Thanks for changing it! Though could I be awful and ask you to move the apostrophe before the ‘s’, there’s only one of me!

(This is what English AS has done to me… :/ )

What’s the Patrick Troughton biography like? Also what other biography/autobiography’s do you recommend?

The Patrick Troughton biography is great, well written engaging and lots of stuff I never knew about his wider life. I never finished it as school work got in the way and would happily start it from the beginning over the summer.

Lis Sladen’s is wonderful and I’m so glad it was published. I haven’t got round to reading the others yet so I can’t really comment. But Troughton and Lis are at the top of the list.

But anyway Patrick Troughton’s biography arrived today can’t wait to read it but I’ve got exams too all this week and next so talk about a bad time to order 😆
And thanks for the recommendation 🙂

I feel so privileged to have the opportunities to meet people (which generally comes from living near enough to London.) I’ve always felt that it’s the actors/writers/directors/producers and the like who make the show and I just want to be able to speak to them about it and share my appreciation. They’ve been taken all over the place and they are things I will treasure for a long time to come. Thanks for taking a look at my collection!

I’ve seen an episode of each (one at an event and one on the Pertwee Years Tape) and they both look great! I’ve always been quite tempted to get each but am waiting for the SE to go down in price. I haven’t got as many of Pertwee/TBaker/Davison as I’ve been focusing on completing the others but do really love a bit of Pertwee!

(I think next time I just buy a random story (rather than one in a run) it will be one of those; thanks!)

There’s quite a few isn’t there. If I manage to get them all they won’t quite fit on that shelf so will put some on top of it with the audio CDs of the missing episodes.

It’s funny because there are seemingly a lot more people on here who collect figures but for me (at the moment) the episodes are what really count!

All over the place. I’ve had photos with people at BFI Southbank, The Who Shop, Collectormania, Riverside Studios, Barking Learning Centre, Forbidden Planet London, The Cinema Museum, The Gallery in Cork Street, MCM Expo and Blackwell’s Charing Cross Road.

    • MasterKasterborous

Just thinking about it Collectormania is the only place I’ve had photos with people that wasn’t in London.

How many figures do you have? (or are DVD’s/books more your thing)

      August 27th, 2013 - 9:13pm

The shot of the figures and the photos behind are all I have. I picked them up cheap in FP when they had a deal (except the Cybermats; I love them and had to get them!)

DVDs are really my thing; I take the view that the episodes are what make the show and I want to watch them all. Once I’ve finished the range then I might move onto the Audios or figures. I love loads of the classic figures in particular but I only have so much money.

Most of the books were bought because I was going to a signing for them but again I just love the stories!

    • Trenzalore

      August 27th, 2013 - 9:19pm

I am doing exactly the same with the DVD’s I am trying to get them all, I have about 50 now. Do you think it’s worth buying both special edition and original release of DVD’s?

    • MasterKasterborous

      August 27th, 2013 - 9:44pm

Always go for the Special Editions as they are far superior in quality and special features. Whether to get the originals really depends as to whether they feature special features not found on the SE.

Most don’t (except for subtitles for the commentary which was quickly dropped and wasn’t included on the SE) but the rights for some features couldn’t be retained. These include Tombwatch but I don’t have the full list to hand.

    • Trenzalore

      August 27th, 2013 - 10:03pm

Yes, I currently own all special editions but I was wondering if I should get original releases for collection purposes.

    • MasterKasterborous

      August 28th, 2013 - 9:07am

These are the ones I would suggest and why:

The Tomb of the Cybermen – Tombwatch
The Three Doctors – Panopticon ’93
The Movie – Jon Pertwee Dedication

The Caves of Androzani – Episode 1: Not as broadcast (wipe transition replaced)

A lot of others have commentary subtitles not found on the revisitations. And Spearhead from Space SE and Blu-Ray are designed to have both of.

I was just about to ask if you put them up; that was quick!

If anyone has any questions; I can share some further details on anything. (Quite a lot of the books and DVDs are signed.)
