LEGO® Ideas 21304 Doctor Who Set by Andrew Clark RRP £49.99 Due December 1st

Construct a stunningly detailed LEGO® version of the iconic TARDIS® and role-play the Doctor’s time-travel adventures!

Doctor-Who-lego-2

Created by fan-designer Andrew Clark and selected by LEGO Ideas members, this set is based on the BBC’s popular and long-running television series about a Time Lord – the Doctor – exploring the universe in a blue police box.

Due to trans-dimensional engineering, the TARDIS is bigger on the inside than the outside and this cool multifunctional set includes the console room that houses all the flight controls.

Doctor-Who-lego-1

Regenerate the Doctor and defeat the evil Daleks™ and a Weeping Angel with the help of his extraordinary companion Clara. Then close the doors of the TARDIS and launch into another dimension!
lego-5

Includes 4 minifigures with assorted accessory elements: the Eleventh Doctor, the Twelfth Doctor, Clara Oswald and a Weeping Angel, plus 2 Daleks™.

lego-7

Lego Dimensions…

Build the minifigure heroes and fire-up the game to start the experience, then follow the in-game build instructions to assemble the loose bricks into the LEGO Gateway, and place the structure on the LEGO Toy Pad.

That’s not expensive at all for what you get, the figures the Tardis the bigger on the inside, concept, Dr who, and costs to make and franchise from bbc licensing, great bargain. Amazing set would buy ever Dr who Lego set ever made by lego, we want more!!!

Bought two from the lego shop last night, now showing sold out. Will be sold in other places. Soon too for xmas! So if you get one get your hands on them now. Amazing. Love the Tardis set by lego.

    And worth every single penny.

I agree it’s a set worth having but it being worth the price is debatable.
I did research into sets of similar piece count and same costs and generally this set does feature more pieces for price than most others, however….

When compared to the Wall-E ideas set you realise how much you’re paying for the DW/BBC branding, the Wall-E set is £39.99, so £10 LESS than the DW set AND as a model has 53 more pieces.

Regardless of how you look production costs etc this is just one example (although I’m sure there are others) that shows how much these are marked up in price just because of branding or to make them seem more worth it

I bought two sets at the Lego Store at Washington Square. There was a huge line infront of the store before it opened. So glad I was 4th in line. Can’t wait to build it.

Got my set. It’s okay and fun enough, I just can’t help but think it’s a missed opportunity, particularly if this is the only Doctor Who LEGO set we ever get. I think it was created with the Doctor Who LEGO Dimensions products in mind and it doesn’t quite settle with me. When you consider the Ideas sets based on Ghostbusters and Back to the Future they, for me, do a better job of capturing their franchise in the one set. Just altering the colour of the TARDIS time rotor and including a proper Twelfth Doctor would have been that little bit better.

    C’est la vie!

Being a massive Lego fan. It’s sadly expensive becaus 1) they pay to use the Doctor and other characters so need to get money back 2) it’s an idea set so they also give the creator some of the money 3) Lego use good quality plastic for figures so costs more. But for what you get it’s really good, (the Big Bang theory wasn’t as good personally)

    • I’m not the doctor if your wondering

      November 24th, 2015 - 4:25pm

Its not that expensive as Lego have to pay a shed load to the BBC for the rights that usually puts up the set by quite a lot. But saying that Lego has always been that expensive but only increased due the popular demand of licensed sets.

Well, i havent pre-ordered any yet. Do you know where I can pre-order in the U.S.? I’m worried that its been made such a big deal that once released I can’t find it any where. DW Lego deminsions set are hard to find. Only seen 2 sets in stores that ive seen. This is why I believe once the offical set comes out itll be next to impossible to find.

The only nitpick I have is 12 is not wearing his costume and instead he’s wearing 11’s series 7B costume.

That’s because they want you to buy the other Doctor Who LEGO sets, especially the one with the 12th Doctor in his new series outfit.

    • The Doctor

      October 26th, 2015 - 10:57am

I agree they didn’t use the correct costume and plus that clara never met the doctor with a tweed jacket!

    • Andrew

      November 19th, 2015 - 4:56pm

      Actually, She did.

      Asylum of the Daleks.

She didn’t meet him in the outfit she is wearing in the set. but then, they didn’t meet face to face.

    • The Living Shadow

      November 20th, 2015 - 9:50pm

That was Oswin. And she technically never ‘met’ the Doctor, at least outside the Dalek casing.

    • Drwhofan130

      November 26th, 2015 - 9:06am

It’s based off time of the doctor, the only thing that isn’t right in the set is 11 wearing tweed but it’s a nice extra better then two doctors that are wearing the same costume plus it’s Lego the heads are removable meaning you can recreate 11s reg

the only thing in this set ill be changing is ill swap elevens trousers for a pair of plain black ones as the length of the tweed jacket is ridiculous

    • The Living Shadow

      November 20th, 2015 - 9:53pm

It’s not that long; I mean tweed jackets don’t usually end at the top of the trousers!
