New Retailer – The Time Meddlers (Inactive)

On 5 November 2019, a new business selling nothing but official, BBC-licensed Doctor Who merchandise will launch.

Based in the UK, but offering worldwide shipping, The Time Meddlers will not only sell merchandise via their online store, but also at their stand in the heart of London’s Covent Garden Jubilee Market which will open the very same day!

As well as that, The Time Meddlers will be attending conventions across the UK, with plans to expand to Europe & beyond in the very near future.

25% Off Pre-Launch sale

From today, fans can register for access to the pre-launch online sale, which will gain them access to the site a few days before its official opening, with a whopping 25% off of ALL products!

Saving The Universe One Planet at a Time…

The fact that every single product available from The Time Meddlers is BBC-licensed means that the factories in which goods are produced are audited by the BBC (i.e. conditions are safe, workers are paid fairly etc.). This is one of the key principals of The Time Meddlers – that everything is done ethically, sustainably, and as environmentally-friendly as possible. Products are never individually plastic wrapped, T-Shirts will be packaged in 100% recyclable cardboard packaging which The Time Meddlers have designed and developed with the manufacturer exclusively. Goods being sent out via mail order are also packed using recyclable materials.

The Time Meddlers Themselves

The business is owned and run by Shane and Dylan, both experienced in the world of retail and fan events/conventions.

Speaking on the businesses’ launch, Dylan said; “Enjoying what I do is one of the most important things for me, and ‘The Time Meddlers’ fills me with so much enthusiasm.
Our goal is not only to give Doctor Who fans exactly what they’ve needed for years (a
friendly service and affordable merchandise), but also grow & rejuvenate the community for everyone to enjoy and be a part of what we are doing.

My main focus is making our stands look incredible, fun and modern. The days of displays
looking like something at your local boot sale or a charity shop are gone!”

Shane added, “This isn’t just a business to us. We’ve been involved in designing and
developing new products (which are currently in production), getting really hands-on, because we are fans ourselves. Our goal is to become a part of the fan community and even get the fans involved in what we do. They are our customers, and they know exactly what they want. We have big plans for The Time Meddlers, including a YouTube series which is actually in production as we speak, where genuine fans unbox, review and discuss our products. We’re also working on additional content, but we will announce more in due course! Our priority right now is getting the online shop up and running on time.”

The site is launching with a modest collection of around 50 pieces, and will expand and evolve as new stock arrives and the business grows. You have until midnight, October 31 (GMT) to register for access to the 25% off pre-launch sale.

Once launched, customers will be able to pay using all major credit and debit cards, as well as Paypal.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Doctor Who merchandise site that is less impressive than The Time Meddlers. It feels very clunky to navigate and it just has so little actual merchandise. Can’t imagine any circumstances under which I would ever bother checking it out again. Given the over the top hype I was expecting something spectacular – instead of so incredibly underwhelming. And I’ve had four different emails from them in 24 hours. I’m going to unsubscribe from them as that’s just spam by any measure.

The fact the owners are on the fence about figures being sold annoys me, other than the dvds and blu rays, it feels as though the figures are one of the main money makers in my opinion. Just look at B&M, personally I don’t see the need to buy what I would call nic naks. How much money can you make from a mug or book pad. I think that, with in reason, the majority of who fans are collectors of some form whether it’s dvds or figures or eagle moss. I can’t see this being a go to place for who merch, you need to be selling something substantial and worth selling, then you start to sell posters and mugs and add on type items which can sell with the bigger items, I struggle to explain things quite a lot but I hope this makes sense. I’m trying to say you need to hit the wider market and go with what the other markets are lacking, amazon, zavvi and zoom do better deals than these, and the benefit of shopping with them is that when there’s a deal or discount you can buy a non who thing that your a fan of. Specifically aiming at one audience and selling poor quality for the price items is a huge no no. As a start point, they couldn’t have chose a worse place. I feel as though I’ll stick with zoom, zavvi and amazon for who merch

Got my discount code, checked the website, not impressed, left the website and deleted my code…you can get this stuff anywhere and they didn’t have much anyway.

My thoughts exactly! They sold eagle moss figures for more than eaglemoss. I don’t see any truth in what they said about cheaper than other places

Quite disappointing, after all the hype not much to see really and most stuff you can get cheaper elsewhere. Won’t bother with it again.

Yeah, considering their branding and motto was to provide items cheaper than other places, it’s pretty poor.

We would like to eventually, but the toy market isn’t what it once was, and the minimum we would need to produce for exclusivity is HUGE. That said, it is on the cards!

Fingers crossed they will ship to Australia as we desperately need a retailer who will not only ship UK blu-rays and DVDs to us, but one that won’t charge ridiculous prices and one that will package items properly so they don’t arrive damaged half the time.

many people have been able to get some from fun.co.uk but not all, i so miss the BBC shop for those (and many pother things)

boils down to how many you would have to order and cost to import i suppose and remain competitive

We would love to, but that would require placing a HUGE order for one unit, which isn’t where we are at right now, but hopefully someday soon.

Fair pricing, realistic shipping, ethical business practises and happy customers who don’t feel as though they need to take out a mortgage to own a piece of merch, ideally!

We have a small quantity of US imports, and are currently talking to suppliers about making this a regular thing ongoing.

not Big Finish, to be honest most people who would ant big finish would go to big finish because of the downloads

We will be selling pre-existing items, but our focus for now is on very “current” pieces, and we are also working on some world exclusives as well. We have worked hard to be able to offer very competitive prices, and we’re fairly sure we are at least matching, and in most cases BEATING the prices of competitors. Our focus is on affordable pricing, not corporate greed.
