Who let the dog out? Humanity’s best friend K9 gets a complete 21st Century makeover as he wags his way into his own TV series.

Voiced by actor John Leeson, he was first introduced to viewers in the DR WHO story arc, “The Invisible Enemy ” (1977), which starred Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor and Louise Jameson as Leela traveling to Saturn’s moon Titan.

Since then he has been an enduring (and endearing) companion over many years to several Doctors, including David Tennant in “School Reunion” (2006) and again in “Journey’s End” (2008) together with Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith. With Sladen he also appeared in the two spin-off series K-9 AND COMPANY (1981) and THE SARAH JANE ADVENTURES (2007 – present).

The new TV series K9 is created by Bob Baker and Paul Tams and started airing on UK terrestrial TV in December, 2010.

Originally created by Bob Baker and Dave Martin, K9 is a brave and sensitive character, often sacrificing himself to help save his “Master.”

Now you get to be his master and take him home to look after him in the shape of this highly detailed and hand-painted resin figurine produced with the co-operation and help of the creators. Isn’t that a great idea, K9? “AFFIRMATIVE!” 4″ poly-resin figurine in full colour packaging

A side by side comparison shot of the two K9 models…

A comparison shot with a 5″ figure…

given long enough, everything and anything could come out eventually, what you see is only part of countless possibilities

It looks good with the CO figures. K-9 fits quite well. It’s a bit heavier than I expected. Will there be more produced?

    • Posted by: booboo May 6th, 2012

      possibly later

When this figurine was first announced, I thought it was actually 4″ tall  , so I wasn’t bothered about it. I am now tempted to get one, but they have probably all sold out.

I bought this today and it’s a beauty! Highly recommended (there were only 2 left in my Forbidden Planet)

Don’t worry too much about it, just read what Jason Dr Who said !

Finally, the news of this thing has been up for ages now, and it’s pointless really it’s for an australian spin off show that’s not really good, well atleast I don’t think so.

BTW I have that Doctor figure, it’s awesome. Had to buy a new crash set of ebay after finding out the blue variant will not be released in a fabled “11 Doctors toys R us special edition”. :P

    • Posted by: Dalek Sec May 12th, 2012

Australia deserves a Doctor Who Spin off, as long as its brilliant. I only watched one K-9 epi, but it wasn’t very good, but maybe if I watched more it would change my mind. (I doubt it through)

  10. Posted by: Jason doctorwhoone April 29th, 2012 Reply

I don’t bother with anything to do with this K9 as I don’t view that series as a Doctor Who spin-off, just something best ignored, cos for one thing, it’s not even made by the BBC like the other spin-off shows, and this K9 surely can’t be the mark 1 as he was with Leela and must have stayed with her on Gallifrey even during the Time War, not leave her to face curtain doom at the hands of the Daleks and bugger off to Australia with a redesign, plus Ive seen some videos of the show on YouTube and I can honestly say it’s really REALLY bad :P

    • Posted by: YT April 29th, 2012

I quite liked it and it is K9 Mk1 which is shown at the beginning of episode one.

      I hope we a get a series 2

    • Posted by: doctorwhofan27 April 29th, 2012

i like it too. *SPOILER to the book The Gallifrey Chronicles* the theory i read on how he got to be what was in the show is that after he was broken in the Gallifrey Chronicles and Leela refused to fix him, the Time Lords fixed him anyway and put in a regeneration circuit. Then the episode explains the rest.

the new K.9 looks like he belongs next to the 11th Doctor, old K.9 seems out of place

*sighs* i miss the old days when the 11th doc was new and it was so special to get a 11 doc figure and especially the toys r us blur tie n brown boots figure, ect, ect. Just reminisin after seein that picture of the blue tie n brown boots figure….

nice k-9 figure btw. i might be interested in getting it perhaps.

    • Posted by: Jamie April 28th, 2012

I miss the old days when the first 9th doctor figure came out, it was new and it was special and it to was exclusive to Toys r us in the Dalek battle pack.

    • Posted by: pupbenny April 28th, 2012

      Ah, yes. I remember that…. :)

    • Posted by: Leelafan101 April 29th, 2012

I agree with you pupbenny. I remember wanting to do an eleventh doctor stop motion series with the raggedy dr once he came out (like an alternate universe)

    • Posted by: Dalek Sec April 29th, 2012

I miss pulling Dalek Sec out of his box, then admiring his detail. Also I think that 11th Doctor figure is the best.

    • Posted by: Anonymous May 10th, 2012

      That’s because it isn’t a toy, it’s a heavy, solid, hand-finished resin collector’s model :)

    • Posted by: Rooners August 30th, 2011

      Hey BooBoo

If you are getting this anyway, will you be able to do a photo comparing this with the Character Options K9 toy…just so we can see if they are actually the same scale..?

      Cheers

    • Posted by: booboo August 30th, 2011

yes we will definitely be getting it, hopefully a preview sample so we will do plenty of pics

    • Posted by: James April 28th, 2012

I have only seen the first episode and felt a strong ambivalence towards it (if that makes sense) and yet still feel a weird attraction to buying this. Only if the price goes WAAAYYYY down, though.

  35. Posted by: The Spaceman August 20th, 2011 Reply

If this is in scale with the Doctor Who figures I will get it.

  36. Posted by: dr11 August 20th, 2011 Reply

14.99!!!… NO WAY …4 INCH…NO WAY THIS IS
RUBISH SO NOT WORTH IT. ITS HUGE COMPARED TO ALL THE OUTHER K9′S.

    • Posted by: booboo August 20th, 2011

£14.99 is the RRP its available for less and dont discount the size just yet, the description might be wrong

  37. Posted by: DRWHO is GREAT August 19th, 2011 Reply

I thought it would be to scale with 5 inch, if it was I would get but sorry… I’m out

    • Posted by: Emperor Omega August 19th, 2011

Same here. I was looking forward to having this version of K9 with the Doctor & Leela, but now I can’t, coz’ it’s way too big!

    • Posted by: DRWHO is GREAT August 20th, 2011

People who are good at customs would most probaly get a k9 and make it into this new, it could be difficult for them though!

  38. Posted by: MasterKasterborous August 18th, 2011 Reply

    Anyone know of any signings???

    • Posted by: booboo August 18th, 2011

no but we will put it on the site if we hear of any

    • Posted by: MasterKasterborous August 21st, 2011

you are using my name at first i thought that you were just a big fan but your not sayin its you stop using my name!!!!

  39. Posted by: Mels August 18th, 2011 Reply

If we get this in Australian shops I’ll probably get one (it does look nice), but if I have to special order it online I may not bother, unless a shop I normally buy from stocks it.

  40. Posted by: KORSAIR August 18th, 2011 Reply

Not in scale and too pricey…….think I’ll do without

  41. Posted by: TickleOnTheTum August 17th, 2011 Reply

If it’s 4 inches then it isn’t in scale with the 5″ figures from CO… shame… so won’t be getting this…

  42. Posted by: Rooners August 17th, 2011 Reply

    £14.99!!!!!?????

    • Posted by: dalek 1 August 17th, 2011

no way man not getting it

    • Posted by: MasterKasterborous August 18th, 2011

That is only the RRP. It will probably be a lot cheaper in some stores.

    • Posted by: Gary August 18th, 2011

its 12.99 on FP but its 4″ high so it will be huge compared to the currant figures i thought they said originally it would be a similar scale the Doctor Who line

  43. Posted by: Ian O’Brien August 17th, 2011 Reply

Not a fan of the new K9 series but will get this as I have seen & touch the actual prop.

    • Posted by: Mumble5557 August 17th, 2011
