Rewind – The Three Doctors DVD Corgi Set

Rewind – The Three Doctors DVD 40th Anniversary Gift Set

The Three Doctors DVD Special Edition Gift Set Featuring a Model Bessie Car by Corgi and a printed card of the DVD cover. Released in 2003 for the 40th Anniversary.

UNIT HQ comes under attack by an alien force, and The Doctor has no other option but to call on his own people, the Time Lords, for help. Breaking the first Law of Time, the first two Doctors are lifted out of their time-streams and sent to help the third. But in a universe of anti-matter, an all-powerful figure from Time Lord history is waiting, and even three Doctors may not be enough to stop him…

The decision to make a story that reunited the first three Doctors to celebrate Doctor Who’s tenth anniversary was almost inevitable, and the resultant four episodes are a delightful nostalgia-filled romp.

William Hartnell’s performance recreates, for one last time, the First’ Doctor as a powerful, commanding figure of authority. Patrick Troughton settles back with ease into his impish Second Doctor, whilst Jon Pertwee masterfully shoulders the burden of his previous incarnations, and demonstrates an ability to lead from the front.

The story is simply about the three Doctors, and all the other elements of the show are relegated to supporting status for once. The rest of the cast apparently know this, and seem to simply revel in the experience. How fitting that this story should see the Doctor forgiven by the Time Lords and allowed once more to travel in time and space…

I am an avid Doctor Who Fan, but while i don’t buy or collect any books, audios or other merchandise (Apart from DWM); I do have an ultimate Doctor Who DVD collection being built up and collecting Doctor Who DVDs is something I am very serious, enthusiastic, and committed to. Not for the visual content (actual episodes etc) but more importantly the actual physical collection. To date my main collection is at 264 items. Today I have just bought this Gift Set to add to my collection. It’s been on my wish list for the past year or so, but until this past week I could never source it for less than £74 inc P&p (UK Region 2 copy). Today I got it for much less. Of my + 165 Classic Series DVDs there are very few Gift Sets or Special Collectors items. This is one of a small handful. While its contents are quite simple; I am really pleased to have bought this, bar the fourth doctor time capsule its the only gift set with additional items. As noted above it is also becoming much rarer (region 2) with prices sneaking up to a point where it feels too expensive. So i’m so pleased to have picked mine up today. Anyone out there looking to buy one and unsure – get one when you can while under £50. A future REAL RARE COLLECTORS item.

GREAT! NICE TO SEE THE RETURN OF THE THREE DOCTORS TO DVD. HOW ABOUT THE AMBASSADORS OF DEATH, WITH A MODEL OF AN AMBASSADOR. TALKING OF WHICH THE BRITISH BOARD OF FILM CLASSIFICATION HAVE JUST RECENTLY PASSED THE SPECIAL FEATURES, WHICH MEANS AMBASSADORS IS DUE FOR RELEASE ON DVD IN THE AUTUMN. ALL THE RESTORATION ISSUES HAVE BEEN OVERCOME.
    CAN`T WAIT. ANY COMMENTS??

Told you it wasnt coming out in june. I said back in february it would possibly be due about mid to late september time and it looks like im not far wrong. Im think 24 september or 1st october as a release date. Wont be later than 8th october as the october release as r1 wont have anything to release otherwise on that date. As the restoration of ambassadors would be very expensive i doubt they would have the budget to bring out a figure with it

I doubt that will happen. Both were only rereleased about 4 months ago (revisitation 3 box set). Majority of people that would have went for it already own the dvd of both of those storys (and some fans have baught them twiceie both new and old versions)and i cant see a lot of fans willing to triple dip even if it was for something limited. I think a tenth planet dvd with a cyberman figure is a bit more likely than those 2 getting rereleased again

If mind of evil is completed and released next year (with the ammount of work still required on mind of evil im not 100 percent sure it will be ready) i wouldnt mind a gold bessie with mind of evil. Its the golden aniversary of doctor who after all. Slightly off topic i remember when i was young it was thomas the tank engines 50th and they had a limited gold thomas come out. I was gutted i didnt get 1

They should bring out more of these for the 50th Aniversary

We had a version of this released in Australia too. I remember oogling over it in the shops, but never being able to buy it, since it was crazy-expensive at the time.

I’m kind of regretting not getting it now though, because I’d love a little Bessie!

Maybe one day Character or another company will release their own replica… Big Chief, are you listening? :p

I bought this one, and the Fawlty Towers one in a simiar vein. I think it is nice to have something extra to make it special. For VHS, they tarted up The Crusades and The Space Museum set as well as The Reign of Terror and The Faceless Ones. As long as you can store the videos/DVDs separately, I think the box and additional contents is pleasing to most fans. All in all, I think the 40th Anniversary merchandise was well done.

i got a set with modles like that a few years ago. it had k9, davros, gold dalek, 4th doc in bessie, 4th doc looking out of tardis, cyber leader and 4th doc by himself. overall i loved it. I still have it all today. I also had a set with a UNIT jeep and UNIT helecopter (I love UNIT). This was a really good idea and they should do more!
