs Hudson
      -Molly Hooper
      -Mycroft Holmes

Never mind Bergerac, where’s my Luther figure??

There was a point I’d have liked/hoped for some Jekyll and Hyde figures, but it seems to be doing so poorly ratings – wise I doubt it’ll happen now.

I’m slightly concerned by the arms. Does anyone know exactly how many points of articulation this has?

The bottom image appears to be some form of prototype with less articulation. The image above it shows the figure with standard elbow articulation and swivel joints on the biceps, as well as the old standard shoulder articulation present on both. I reckon it’ll have at least the same articulation as, for example, the Eleven Doctors set figures.

    • RhysCH

      September 20th, 2015 - 12:25pm

In the top one I can see 4 points of articulation (shoulders, biceps, elbows, wrists). I don’t think there’s a ball joint at the shoulder though.

So pleased I ordered from BBC with their free postage….I also ordered when they had a 15% discount. £11 is such great value….esp when you consider to pay £18.50 from FPI for the vastly inferior 12th Doctor figures.

      September 16th, 2015 - 10:15pm

of course the other side to this is the The Collectors range may not have happened at all without those involved and committing to it wanting a good return for their investment, but of course no one would think of that

    • Anonymous

      September 16th, 2015 - 10:58pm

It’s a very good point, but I just can’t help feeling that ‘those involved’ fleece the hardcore collectors by putting out slight variants (meaning lower manufacturing costs) knowing that most of the collectors will buy all 4 versions, even though there are no accessories and the figure is ok to good at best. Yet they can put out an amazing Sherlock figure with cool accessories at a significantly lower cost – I believe its like this…they know the Sherlock figure wont have the same appeal so they have to price it carefully and make the set more attractive…whereas, although DW clearly don’t have a mass market appeal, they know fine well that the hardcore collectors (which is what exclusive deals are aimed at) will sell very well even if they are over priced and not great value for money. I myself will buy the 12th Doctor figure in all 4 variants even though it annoys me that I am essentially buying the exact same figure with different licks of paint on the shirt. Even if they give away a different accessory with each variant would be something…it would be a token gesture of them trying to provide value for money. I don’t think its good enough to accept poor value for money just because we’re constantly told its this or nothing. Maybe the BBC should give the licence to a company that can make it work rather than watch the fans of their flagship drama being fleeced by companies that cant make it work.

    • booboo

      September 16th, 2015 - 11:14pm

I very much suspect those involved want a good return for their investment and commitment and the ability to be flexible within their business frame.

We seem to be talking toys r us here as a player

we are also not privy to the associated licensing and rights costs all which play a factor

there are only likely to be 3-4 key Sherlock figures with almost guaranteed sales where as if we want good variety within the collectors range then the costs need to be spread.

people have very short memoires and i doubt any other company would have given you the massive range of new and classic figures we have had to date but to move forward the business model had to be right for the retailers involved.

    • Braxos

      September 17th, 2015 - 12:00pm

Well there may be other factors at play here. Sherlock is a very small license in comparison to Doctor Who.

Being a smaller license, it may command a smaller royalty fee which can translate to a slightly lower price.

Nice looking prototype, but you would expect that from the sculptor involved.

I’m assuming that this is actually 5.5″, like the DW figures, and not 5″ like the annoyingly-just-out-of-scale-with-DW Robin Hood figures a few years ago…? Otherwise it will be rather irritating to display… 😀

      August 13th, 2015 - 11:46am

Thanks, I thought so too but those Robin Hood guys are seriously annoyingly just out of scale and Sherlock would be even more annoying if it were because everybody wants to make ‘WhoLock’! (although Little John, being taller than the others, makes a good younger War Doctor for those of us still without our own War Doctor figure)

    • TheDarkAndTheLight

      August 13th, 2015 - 1:51pm

Even more annoying than the Robin Hood figures being out of scale was the Torchwood ones being so, too. Only really the Weevils were passable, as they were hunched over. Plus they weren’t based on an individual character, so they could just have been a bigger member of their species than any that had appeared on screen. But there was no way you could have Gwen standing taller than the Tenth Doctor for example without it looking just wrong.

    • Nobody in particular

      August 14th, 2015 - 3:42pm

I think what’s even annoying than the Torchwood figures being out of scale was the new Doctor Who ones. I mean, if we want to have the Ninth Doctor vs modern Ice Warriors, that’s not happening ;(

No connection other than UT commission items from character who hold the licence for anything doctor who toy wise

UT have the Sherlock licence although they could use the same factory in china presumably
