The 3rd Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver
You can Pre-order this item from www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk
The Sonic Screwdriver is a versatile tool and defensive device first used by The Doctor in his second incarnation for opening up hatches, panels and controls. later uses included cutting through wall sections and even as a conventional screwdriver.
During the Third Doctor’s exile on Earth he had a larger and more elaborately detailed version, which has a decorated silver handle and black and yellow stripes. This version has even more functions including detecting security traps, remote detonation of mines, opening doors and restraints, creating ignitions sparks and again removing screws and fixings.
In this exclusive release, we present an electronic version of the Third Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver with two sounds and spring loaded sound activation.

Underground Toys have revealed a brand new Doctor Who prototype at the San Diego Comic Con – The 3rd Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver …
The Description…
The Third Doctor spent much of this incarnation exiled on earth .
Sophisticated and elegant this Doctor was more of a pure scientist than his predecessors, surrounded by gadgets and vehicles.
But whether aiding UNIT against invasion or travelling to distant planets his kindness and belief in peace was rarely stronger.
The Sonic Screwdriver is a versatile tool and defensive device first used by the Doctor in his second incarnation for opening up hatches, panels and controls.
Later uses included cutting through all sections and even as a conventional screwdriver.
During the third Doctor’s exile on earth he had a larger and more elaborately detailed version, which had a decorated silver handle and black and yellow stripes. This version had even more functions including detecting security traps, remote detonation of mines, opening doors and restraints, creating ignition sparks and again removing screws and fixings.
Later still the fourth Doctor remade yet another similar style of sonic screwdriver but with many more features and functions including micro soldering or circuitry, cutting wires and bulkheads and even detonating Dalek explosives.

Brought it for £10 pounds at the MCM expo. Its great! I wish they are metal and the sound effects are the same sounds as the tennant screwdriver. It does`nt sound the same is in the show which is sort of annoying but its retroness makes up for it!
Posted by: Dalek Sec May 13th, 2011
I love it! But 1 thing annoys me, about all these screwdrivers! Their not metal! I don’t really mind, but its what gives the feel of it being a prop! I know its a toy, but its a replica!
Posted by: McGann is The Doctor. March 26th, 2011
Wooh that would be so cool if they did make another one! I may even paint over it to make it unique for ME as the Doctor (ever played dress-up to a convention of sorts?).
Posted by: LiasonIce January 12th, 2011
Wow this looks cool i’ll add it to the list
Posted by: tc December 11th, 2010
i heard that too. if you go to the doctorwhotoys.net forum there are pictures. Looks good though.
Posted by: doctorwhomad December 8th, 2010
They’re going to be making a 4th doctor sonic screwdriver.
Posted by: Jack December 1st, 2010
I have had this sonic screwdriver for a few months now and i must say, it’s a great toy, replica. really recommended. It is plastic but it still is brilliant, just hoping that more classic sonic screwdrivers are on the way.

Posted by: weirdo October 17th, 2010
is there a diffrence between the 3rd doctors sonic and the 8th doctors sonic
Posted by: McGann is the Doctor. October 16th, 2010
Intersting how things like this get announced, about may-time last year, and there only just out now!
Which reminds me of a certain enfuriating matter; when the FRIG is the Screwdriver by WowStuff being (at Long-Last) actually released into the world of business, so it can actually BE given to me! I was intending to have it for the Live Show, on NOV 7th, way more awesome thatn any kids Sonic, which they buy in stacks and stacks and stacks offa adsa, the places are actually over-flowing with the thing, it needs to stop being made!

OMG i can’t believe they are going to release a toy of the third Doctor. I’ve not seen any third doctor episodes before but they look really good. I still like the Eleventh Doctor’s sonic the best, but this one looks brillient.

2005 to 2009 screwdriver
sarah jane`s lipstick
masters lazer screwdriver
river songs screwdriver
the eleventh doctors sonic screwdriver

Posted by: geronimo August 19th, 2010

Posted by: Dalek Sec August 19th, 2010

Posted by: blob blob August 17th, 2010
After This I reckon there will be a fourth and fifth, maybe an eighth doctor sonic screwdriver, since are roughly the same sculpt. A Second Doctor one, although just a penlight will also be cool. I would also love a Sonic Lance

A whole new generation of Classic Who fans are busily building carboard models of the original Peter Brachacki TARDIS console. Of course they are.
It’s the best.
They’re all over youtube. So come along now Character Options. Come along now. Get yer finger out!
Posted by: Tyler August 14th, 2010
I hope when I by it it will cost ten pounds.
Posted by: booboo August 13th, 2010
I doubt it for £19.99, i’m just glad to be getting one
Posted by: saul August 13th, 2010
HHHMMMM booboo is it metal
Posted by: C@A August 13th, 2010
I really hate the paint on the yellow/black striped bit. The plastic there is too reflective.
Posted by: Matt August 6th, 2010
why are they still using the 2005-09 logo? :S
Looks good, i’ve been waiting for one of these for ages, hope they do a 4th Doctor one too, if these aren’t on genera, release i’m gonna be annoyed
Posted by: who crazy! August 4th, 2010
I’ve just hatched an idea
After this release they should make a 3rd doctor sonic screwdriver pen.
Posted by: vortex dude August 3rd, 2010
i dont like the packaging:neutral:
Posted by: mrman1 August 3rd, 2010
thanks, this makes sense now
I was wondering why two different companies would put both logos on it
Posted by: booboo August 3rd, 2010
No, character hold the licence for this type of Doctor Who Merchandise.
Underground toys basically commission these items via Character or it could be a jointly funded venture hence both names.
Posted by: mrman1 August 3rd, 2010
can somebody please answer my question
why has the classic sonic got the Underground Toys and CO logo on it?
are Underground Toys and CO the same company?
Posted by: who crazy! August 2nd, 2010
I do like the 3rd doctor.
These are the dvds i’ve got of him
Doctor who and the silurians
The sea devils
Carnival of monsters
The green death
The time warrior
my dad has a video of worzel gummidge so THERE!
Posted by: mrman1 August 2nd, 2010

Posted by: saul@hotmail.co.uk August 1st, 2010

Posted by: doctorwhogeek July 31st, 2010

Posted by: saul July 27th, 2010

Posted by: booboo July 24th, 2010
There are only 3 exclusives this year that are on sale at Comic con first, this happens a lot with all manufacturers at this show.
I’m sure they will find their way here.
The sonic is not on sale there and will be available like the silver nemisis cybermen/Tardis sets here at the same time as the US i’m sure
Whatever you do though pre order this stuff as soon as it goes up for sale.
Posted by: Peter July 24th, 2010
Its a PROTOTYPE! It will be available in the UK (Not just ENGLAND!)
Posted by: nesbitt412thdoctor July 24th, 2010
This isnt fair dr who is a purely british scifi so this stuff should be available in the UK before America
Posted by: doctor jazzy dalek July 24th, 2010

Posted by: pupbenny July 24th, 2010
Hmm, that was what all the fuss was about? I suppose it’s ok. Well it looks good. I’m not saying it’s rubbish or anything I just expected all the anticipitation would lead to something a bit more… Hmmm what’s the word? More big I suppose. Not big as in size I mean the other big!
Posted by: gary July 24th, 2010
i think it is fantastic, looks perfect!!! (i should point out that pertwee is my second favourite doctor ever so…)
Posted by: who crazy! July 24th, 2010
It looks exactly what it was like in doctor who in those times! In the sea devils episode the doctor uses it and comparing that to that makes a perfect sonic if you know what i mean…
Posted by: alex July 23rd, 2010
im hoped for better
ps: how much is it?
Posted by: Juddon Platoon July 23rd, 2010
I’m upset now I was hoping for better
Posted by: bessie July 23rd, 2010

Posted by: nesbitt412thdoctor July 23rd, 2010

Posted by: AlphaOmega July 23rd, 2010

Hmmmm BIG REVEAL!!!!! “BIG” “REVEAL” That Has To Be A Third Clue. it Must Be A Classic Tardis console room Otherwise Why Say BIG reveal. it has to be classic tardis console room. What Else Could It Be.
Its A Classic
Its NOT A Figure
All These Clues Point Towards A Classic Tardis Console Room.
Posted by: booboo July 23rd, 2010
From Underground Toys Twitter
Half an hour until the BIG REVEAL – come to our SDCC booth 3949 and see us at noon!
Posted by: the cyberking July 23rd, 2010
it has got to be a classic tardis console room because a bessie prototype has already been released and a classic sonic was a collectors item a couple years back!
Posted by: nesbitt412thdoctor July 23rd, 2010
When can we find out im so excited
Posted by: Milartington July 23rd, 2010
Whats going on boo boo
Posted by: the cyberking July 23rd, 2010
i am hoping for a season 10, 13 or 15 tardis set dapol managed an eighties on on a smaller scale and the 80′s 1 was more complex than the others so character and ut must be able to!
Posted by: tc July 23rd, 2010
it must be something big. i know that in the new argos catalogue which i have just collected there is an 11th doctor tardis playset with an exclusive cyberman figure from the pandorica opens
Posted by: pupbenny July 23rd, 2010
@booboo. How much is it most likely to be?
Posted by: booboo July 23rd, 2010
Should be around about 8pm
Posted by: nesbitt412thdoctor July 23rd, 2010
what time wil we find out
Posted by: booboo July 23rd, 2010
could be anything really – about 3.5 hours to go before we find out
Posted by: pupbenny July 23rd, 2010
Hmmm, booboo, could it be a set?
Because I was thinking it could be a classic doctors regenerating set. With just about all the classic doctors when they have just regenerated (excluding the 1st doctor and the 8th doctor).
Posted by: Adam Again July 23rd, 2010
When will they reveal pictures for the End of Time regeneration set.
I think its the Sonic Screwdriver used by Baker or Davison maybe the Sonic Lance.
Posted by: booboo July 23rd, 2010
I don’t think the pictures do it justice to be honest – hopefully there will be more news on this later
the Underground item is definitely something classic
Posted by: Peter July 23rd, 2010
Possibly ‘Bessie’?
Posted by: Rooners July 23rd, 2010
Here you go:
http://www.doctorwhotoys.net/eleventhdoctortardisplayset.htm
Posted by: Rooners July 23rd, 2010
I think this will be the new 11th Doctor TARDIS playset – prototype pics have already been leaked and can be seen on various sites. It doesnt look great…to be fair it’s not an easy TARDIS interor to replicate in playset form.
Posted by: Juddon Platoon July 23rd, 2010
A Tardis console room for the Fourth Doctor or a companion maybe oh please be a companion
Posted by: booboo July 23rd, 2010
Well that have said its not a figure, but that could mean its figures so to speak.
Many people were expecting a Delgado master and 3rd Doctor Twin pack of some sort
Posted by: Peter July 23rd, 2010
I reckon its a Roger Delgado Master Fig.
What do you think?
Posted by: THE SEEKER42 July 23rd, 2010
Could be anything, but not a figure. A TARDIS would be nice, but with it being UT it’ll be expensive especially for the console. The mahogany one would be awesome, and hopefully a little slot to put the TARDIS piece used in PoM.
Posted by: Sonic screwdriver July 23rd, 2010
Could be a Sonic screwdriver set, now there’s a thought
Classic console would be awesome
Posted by: The Master July 23rd, 2010
I’m bursting with excitement , it will be good whatever it is
Posted by: BooBoo July 23rd, 2010
Twitpic is very specific on copyright so i will only be able to post a small thumbnail that links to the main image sorry.
Posted by: the cyberking July 23rd, 2010
some sort of masque of mandragora tardis because all the classic tardises have had the wrong light and key hole position that would only be right on a masque of mandragora tardis they did it with the jon pertwee and sylvester mccoy figures
Posted by: BooBoo July 23rd, 2010
I assumed it was San Diego noon so about 8pm here
Posted by: Matt Smithington July 23rd, 2010
Booboo, when they reveal will you post pictures here?
( Please post a picture if you do, and not a link, my comp doesn’t let me on some sites.EG: The 11th doctor without jacket new picture and The new things to come from QMx )
Posted by: the cyberking July 23rd, 2010
do they mean san diego noon not noon here in england
Posted by: booboo July 23rd, 2010
I think Character have the licence but Underground toys commission the figures through them hence they can put there own name on it.
I think that how it works
Posted by: KORSAIR July 23rd, 2010
I’m curious as to how 2 different toy companies both have rights to produce Dr. Who action figures
Posted by: The Real Adam July 23rd, 2010
Gosh they taken my name! I got another now!
Posted by: nesbitt412thdoctor July 23rd, 2010
I bet u its the classic series TARDIS console room, when it revealed
Posted by: The Whofan101 July 23rd, 2010
To be confirmed at noon
Posted by: BooBoo July 23rd, 2010
The new Tardis playset is a Character item and has already been unveiled at a trade show. This has been commissioned by underground toys.
Posted by: The Whofan101 July 23rd, 2010
Those who keeps saying it’s the new tardises are wrong. A CLASSIC item
Posted by: dalek drone July 23rd, 2010
The new tardis play set is ment to be getting made maybe it is that
Posted by: king gerbil July 23rd, 2010
ooh i wonder what it is!
Posted by: the flaw games July 23rd, 2010
if it is a set it will explain why loads of figures now have holes in their feet so they can fit in there perfectly
Posted by: Jamie McCrimmon July 23rd, 2010
I heard there might be classic Davros but that would be a figure.
cant wait to find out
Posted by: Yt July 23rd, 2010
I really really hope this is a classic console, could be just a sonic though ( but that would be good to )
Posted by: DWFANNNO1 July 23rd, 2010
i want it to be matt smith in red bow tie and phez on his head with Rory Williams santurian, with Amy Pond in big bang clothes and doctor river song with gun! It would be amazing to have that
Posted by: My Best Friend Has Leprosy July 23rd, 2010
I believe the term is “tweeted” not “twitted”…
Posted by: booboo July 23rd, 2010
2 clues from underground toys…
Its classic and not a figure
Posted by: Adam July 23rd, 2010
Is it the End of Time regeneration set I would like to see the pictures for it.
Posted by: dalekship101 July 23rd, 2010
Or classic sonic
Posted by: dalekship101 July 23rd, 2010
I don’t think it will be figures I think it is a classic tardis console
Posted by: M_L_D_WHO July 23rd, 2010
Classic Tardis console bet ya
it would be awesome to have one
Posted by: KORSAIR July 22nd, 2010

Posted by: Frobisher July 22nd, 2010

would love a Classic console of playset
Posted by: Chandra. July 22nd, 2010
Someone asked at the UT SDCC Booth and got two hints about the ‘Big Reveal’ at 8pm tomorrow:
