set-13

ut

Its that time of year again with SDCC 2016 about to start

Wednesday saw previews night between 6-9 pm, that’s 2-5am in the morning for people in the UK.

From what we can see nothing new was on show.

It starts on Thursday at 9.30am which is 5.30pm in the UK so no late night waiting for any information.

If anything is on show it should soon become clear.

The only Doctor Who items we know of so far are the 2 Titans, Ghost 12th Doctor and Glitter Tardis, Titan Comics, an electronic 20 questions Tardis, 5.5 “x 7” giant mug and Rory’s Story Cubes.

This year we have noticed the “exclusive” title has been dropped in many cases and replaced with “first to market” which means it is only sold there first.

I suspect all eyes (where Doctor Who is concerned) will be on the Underground Toys Stand where, assuming its on show, something “big” is coming (and no its not the mug)…

I want this set as I wanted a 3rd red Jacket for ages. I like all of the figures except 10&11. 10 should have the sculpt he had in the 11 Doctors set & 11 the later one. Off topic but Boobo what’s happened to the 3.75″ range.. Just curious. Thanks

If they wanted a simple, new 11th Doctor variant they should’ve repainted the S6/Asylum Doctor with A Good Man Goes to War/Angels Take Manhattan colors. That’s personally my favorite 11th Doctor costume. 🙂

Me too although fortunately I made an easy custom one from a s6 blue shirt one and swapped the bow tie with one from the fez figure, then I gave him glasses from a spare bracewell figure too.

Hey Booboo, considering the announcement of this and the recent B&M sets, any chance the Lists section of the site can get updated to reflect the new figures? That’s be awesome, it’s a really helpful feature!

There was. I bought it. I bought some SDCC Doctor Who comics on ebay from a guy going to SDCC. I found out about the 13 Doctors set and asked him if he could pick it up for me and he did.

What’s the difference in the 10th?

    • booboo

      July 25th, 2016 - 11:08am

    • TheDarkAndTheLight

      July 25th, 2016 - 11:35am

Think the differences with Ten are a white shirt for the first time instead of light blue, a solid brown tie instead of one patterned with blue, more screen accurate colours (specifically the overcoat, and in the pinstripes on the suit), and dirtier trainers.

    • Tardis23

      July 25th, 2016 - 2:21pm

You’d think if they’re correcting all the colours they would have made the suit brown finally but it seems not

    July 25th, 2016 - 10:19am

so this isn’t solely a character item then as it has the UT logo on it as well as Character logo , might effect the price in that case

Its only solely Character branded items that have been cheaper in the Uk in the past

    • Omega63

      July 25th, 2016 - 11:10am

What if they cover the UT logo with black tape if it does end up in Toys R Us? Will that reduce the price?

    • booboo

      July 25th, 2016 - 11:19am

I’m just looking at what’s happened in the past

All Character only Branded items (where the character logo is on the front) (B&M sets, All toys r us exclusives (NOT the joint FP exclusives) like K9, Doctor Dalek sets, 3.75″ sets, BBC hide set) have been much cheaper in the UK than the USA

All dual branded sets with both logos (which this set has) have been a similar price, but in many cases, because we pay VAT more expensive in the UK that USA.

There are Clearly some changes going on however so until someone give us a Solid UK price we have no idea now

I hope the paint apps are good on all the sets. The 3rd Doctor’s frog clasps need to be painted on very carefully. Some sets (eg 4th Doctor eyes in Keeper of Traken set) had substandard apps.

I’m really looking forward to this set.

I will get this set as well. I love the redone 6th doctor in blue from Reel Time. This version is much improved. The 3rd in red is the selling point for me!! Loved that look on Jon Pertwee. The second Doctor( The 2 Doctors) I assume, from the hair, has always been a favorite. I will retire my customs of these figures with ACTUAL versions. I only wish they would make my favorite classic companion…Jamie. Come on! I’m getting old, make the classic companions box set. I smell a golden opportunity here. Ian, Barbara,Susan. Jamie, zoe. Sgt Benton, Capt Yates. Young Sarah Jane and Harry. The 5th Doctor’s crew: Tegan, Nyssa, Adric, Turlough and YES, Chameleon. At least one Romanna. We need Mel too. Then let the BBC hash out a deal to allow Grace and Lee, and then the TV Movie Master too. Ok, done dreaming. Thanks.

So that would be about £190… Blimey. That’s quite a jump from the old boxset. I’d think the dearest they could probably get away with would be a £100, but even then that’d be pushing it. I think if this set went for about £70, that would be pretty reasonable, and honestly it’d be a steal.

It was $150 at comic con definitely not over $200. Plus booboo estimates it will be £60-£70 in the uk because of the b&m price difference from last years comic con

Shame about the 7th and 12th doctor figures! real opportunities missed, the 7th could’ve been based off the TV movie and the 12th could’ve had his early series 9 outfit or even the velvet jacket outfit! The 5th doctor could have possibly been based off “Time Crash” but they probably wanted to get the figures looking like they do/did when they were originally on screen!

I wont be getting this as i have the old 11 doctors set. Already got war, 8th, 4th, 7th in these variants. I do however love the 3rd doctors outfit… just can’t justify more doctors and would rather use the money on future classics if we get some.

Still not gonna waste my money. When you already own at least 2 variants of each doctor there’s no need for more. With there being no new who this year i guess this is all we will get though.

  • WouldYouLikeAJellyBaby?

I’m really looking forward to picking this set up. Mainly for all the new variants including the new First, Second, Third, Sixth, Eighth and Ninth Doctor variants. I’m glad the season 18 Fourth Doctor is getting a rerelease as I was never able to get my hands on that figure previously. One thing that annoys me about this set is how on the packaging some of the episodes the figures are based on do not match the picture of each Doctor. For example two big problems are that the Third Doctor variant is apparently from Day of The Daleks according to the picture, yet it says that he’s from The Time Monster which is incorrect as the figure features his bow tie which never wore in either stories, in reality the costume is from The Three Doctors. The second problem is that the Twelfth Doctor variant is according to the description from Deep Breath but the picture of him is taken from Into The Dalek, neither of which match the figure. I can only assume that the pictures and episode names the figures are from according to the packaging reflects that previously we were supposed to see Third Doctor and Twelfth Doctor variants in this set based on The Time Monster and Deep Breath in this set instead of the variants we got, or Character have just got their facts wrong.

      July 24th, 2016 - 3:23pm

You would’ve thought with a company like Character that they would know what figure is from what episode but then again there could be an explanation behind it. It’s just odd how they managed to get a tiny piece of information wrong and I noticed when this set was announced that the Ninth Doctor variant is also from the wrong episode as well. The description on the packaging lists him as being from The Parting of the Ways yet he never wore a blue/dark purple jumper he wore a black jumper which was included on the figure that came with the Toys R Us exclusive Emperor’s Guard Dalek in 2013. He did however wear a blue/dark purple jumper in The Unquiet Dead, Aliens of London and World War Three, I should know as I asked Al Dewar when he was on Twitter last year if there was a chance that we could see a variant in that jumper and he told me that Christopher Eccleston never wore a jumper in that colour.

    • WouldYouLikeAJellyBaby?

      July 24th, 2016 - 4:04pm

It isn’t black in this set, it’s dark blue and yes I know it’s from Time Heist but it doesn’t say that on the packaging. On the packaging it says he’s from Deep Beeath yet the image is from Into the Dalek, neither match the figure.

    • WouldYouLikeAJellyBaby?

Aside from the 3rd doctor in red ,theres very little appeal for me. Had they done the5th/6th doctors from the end of androzani mud splattered or from casual wear in the planet of fire and the two doctors respectibly. Or even the 2nd doctor inpipe stove or shaggy coat from the abominable snowman, but no thanks.

This set really highlights how they dropped the ball on the 12th doctor figure. The height difference is ridiculous. How it got through multiple checks unnoticed is beyond me. (Or did they notice but not care?) I hope any subsequent 12th figures are back in scale. I hope red coated 12th – which must surely happen – is in scale and with a more realistic likeness. But will I be buying this set? You bet I will!

I think this would already be in the Argos catalogue just out if they were interested

i think the idea is to give people a chance of a set who didn’t get the first one and and to get some of the variants out their that people were asking for

problem is we dont know if there is anything new this year figure wise but they would still want to get some value from their no doubt very expensive master toy licence regardless of their future plans

I really doubt it to be honest, unless the quantity is very limited i cant see retailer turning down multiple sales.

It will be around plenty long enough for those who really want one to get one I’m sure

Booboo, is this going to be another one of those limited edition pieces that sell out within 10 seconds of being put up, leaving some to go without?

Also, having said that do you think that this set may be limited to one per customer, personaly, I really, REALLY hope it is, but id like to hear your opinion.
