Underground Toys are pleased to announce the details of their 2010 San Diego Comic Con exclusive classic Doctor Who items – The 5th Doctor in Regeneration Outfit and The 5th Doctor & The Master from Planet of Fire

masterfithpackaging500

THE FIFTH DOCTOR

His youthful appearance belied his wisdom and experience, but this Doctor still found it frustrating that so many people questioned his judgement, especially his companions. While on an alien planet he and his companion Peri contracted a disease and the Doctor gave Peri the only cure, necessitating another regeneration…

THE MASTER from ‘PLANET OF FIRE’

The Fifth Doctor and Turlough are on the island of Lanzarote because the TARDIS has detected a mysterious signal being transmitted from an unknown, recently salvaged artefact. They meet a young American botany student named Peri Brown, whose stepfather has been replaced with a shape changing robot as part of a plot by the Master. He plans to bring the TARDIS to the planet Sarn, so he can use that world’s revitalising Numismaton gas to restore his body, accidentally shrunken in an accident. The Master is apparently defeated when the stream of gas turns to a hot flame. The Doctor destroys the shape changing robot, Kamelion, at the robot’s own bidding as it has become completely unstable. Turlough leaves to return home, while Peri leaves with the Doctor.

In this exclusive set from Underground Toys we present the Master from ‘Planet of Fire’ and the Fifth Doctor. The Fifth Doctor includes his cream Panama hat and comes with a Sonic Screwdriver accessory.

I got a 5th doctor figure last year. It probally was from wave 1 of classic figures and it doesnt have a stick of celery, hat or cricket ball. But it came with a sonic screwdriver  The sonic wasnt used much in the newer episodes of the classic series because it got destroyed. I cant remember what episode it was so i am going to find out after i type these words now. I do think that master figure is just a re release of john simms suit but i dont mind because im not getting this set. I get series five figures. Erm see you in a minute

  • Posted by GallifreyRules on August 7th, 2010

on youtube, batmanmarch said that the master’s hands are the same as simms because of the rings. if they r the same hands, r they made from the waxy plastic from the series 3 release, or r they normal plastic? did ainley have any rings for his master in planet of fire?

  • Posted by booboo on August 4th, 2010

Personally I prefer the planet of fire set

  • Posted by GallifreyRules on August 4th, 2010

which one would you recomend? planet of fire set or 5th doctor regeneration? i’m stuck over which one to get.

  • Posted by Callum Metcalfe on August 4th, 2010

So when will they confirm what the figures are

  • Posted by who crazy! on August 4th, 2010

Imagine if the masters head was removable. Well its probally not! We dont want to go pulling his head off

  • Posted by M_L_D_WHO on August 3rd, 2010

    For Callum Metcalfe

I got a reply from C.O. and they said that wave 2 should be released in August this month. :)

  • Posted by GallifreyRules on August 3rd, 2010

it’s a shame that the master is mostly Simm’s torso, legs and hands with a few changes.

  • Posted by Callum Metcalfe on August 3rd, 2010

When will they announce what the wave 2 figures are and when do they come out?

  • Posted by alex on August 3rd, 2010

and the master only wore that outfit in planet of fire

  • Posted by booboo on August 3rd, 2010

Its the same body with a few alterations, doesn’t bother me to be honest. All looks fine to me

  • Posted by vortex dude on August 3rd, 2010

the new masters body dsnt have a waist coat or a cloth in his pocket

  • Posted by Joe on August 3rd, 2010

I will not be purchasing this set. Reasons why,

The masters body is exactly the same as the series 3 master. Even the rings on his hands are identical. The only difference is a small piece of plastic to represent a waistcoat under the classic master’s tie. Therefore, the body looks too slim to fit the classic master. Another reason, its a SDCC Forbidden Planet Exclusive, which i refuse to pay for unless the quality is good (like the unearthly child first doctor which i bought) and, if its cheaper than £25!. The fifth doctors hat looks too…

  • Posted by harry doolan on August 2nd, 2010

the master looks good but they should have new hand cause there the same
as the master’s in series 3!!!!

  • Posted by alex on August 2nd, 2010

the master body is the same
as the serise 3 master body to.

  • Posted by Chris97 on July 31st, 2010

I’ve got EVERY classic figure there’s been and I have ordered 2 of these sets which are due to be here on Monday!

  • Posted by C@A on July 29th, 2010

Bad use of body for the Master. It’s too slim for him. If this set was £20 I might buy it, but not £25

  • Posted by who crazy! on July 29th, 2010

I like the old series doctor who figures!

    Ive got:
    The 5th doctor ( not this 5th doctor the wave 1 5th doctor )
    Zygon
    Sea devil with ray
    the dead planet dalek
Supreme dalek ( from frontier in space)
Army dalek ( from genesis of the daleks)

  • Posted by booboo on July 29th, 2010

They are due August the 1st so order it now and you will get it very soon anyway.

  • Posted by saul on July 27th, 2010

  • Posted by BooBoo on July 27th, 2010

Yep, doesn’t come with cricket ball

  • Posted by OMEGA on July 27th, 2010

thats is the prototype, he had a cricket ball with 11 dr set but never came with it, if u look at the packaging for this figure he has no cricket ball

  • Posted by pupbenny on July 27th, 2010

Wait is everyone blind? :?: Why doesn’t it say “And cricket ball.” in the fith doctor’ss accesories bit? :???: You can clearly see he’s holding a cricket ball! :!:

  • Posted by saul on July 27th, 2010

im going to get it :!:

  • Posted by TheFifthDoctor on July 26th, 2010

Very nice! They look so realistic. One observation: most fans think of the Fifth Doctor without his sonic screwdriver, since it was destroyed in the “The Visitation”, his fourth televised story. So he spent much of his regeneration not having it. Regardless, that is just a minor detail, and the figures look excellent.

  • Posted by The Whofan101 on July 26th, 2010

hang on…1ST OF AUGUST?! I’m going shopping then! Buy it then…if I’m allowed

  • Posted by booboo on July 26th, 2010

Seems Due Aug 1st so very soon, they usually have it in the shops but after the Orange Dalek Doctor i wouldn’t leave anything to chance

  • Posted by The Whofan101 on July 26th, 2010

The one moment, ONE MOMENT, I have money for the 11 Doctors set, this is available! any FPs in Blackpool?

  • Posted by blob blob on July 23rd, 2010

I would of prefered it the master to be in the ‘Traken’ outfit which he wore for Logopolis, Castrovalva, Time Flight, The Kings Demons, The Five Doctors, The Mark of the Rani, Trial of a Time Lord and Survival, he only didn’t wear it in, oh PLANET OF FIRE, i would of prefered the more regular costume.

  • Posted by M_L_D_WHO on July 19th, 2010

I think there should be a special rerelease of Dapol classic figures with good paint jobs and a better Tardis model but any WHO saying this again the set iss brilliant i really hope for everyone that the figure does have a cricket ball, I don’t want to say this bit but it probably will not :(

  • Posted by Robert11 on July 19th, 2010

    thanx booboo!!!!!!!!!!

  • Posted by booboo on July 19th, 2010

just wonderin where and how 2 get them

At the moment it looks like they we only be on sale at comic con San Diego between 21-25th July (this week).

Its only after this event that we will find out which stores in the USA and UK (if any) will have them. These are usually WHO NA and Forbidden Planet. price will be £24.99 – £29.99 but post from USA if thats the only way to get them makes this expensive. the minuet we find out where you will be able to buy them it will go up on the site ( we want them to).

    You…

  • Posted by Robert11 on July 19th, 2010

booboo, i live in newcastle and my mam is an air hostess, so she does a lot of travelling to america, africa ect. just wonderin where and how 2 get them, the master and the doc i mean. can i order them on the computer? if i can, how much will they be?

  • Posted by booboo on July 19th, 2010

I’m sure these will be available via FP but i know want you mean

  • Posted by Connor on July 19th, 2010

Why are all of the long awaited rdr who figures USA exclusive?!
Dr who originated in the UK so we should have our fair share of exclusive figures too!!!

  • Posted by Anonymous on July 19th, 2010

Why are all the long awaited dr who figures always USA exclusive?!
Dr who originated in the UK so we should at least get an exclusive figure once in a while!!!

  • Posted by DalekStorm22 on July 19th, 2010

Finally, they’ve made the Master, I’ve waited long for this

  • Posted by Renegade on July 18th, 2010

I definately want this set mainly for the Master ive been after the classic Masters for ages but there making to many vaiations of the Doctor to make lots of money you’ll end up with a load of the same one displayed and Im sick of people buying about 50 when they are released so they cn sell them double price on the internet..

  • Posted by Robert11 on July 18th, 2010

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Posted by Justininferno on July 17th, 2010

    Hi Who mad!
Buy whtever figures you like too – classic or new, its all one huge very long series so it doesn’t really matter. Just enjoy.

  • Posted by who mad! on July 16th, 2010

I think that the actor who played the master at the time was very good because i’ve watched lots of the old episodes and i stare at the telly when i see the master. It was a good idea to release classic doctor who figures. What should i buy? Old or new figures?
    shock

  • Posted by Your New Lodger on July 14th, 2010

the thing in his hand looks like cricket ball but so did 11 doctors set figure but there was none and in the packaging image of this there isnt one either

  • Posted by john on July 14th, 2010

i am buying this one! for the collection!

  • Posted by Dalek Drone on July 14th, 2010

the master looks like the one from the five doctors but he has not got the chap it would be cool if they made that figure

  • Posted by Justininferno on July 14th, 2010

Its odd that this is called ‘Planet of Fire’ set. The Master is in the correct outfit, but the 5th Doctor isn’t. Not only is he in the wrong jumper and trousers, but he should be in rolled up sleeves and braces! And its another USA exclusive just to annoy UK fans even more. Still, seeing as B&M stores are now selling the previous exclusive ‘damaged Cyberman’ for £3.99, I hope this follow in a couple of years as it isn’t worth the escalated FP prices.

  • Posted by The Whofan101 on July 13th, 2010

A classic Master! No longer do I need to use The Editor figure to replace him as!

  • Posted by dan23 on July 13th, 2010

Is it just me or does the Master’s face look waxy like the first lot of Simm Masters ???

  • Posted by The Whofan101 on July 13th, 2010

Likely its 25 quid, the previous twin packs were 25 quid

  • Posted by booboo on July 13th, 2010

If FP sell it £24.99-£29.99 i should think

  • Posted by M_L_D_WHO on July 13th, 2010

This looks like one of the best figure packs released ever, I would totally buy this just I don’t buy stuff off the internet to complicated to explain, if Peter does hav a cricket ball in his hand this would make it even better but if not they shouldn’t do this just toand it doesn’t make us happy when they show something and then put out something different I hate when people do that, but any WHO this is a great set what a match the Doctor and the Master, Delgado and Peter, if i seen this anywhere besides the internet I would get it no…

  • Posted by GallifreyRules on July 13th, 2010

    how much would this be???

  • Posted by Davros on July 13th, 2010

Look at the Doctor. The face is wierd

  • Posted by king gerbil on July 13th, 2010

    thats pretty cool

  • Posted by alex on July 13th, 2010

  • Posted by doctorwhoforever on July 13th, 2010

saw this on the doctor who action figure news page

  • Posted by booboo on July 13th, 2010

I really hope so, we want to get hold of them as well.

  • Posted by Lewis on July 13th, 2010

Will this be available at forbidden planet like the previous SDCC collectables as the pricing on ebay is out of this world

  • Posted by booboo on July 13th, 2010

I wouldn’t worry, these promo image rarely do the figures full justice. I’m sure the actual figure will be fine

  • Posted by Adam on July 13th, 2010

I love The Master figure but I realld don’t like Davisons. the head sculpt makes him look female!

  • Posted by Simon on July 13th, 2010

There were rumours of a Delgado Master and third doctor but this will do nicely for starters

  • Posted by Terrance on July 13th, 2010
