Mark Ayres dark and mysterious synth score to Marc Platt’s 3-part TV series with Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor.
Originally released on Silva Screen Records in 1993, in this new version Ghost Light is freshly re-mastered from the original analogue stereo master tapes with consecutive cues combined into longer tracks.
Also included are additional tracks previously omitted and the complete initial “demo” version of the music for Part One. The album presents the score
in story order.

Tracks 6, 7, 17, 29-40 Previously Unreleased.
Though the score features small themes and motifs, the musical narrative relies on “sounds” rather than “themes”.
The composer juxtaposes the tender sound of strings, harp, clarinet with native drums and unearthly sounds of pipes, distorted gong, organ and choir.
Ghost Light was the final production of the series’ original 26-year run.

July 16th, 2013 - 4:15pmPeter Davison has said that ‘The Caves Of Androzani’ was his favorite story he ever did. Sylvester McCoy said the same thing about ‘Ghost Light’. If Patrick Troughton liked ‘The Krotons’ you would think they were releasing each Doctor’s favorite story.

July 16th, 2013 - 5:20pmThey’d need the music to be separate from the footage, whih isn’t always the case (you’d be unlikely to find anything from the 70s like that, and all the stuff from the 60s will be a no go, as all the masters have been wiped.

I thought too many of the tracks on Androzani were too similar and the Krotons was mostly sound effects. Maybe this would be a but hard to do but they could try releasing a soundtrack for each Doctor with the best tubes from their times

July 16th, 2013 - 4:24pmmaybe you should try hunting down the original 1992 silva screen cd compilation cds.Theres androzani as well as other music from the davison era as well as some of tom bakers later incidental music. I agree, it sometimes can get a bit repetitious if its all from the same story.Having said that I,d like them to release the full soundtracks to inferno and the sea devils.
