Pyramids of Mars Priory Set

In this Fourth Doctor adventure, the TARDIS materialises on Earth in the year 1911 inside an old priory owned by Egyptologist Marcus Scarman. Scarman has been possessed by Sutekh, last survivor of the god-like Osirans, who is being held prisoner inside a pyramid in Egypt by a signal transmitted from a pyramid on Mars.

Sutekh wants to be free and instructs Scarman to use robots, which look like Egyptian mummies, to build a pyramid-shaped rocket with which to destroy the Martian pyramid. The Doctor blows up the missile but falls under Sutekh’s control and is made to transport Scarman to Mars to cut off the signal controlling the prison. The Doctor, freed of Sutekh’s influence, rushes back to Earth and uses the time control from the TARDIS to move the end of the space-time tunnel that Sutekh is travelling down into the far future where, unable to reach the end, Sutekh ages to death.

I can do nothing but sing this set’s praises. Wonderful detail and accessories, great articulation and the card rocket is just the icing on the cake. Sutekh is the highlight of the set, with his light up eyes stealing the show. However, a slightly lazy cock up with the Marcus Scarman earns this set – 4.5/5

This one. The Pyramid is cool. Shame there is no Priory room set though – Suteks eyes light up and you can swap Scarman’s head if you have the earlier Pyramids of Mars set

Thanks, I might get the other Pyramids of Mars set as well, just to get some Mummies and the Jackal head. I hope we do get a priory room eventually.

Have just got this, it’s a fantastic set, particularly the lenticular time tunnel and sarcophagus, plus Sutekh’s light up eyes are spot on! … but – has anyone else found the internal bottles missing from the canopic jars?
wonder if they just didn’t do them this time around or if i need to get onto FP! 😀

I think the lids are glued shut so there would be no point in putting them with the set as you would be able to put them inside.

Basically , they done this to save money

No the lids do come off fairly easily revealing a hollow centre.

FPI shipping takes this up to £35, still worth it to me, I think if the diorama is sturdy and fold-awayable it will look great, and I like the completion of the canopic jars, I just wish they would do anotehr set rerelease, mainly of the Dalek set 1 and the 4th doctor adventure set lol.

No, that’s just part of the box illustration. You get the figures, the sarcophagus, the jars, the board and the missile.

      August 9th, 2013 - 7:05pm

Don’t think so but i could be wrong as nothing is mentioned about it

    • DoctorArkham

      August 9th, 2013 - 7:18pm

Possibly, but it will be made of the weak card that is featured to house the figures. On the other hand, this box is merely a prototype so we may just get an image of the library. But as booboo set, the Buffy library seems to be a suitable display environment.

No, it does not have it as I’ve already said, this has already been confirmed that this is just an illustration and you won’t get the background on the picture (unfortunately the source has since been wiped but it did come from a CO employee).
