Robert Harrop Tetrap Urak From Time and the Rani

Available to order while stocks last from www.robertharrop.com

Robert Harrop Designs have been creating collectable hand painted figurines for over 30 years and have gained a well earned reputation of high quality and accuracy of detail.

Their extensive portfolio includes Thunderbirds, Camberwick Green, Beano Dandy and 2000AD to name but a few. A portfolio that is extremely nostalgic and very British, so it was no surprise that Doctor Who would be the next project that we wanted to embrace into our studios!

Whilst in flight, the TARDIS is attacked by the Rani, an amoral scientist and renegade Time Lord, and crash-lands on the planet Lakertya. The Doctor and his companion Mel Bush are knocked unconscious and the Doctor regenerates for the sixth time.

The Time and the Rani marked the first adventure for the Seventh Doctor, portrayed by Sylvester McCoy, who would go on to appear in 3 series and 42 episodes as the Time Lord.

I got mine today too, 11/200. Surprised it arrived so fast but I guess it’s to do with the new way they’re doing things at Harrops now. They have said that they want to remove the waiting period we’ve seen previously with releases so I expect we’ll probably see this happen more often now. I much prefer it to be honest; I hated having to wait so long between ordering the item and actually receiving it.

It is nice to get things quickly, they are still pretty quick compared to other companies though, some can’t take over 18 months to get things to you…, that’s a painful wait. 🙂

yes i think if you get your orders in straight away you wont wait long, we ordered alpha late and that took 4 weeks but that’s not a long wait really

Really like how Alpha Centari turned out, think it’s my favourite so far plus it was great timing as she turned up on the current series too, that was great. 🙂

Considering these, and the other ones, have a fairly low limited edition run of 200-500, i’m surprised they don’t sell out straight away. Think about all the fans, there must be at least 200-500 waiting for these to be released! Any thoughts?

      yes

initially they released many in one go making them unaffordable to many

on top of that they never found their way to the more traditional Doctor Who outlets like FP but to their stockists of other figurines where the Doctor Who buyer may not look. Classic figure do not have a big USA market either

On top of the The BBC shop shut down which was a good outlet for them

I also dont think the Doctors work well for many in this style

what they have done now is staged smaller quantities but mostly sold in house to maximise profits. Its the best approach although some quantities are a little on the low side now.

they almost seem to be making to order these days, the last one we ordered took about 4 weeks from pre order to despatch but then we didn’t order it straight away

Don’t forget as the years go by the runs on these figures tends to be lower. They started out doing up to 750 pieces for each figure but now some of the runs are only 200 (Some have been only 150 or even a tiny 100!) Its no surprise they sell out pretty quickly at those low numbers.

Its finding the right level, if anything its gone to low now.

They said they’ll be doing higher numbers with more popular characters, I’m guessing Dalek’s will get a higher production run.

Preordered mine, I think they do a great job with the aliens & it’s always nice to see something a bit different from the mainstream obvious characters.

Have you had a confirmation email? It’s showing on my account but no email yet. I ordered very soon after it went up.

Only a Paypal email as that’s what I use to pay with, it’s showing on my Harrop account too though. Assuming the new website has a few issues still to be worked out?

Yeah I’m guessing it must be the new site too. I haven’t even had a sage email though as it didn’t go through that, seems that they’ve integrated the payment system into the site.

Trouble with this and the Alpha Centauri statues is that Eaglemoss released them around the same time too. For RH, this is probably gonna affect their sales, i doubt these will sell as well considering Eaglemoss’ recent releases.

Different market, The Harrop Alpha Centauri sold out very quickly

Alpha Centauri is sold out so I think it’ll do fine, I prefer this line as the quality is far superior & it’s bigger too so that’s always a bonus.

This looks awesome! The Tetraps are probably one of the better bits of “Time and Rani” and it’s a wonder they haven’t appeared in other stories. Shame CO didn’t do a figure of them also.
