Only sets I’m interested in are the 3rd,8th and 9th because they’re all new Dalek variants
I was thinking the special planet Dalek could be a replica of the ones they used for the ice volcano eruption,8th is a nice change since we haven’t had a comic figure released before as far as I know, the 9th is the one with the special gun that I have always wanted a 5″ release of but before it was only released as a Rare remote control 16″ Dalek

Around about the same time as planet of the daleks, there was a comic adaptation of it. Could the special dalek to appear in the third doctor set be from the comic version cos there were some cool black and red variants

I wonder perhaps if the 3rd Doctor’s ‘very interesting’ Dalek is a 5″ replica of one of the Marx toys the BBC used in that story? Just a thought… 💡

      As opposed to what ?

    • Anonymous

      May 9th, 2013 - 8:16pm

Absolutely not. It is only officially canon if it has been “broadcast” by the BBC which is a bit difficult for a comic strip (it could be done if it was put on the BBC website).

All we can gather from this release is that Co now have the rights to the DWM comic strips for making figures, it has nothing to do with canon.

    • The Driver

      May 11th, 2013 - 8:21am

So why do a figure from a comic

    • Hellbelly

      May 11th, 2013 - 10:00am

The subject of “canon” is a very vague one when it comes to Doctor Who.
There’s no “official” definition, unlike Star Trek (where only the TV series and films are considered canon).
Considering the writers of the 8th Doctor’s comics stories worked very closely with the BBC, especially towards the end of the run, just before the new series started (originally 8 would have regenerated into 9 in the comic, but the BBC wanted the “reveal” to happen on tv) I’d say that unless it’s contradicted by the TV series it can be considered “canon”.

Any way the hand has being talk about by the 10th doctor.

    • videogamemad00

      May 12th, 2013 - 9:58pm

I only class what’s on TV as canon because it would be hard to keep up with all the comics, books etc.

    • The Monitor

      May 14th, 2013 - 5:16pm

I think after TV the nearest to canon we get is audio. It is hard not to consider some canonicity gained from so many Paul McGann audios.

      May 8th, 2013 - 8:46pm

Ok, I hope that they at least reveal pictures of some of the others

    • booboo

      May 8th, 2013 - 8:49pm

i think at the moment they wont want to divert attention a way for the 1st 3, some of the others are highly desirable

    • Tardis’nt

      May 8th, 2013 - 8:53pm

Ah, so they want to get these less desirable ones sold out, then release the ones that everyone will buy?

    • booboo

      May 8th, 2013 - 9:00pm

not necessarily, i think the 10th Doctor one with the weathering is fantastic, each set will have its ups and downs, I just think they will want to get the ball rolling with the 1st 3 actually in stock and selling before showing you any of the others.

The 8th Doctor one will be huge, as will the 1st probably now they have changed it and when everyone sees the 3rd they will say “What the heck is that, i just have to have me one of those”

    • Tardis’nt

      May 8th, 2013 - 9:12pm

Why limited edition? I don’t have any money left (currently) so i cant get it the minute it comes out, and in this case it is gonna sell out quickly and why £19.99? I tell you why, so they could use the “limited edition” sticker to put the price up to £19.99! I am not complaining, it’s just i cant get these sets because of the fact they look like they will sell out quickly!

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head!

But I really don’t think they will sell out – I’m sure they will be ‘Limited’ to as many people who want to buy one & I’m sure they will at the ‘reasonable’ price of £19.99…

    • booboo

      May 3rd, 2013 - 10:05pm

I’m still not convinced they will stay at that price – legally they have to offer it at the higher price for a while to show a reduction.

having said that some of the variants are worth £19.99 to people but others are way of the mark

    • drjakeyoung

      May 3rd, 2013 - 10:02pm

      May 4th, 2013 - 8:55am

To be fair figures are £9.99 each and you get two figures in this set, so that’s £19.98, so it’s only one penny more! At least their not £25 or something!
