Dalek War Box set
Featuring two six-part Jon Pertwee adventures involving one of the Doctor’s greatest nemeses and Packed with a host of fantastic special features.
Frontier in space
When the TARDIS accidentally brings the Doctor and Jo aboard Earth cargo ship C982, they find it under attack. The crew perceive the Doctor, Jo and the attackers as Draconians, whose empire currently rivals Earth’s for control of the galaxy. But the Doctor and Jo see only Ogrons – brutish, simian mercenaries who steal the cargo, including the TARDIS, and head off into space.
The Doctor’s investigations take him to Earth, the Moon and then to Draconia itself. He discovers that the Ogrons are employed by his sworn enemy, the Master, who is attempting to provoke a war between the space empires. The Doctor suspects the scale of the plan is too grand for the Master, but even he is shocked to discover the identity of the far deadlier foe waiting in the wings…
Planet of the Daleks
Injured after a shoot-out between his old nemesis the Master and the Ogrons, slaves to the evil Daleks, the Doctor sends a message to the Time Lords, asking them to pilot his TARDIS and follow the Daleks to their new base. After he slips into a coma, it falls to his assistant Jo Grant to explore the planet where the TARDIS finally materialises. She meets a party of Thals and is left in hiding aboard their crashed spaceship while they go to the Doctor’s aid. On his recovery, the Doctor learns of their mission to destroy a party of Daleks sent here to discover the native Spiridons’ secret of invisibility.
Not only must the Doctor contend with the Daleks’ new scheme, but he must try to stop them unleashing a plague that will exterminate all organic life. When a rescue ship of Thals arrive, they bring with them darker news still – somewhere on Spiridon 12,000 Daleks are waiting to emerge and take what they believe is their rightful place as the Universe’s supreme beings!

I remember watching Frontier in Space on video when I was a kid, and then when it got to the final episode, the Daleks came out and then I never got to see the rest.

Got this for my Birthday what a great present.
I really enjoyed Frontier in Space and Planet of The Daleks, I really liked the Master, and the Dalek voices in Planet (particularily Mike Wishers) were superb, if only he wasnt so busy with his stage work he could have been a Dalek voicer for later stories. Did he voice any Daleks in Genesis? I thought Planet of The Daleks was in many respects, very good, and very rubbish.
Good things about Planet of The Daleks.
1 The Spiiridon Jungle is really quite special, its a good piece of work and another example of the creativity and effortful work that the crew behind Doctor Who would contribute to making it as good as they could with the less than high budget. And there are alot of nasty creatures lurking about. The green tentacle thing, the squirty-pukey things, and um….. the flying thing that the characters had previously heard but never seen?
2 And there is alot going on, in a certain way, the characters may not get up to much and the pacing is unexciting, but there are alot of different elements to the story and alot of actiony stuff. The molten ice, the invisible Spiiridons with their shiny purple rugs, the squirty-pukey things, the Daleks, the dormant Dalek army of 200!, or is it ten thousand? moving on, then theres the escape from the Dalek base, i didnt think we would get to see them actually parachuting their way out!
And the Daleks getting killed by the icey water, the virus the Daleks try to release, it all makes the story very rewatchable and interesting and certainly
contributes to making this episode a celebrational one for Dr Whos first decade.
3 The Dalek voices are nothing less than exceptional, if only they were this good in all Dr Who storys.
4 The Doctor, once again excellently well performed by Pertwee, gets a suitabley large role in this episode which is how it should always be IMO. Too many stories focus mostly on other characters or the companions. I dont really care for the way PDs Doctor is often such a minor companion in many of his episodes, they may as well have renamed the series “Tegan and her Timelord acquantance” during the early 80s.
5 Look at how The Third Doctor is so splendidly attired the Third Doctor is, purple coat, purple gloves, I just cant stop staring at that lovely purple coat……. We need an action figure of this!
Bad things about Planet of The Daleks.
1 The Supreme Dalek only appears at the very last episode, I was expecting an appearance as late as part 3. And surely they could have done something to sort out the badly timed flashes of the Dalek head lamps which not once do they coincide twith The Supreme Daleks speech.
2 I was rather uninterested for some of the later parts, the story just seemed so stale by then, stupid green jungle, stupid Dalek dialogue, stupid Thals in their brownyish yellowyish jump suits running up and down the set, stupid………boring…….so…….bored……………………………….ohhhhhh……….
These things become torture to watch if you have been watching them for six whole parts, Daleks, jungle, thals, daleks, jungle, thals, daleks, thals, jungle, more thals, daleks, jungle, thals, daleks, jungle, thals, daleks, thals.thals, daleks, jungle, thalsthalsthalsthalsthalsthals and then more and more of the thals…. I personally recommend watching one part a day, because most people get very sleepy watching this.
