Nick’s Collection

Well, here are the first few pictures of my collection.

I’ve not got much in the way of customs, though I do have an Earthshock Cyber Leader and have given the Revelations 6th Doctor a green chained pocket watch. The three large daleks on the top of the shelf next to K9 are resin kits of the Special Weapons Dalek and Davros, and an altered a Comet miniatures kit Dalek to represent an Imperial Dalek which have all been built by me. I have also created custom bases for all the figures to stand on and had a special poster printed for the back drop to the Cybermen/Dalek figures shelves.

In a vain attempt to not get too carried away with collecting I’ve tried to stick to only buying Daleks, Cybermen and Doctors. I have all the released versions on the classic Daleks and Davros, all the classic cybermen, (I think) I have all the new cybermen variants, and the main new Dalek variants. For the Doctors, I have all the variants of the classic Doctors (rarer ones, I have kept in the packaging*) and most of the new Doctor variants (I have all the 9th Doctor, including the SDCC limited edition), but there are way too many 10th (and will probably be many more 11th) for me to currently fit on the shelf!

*The rarer figures include the B&W first and second Dr packs, Third Dr and Sea Devil, Fourth Dr and K9, Fifth and tenth Dr Time Crash set, Sixth Dr regeneration pack, Seventh Dr and Imperial Dalek an Eleventh Doctor with blue bow-tie.

Other than that, I have a few K9s, all the Master’s old and new and a shelf of miscellaneous figures and things including the collect and build Giant Robot and a Dinky Tardis.

How come you’ve got American DVD releases too?

They’re not American releases, they are reconstructed versions of the missing stories, such as Dalek Master Plan, Moonbase, Reign of Terror, etc. in custom printed sleeves 🙂

The Davros and Special Weapons Dalek on the top shelf are from Comet Miniatures (I think).

They were resin model kits that I bought sometime back in the 90s! They are much bigger than the CO figures and are about 10 inches tall. 🙂

I did indeed – The 11 Doctor’s stands are custom printed mouse mats. The individual figure stands are Warhammer 20mm diameter stands with custom-printed stickers stuck to them. 🙂

my cyberleader from the dalek battle pack has lost its pointing finger and i lost the emp grenade and my cyber controller has somehow lost its finger too, also the end of my cyberman with arm weapons, arm weapon has come off. plus my assault dalek broke and i lost the claw and gun so i took the end of a broken rc k9 remote control and some wire and stuck it where the gun was. phew thats a long comment.

The Blue Bow tie release was exclusive to Tesco – All the other retailers had the ‘Crash’ set with brown bow tie AFAIK 🙂

    • booboo

      August 19th, 2011 - 11:40am

Sorry i should have kept an eye on the comments, The Blue bow tie crash set was exclusive to Toys r Us

I dont know if they passed them on to any other retailers since but never seen them anywhere else

    • Mr_Moley

      August 19th, 2011 - 12:06pm

Thanks – Cleared that one up. I knew it was an exclusive, just wasn’t sure which retailer had it (I sourced mine through eBay).

As a matter of interest, were there any exclusive 10th Dr single figure sets? I have them for the classic Doctors and for Doctor’s 9 and 10, but I’ve not heard of anything for the 10th (aside from the Time Crash one).

    • booboo

      August 19th, 2011 - 12:10pm

In comparison to the general ‘brown bowtie’ release, it is rarer. You only have to check the prices on eBay to see 🙂

      August 23rd, 2011 - 4:16pm

      To Dalek Eternal:

Sorry, I missed your reply there – Do you know if the normal ‘red’ bowtie version is the same figure as is in the 11 Doctors box set?

    • Mr_Moley

      August 24th, 2011 - 8:52am

      @Doctor Pond:

You were lucky to get the Blue one then, the prices on eBay are going up and up for that figure now. Cheapest one I’ve seen was loose and that was £20 with postage!

      (Also in reply to Davros)

The stands were custom made by me – They are stadard Warhammer miniature stands, but I made the designs and had them laser printed onto round stickers.

Just looking at those Doctor photos… I really need to dust the shelves!
