I don’t think it is OK to make two versions of the same figure, why not make Commander Skorr or one of the different monks from Capaldi’s last series. At least you’re getting a variant figure that’s different.

I may be biased because I love Donna but a Donna with time beetle on her back would be cool! I’ve recently got into buying these figures and recently got a bargain on ebay- 29 figures for £5.70- I genuinely feel awful for the seller but I think nobody wants to travel to Birmingham to collect anything unless they love there like me

Oh and definitely a macra special edition! It would be cool to see either the animated verison or the original prop as both looked cool.

I’m loving the collection – the figurines have got better and better as time goes on. My only complaint (and it’s a tiny one!) is that the magazine itself could really do with better proof reading. It’s not a large document, but there’s usually one or two glaring text issues in each one – typically a missed word or mangled sentence. I appreciate it may be down to short timescales and what have you, but just though I’d mention it.

Like I said, apart from that it’s great! Here’s to many more editions!

Thanks for that list phantom. Very useful to me to make sure that I’ve managed to get a complete set of this great collection! Does anyone know when the list will be updated with the next wave of figures? Normally it’s about 8 figures in front of the issue dates. I’ve never only known the next 3 figures to be issued?

So all those who complain that there are more new who figures are wrong then…

    • Neil Corry

      April 20th, 2019 - 11:45am

To be fair to those who’d like to see the collection favour the classic series, there are still more stories from 63 to 96 than there are 05 to 19 (around 150-ish to around 130). This site, http://wiki.k-e.org.uk/index.php?title=Doctor_Who_Figurine_Collection, has the information presented very well. I use it often…!

      April 21st, 2019 - 1:18am

To be honest Neil I don’t think it matters when the figure is from but whether the figure is, how best to put it? Popular/a major character/striking/unique. The era doesn’t matter so much as the subject matter

    • Badwolf359

      April 21st, 2019 - 2:33am

4th Doctor Era is grossly under-represented given its massive span compared to others (and popularity arguably).

    • Anonymous

      April 21st, 2019 - 12:03pm

The counter argument to the fourth doctor era is this, yes it spanned seven years but compared to pertwee say, there are less stand out characters in Tom’s era.

    • Badwolf359

      April 21st, 2019 - 5:29pm

I’d agree if talking about season 15 and 16 but well known figures like classic Davros and zygon, kraal, Krynoid man, masked Hieronymous, Eldrad, voc robot, Greel and Sin are notably absent.

    • Anonymous

      April 21st, 2019 - 8:57pm

Trouble is that with a limited amount of releases you can say that about most eras. This figure from that era isn’t out yet and so on. Hopefully they’ll get an extended licence and we’ll get more figures from all eras

    • Neil Corry

      April 22nd, 2019 - 1:50pm

@badwolf359: You can take three of those before issue 166 🙂

    • Anonymous

      April 23rd, 2019 - 2:34pm

      How about another list:

How many figures (if any) have been made from each of the stories (I’m counting the key to time as separate tales – just like the ones in trial of a time lord).

Any stories not yet featured? (‘The Gunfighters’ -‘cough’ ‘cough’ generic cowboys anyone? – personally, not really bothered)

    • Anonymous

      April 23rd, 2019 - 3:37pm

Old Who 52.75% New Who 47.25%

Brexit Leave 51.9% Brexit Stay 48.1%

pretty damned close in both cases – and both just as contentious.

When this collection launched, I was reminded of a thought I had when watching The Five Doctors, the moment when the time scoop started gathering all the ‘playing pieces’, and one-by-one little figurines were placed onto an illuminated console.

“I hope someone makes figures of all the Doctor Who characters.” It’s taken a while but they’ve finally started to appear.

I’m sure it’s possible to draw up a list of figures (excluding Doctors and Companions) that would go beyond the 180 issue point. Add in the Doctors and Companions and the list simply runs away (especially if every single Dalek variant is accounted for).

So, if a licence extension is needed then please, powers-that-be, extend the licence, at least until the year of the 60th anniversary. There may be a dip in interest over the next few years, especially when there’s no new Who on screen, but the closer it gets to the anniversary then the greater the interest there will be. Knowing that the series (of figures) will continue for more than just another year or so may encourage fans to continue collecting in the hopes of obtaining quite possibly the most complete set ever.

There have been more than a few collections of Who material that have appeared over the years. Each claiming to be a definitive set of something or “The Complete…”. Unfortunately, each collection produces items up to a certain point and then stops, rather abruptly. Either interest drops, or licences expire, or a rigidly defined fixed point is set (which collectors hope will be extended but to no avail). I know commercial interest have to take precedent.

So, if the collection does stop at 180 then please consider either completing the range within some of the following possible break points: Classic era – everything from last century, Modern era – everything from 2005 onwards, First Iteration – everything up to and including Matt Smith’s Doctor, Second Iteration – Peter Capaldi onwards.

Or you could do what the programme did. Put the collection on hiatus for a year or two, then bring it back with issue 181 and then continue the run…

PS anyone know what may have happened to those original Five Doctors figures?

I’d love the magazine to run and run. It’s great fun to do, and feedback like this is always great to see. You’re right in that partworks – at least the ones I’ve collected – do seem to come to an abrupt end, and I hope I can try to do something about that in the future.

I am sincerely hoping that future is far away but, for now, I’m gonna enjoy what we have in the collection (the original plan was to run to just 70 issues!), and what we’ve managed to achieve with it so far, and I really hope that you all enjoy what we’ve got coming up.

And I’ve got a cracker for issue 180.

She’s now got figures from most eras but not all of the figures just the ones she likes. Tzim-sha and kerblam man are on her list though, along with the troughton/Jamie set.

Peter Kay previously banned figures of himself, but Warlords made a miniature so maybe things have changed? Personally, the Tennant era won’t be complete until we get him and the Flood (plus a Cybershade, but we know that’s on the way).

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the blue costume never appear in the tv series? I know he had the blue cape in one episode (the name escapes me right now) so does that mean you can do Big Finish characters and costumes? I’d love to see a Blue coat 8th doctor and Alex McQueen & James Dreyfus Masters.

Not the colour but the design is copyright big finish/bbci as it was done for the cybermen story on the BBC website using artwork. So copyright could be complicated. Part big finish, part BBC and part original artist

I’d like to see a 1963 and a Twice Upon a Time Console released and could you imagine one for Season 20? One of the most technical consoles ever made. I’d like some made for the new series as well. As for Exteriors the one’s I’d like made first would be 1963, 2018 and 2005 as they’re my favourite designs. Such a great collection is the figurine collection! 🙂

The TARDIS Special edition that was released a couple of years ago was great. One of my favourite thing from the collection.

I hope we get a Recon Dalek, I presume we will be in due course.

I wish they made a Pin Badge line too, I remember there was a Q&A thing about future productions and a Pin Badge collection would have been ideal.

Do you know I’ve never even thought about having a favourite tardis or console room design! Watched since the early 70s and genuinely never crossed my mind. Hope you get the designs you want anonymous. Oh and I think recon dalek is pretty much a given. I imagine they are discussing that one for definite.

Do you think they will be able to make: pyroviles, abzorbaloff, cybershade, genesis ark, peg dolls, vespiform, trickster (as David Tennant was in it), dalek sec (open casing – daleks in manhattan)?

    Reply
    • The Flying Shark

      April 5th, 2019 - 7:28am

Probably not the Trickster, as SJA is a separate licence (although perhaps they could bend the rules as he was mentioned in the main show?). Love to see the Flood added to that list too.

    • Neil Corry

      April 5th, 2019 - 11:49am

The Doctor Who Figurine Collection can do all those excepting the Trickster, as Flying Shark says. The Genesis Ark is a *thing* rather than a character, although I’m sure we could bend the rules in this case. Two of those, the Pyrovile (a special issue) and the Cybershade (regular issue) are currently in production.

      Bring on the pting!

    • Anonymous

      April 3rd, 2019 - 2:52pm

How about a Miss Foster (Matron) figure surrounded by Adipose at her feet? Would the scale work that way?

Because of their size then perhaps the only other option might be an Adipose as part of the Specials or Mega ranges instead.

    • Anonymous

      April 3rd, 2019 - 3:19pm

      just to elaborate:

Miss Foster – standing with sonic pen in hand, unable to move due to the number of Adipose climbing all over each other (one or two high) around her feet. Some even waving to each other (or us?). Completely covering the base.

      or

A column of Adipose as they’re beamed up to their ship – transparent tube of coloured sparkly water (transportation beam) filled with floating Adipose…

…I’ve just had a flashback to one of those old 70’s style lava lamps!

      or

A ‘life size’ Adipose from the Mega Special range – don’t think there would be much interest, so probably not commercially viable.

Have to see what this figure looks like, though Tim Shaw wasn’t impressive on screen. Re Classic figures, I’m hard pressed to think of a figure I’d pass on. Possibly the killer doll from Terror of the Autons. Possibly. ;o)

Hi Neil. Just like to say that i have been a Doctor Who fan for 45 years (i’m 52) and i think the figures in this range are fantastic. The intricate detail on them is amazing and it’s great to see some of the more unusual monsters. Long may it continue. People should stop moaning about this figure, that figure and just be grateful that we are lucky enough to have this range that i wish i had when i was about 10 years old!

      March 30th, 2019 - 6:05pm

Bicky, really appreciate your reply and I’m very happy that you’re enjoying the collection.

Have to say, I never see it as moaning, as we all like what we like. I would love everyone to love every figure but I know that’s impossible. There’s so much thought that goes into deciding the figurines and so many decisions that we know we can’t please everybody, but we will always try 🙂

Spot on bicky, I’m 49, been watching who since I was 3 (i remember bits of the green death! But only bits and very little from pertwee’s final season, robot onwards is when my memory really kicks in, I’d have been 4-5 then) All through my childhood I’d have loved something like these figures. Then in my collecting figures days when I was mid twenties I’d have been over the moon with them. Now I don’t collect merchandise except books and DVDs but I do buy specially requested figures from this range for my daughter. She loves them and has already asked for this one, everybody has different tastes, (she’s begging for the frog on the chair Neil!) If a figure isn’t to your tastes don’t complain and dismiss other people’s desire for it, just wait for the next one… keep up the excellent work neil

If we have to have two versions of the same alien Id much rather see a Draconian soldier, gun at the ready or Rago and Toba. There are plenty of classic aliens missing from the set which simply should not be left out… a frog in a chair you seriously are kidding me ?? The only frog in a chair Im interested in seeing is Monarch the main villain in four to doomsday….

      March 31st, 2019 - 6:56pm

The fact that the collection has gone from an original 80 to at least 180 shows that the vast majority are happy with the mix, i think the “team” have done a great job with this collection, everyone has their own expectations of course but i certainly want series 11 well represented.

Anonymous frankly I dont care about people who like nu who – theyve had MORE than their fair share in this collection…if 180 is the end point their are plenty of classics which need to be included…there wouldnt be any nu Who if the classic series hadnt lasted so long and Im sick to death of people who think we owe the existence of classic items to the second rate series nu who has been since it returned. Nu Who fans have in the end turned on every producer there has been since the show has come back. Over on the hero collector page on face book you barely here a word in favour of nu who.

    • Anonymous

      March 31st, 2019 - 9:40pm

Social media is hardly a place to judge opinion! Without the success of new who there wouldn’t be merchandise. It really is that simple. As for turning on producers that’s not new in slightest. And it tends to be a minority of fans who shout the loudest. I loved old who but I’m the first to admit it wasn’t perfect, neither is new who but then new who has won awards for acting, writing ect, so you must be right, it must be terrible… if you don’t like it don’t watch it and don’t buy anything from it. Simple really. Just don’t dismiss a show which now has a huge worldwide following due to new who. The show ended 30 years ago when the ratings were very poor, when many fans were complaining bitterly about it (those same fans then complained when it was cancelled) in 1996 it returned and failed to make an impact. In 2005 it came back and has been a huge success. Series 11 has enjoyed the highest ratings for 10 years. Now I loved the McCoy years, I loved the mcgann movie and I love new and old who I’ve watched this show for over 40 years I see no difference between the various periods. I can happily watch a hartnell followed by Whittaker then move to t Baker then tennent or Smith, it’s all the same to me. Its doctor who… and I love it…

    • The Werewolf

      March 31st, 2019 - 10:09pm

Anonymous person, you are the light in the darkness. Yes, all Who is Who whether you like just some of it, or all of it, old or new. That’s what makes this collection great, because it treats new and old as the same show, as it should. Even though the first 14 were all new, it has continued to cater to all of Who, as it should. Whitaker is a great Doctor (and there are many people who agree, like all Doctors, she pleases some fans more than others and that’s fine – same with any Doctor)

    • Who rules

      March 31st, 2019 - 10:29pm

Thank you werewolf, it’s heartfelt as well. I genuinely mean what I say. I loved Whittaker, as I love troughton, etc, etc. It’s been the same show to me since I started watching when I was 3 years old. Now my children watch (they’ll even watch hartnell with me! In black and white!) I never question which doctor they prefer, which companion is there favourite or which monster thrills them the most… that’s for them to decide… long may the series continue, long may these figures continue (beyond 180 I hope for people) and roll on Jodie’s return. By the way I keep forgetting to put my username on!

    • Who rules

      April 1st, 2019 - 1:17am

Ok, here’s another little thing about eras. I should by rights be a die hard Tom Baker fan. His was the era I grew up watching (age 4-11) however I’m not a huge fan of Tom. I like him, but he’s not “my doctor”. Why? Because I also grew up with an obsession for reading. I’ve collected books for over 45 years and my collection currently stands at just under 3000 books, it would be more but over the years I’ve got rid of books as my changing taste and limited space demand. The books I go back to time and again however are the target books and growing upon the 70s I discovered these “other” doctors in those pages. So my favourite doctor growing up? Patrick troughton. He still remains my favourite classic era doctor through the videos, CDs and now DVDs. My friends all vary as well. One is pertwee, several Tom’s of course. One loves Davison others McCoy. And it goes on. All different opinions all just as valid. And then who came back! And now I and my friends have new sets of favourites. Some think Tennant is the best overall, some its capaldi. For me I loved Matt Smith. Given another year of Jodie she could easily become my favourite new who doctor. Now my daughter loves Jodie, but her current favourite is Smith. My son thinks Jodie is the best but he also loves watching pertwee stories. And again everyone is right… there is no such thing as a wrong favourite doctor/companion/monster/era every choice is valid. It’s that that makes these eaglemoss figures so good. Every figure will have an eager audience who can’t wait to get their hands on them. My daughter has asked for and had bought for her figures covering every era that have been released. New series and classic if she likes a character she doesn’t care when the character is from. She is a child of new who, she wasn’t even born when it came back! (Ok now I feel really old all of a sudden) but she’s watched old and new with her parents all her life, and now my son is too.
The negative bias of some fans, especially those who refuse to acknowledge the success of new who is hard to swallow at times. I personally didn’t like many of colin Baker’s TV stories. I enjoyed the 6th doctor and peri, and think they are a good team and good actors, I just wasn’t keen on his TV stories. But, I wouldn’t dream of saying that there should be no figures or merchandise produced from his era nor would I say that somebody who loves that era is wrong. I fully understand that people don’t like everything i like but why the need to shout it from the rooftops? Why be so vitriolic about it? We won’t have new who forever. It will come to a natural end again just as the classic series did. You really should just try to enjoy it while you can… apologies to boo boo for the ramble!

      April 1st, 2019 - 8:41am

and of course people quickly forget the figurine collection has to cater for the worldwide market, nu-who sells much better in the states where the classics have poor a take up (part of the reason why there are no more 5″ classic figures).

Its not just about peoples expectations its also about different markets that have to be catered for.

      April 1st, 2019 - 2:52pm

I love any of the figurines from old or New Who. Its just the quality that concerns me. I gave up on the Drathro figurine due to poor QC on Eaglemoss’ part and is now one of the most wanted missing from my collecton (I had 6 sent and all were in appalling condition). There are plenty they do get right. The daleks especially, since the earlier releases and those earlier Rare subscription Daleks seemed poor in comparison. The Tzim-sha figurine they cant go wrong as it will be an all in one grey spray job. Its just those multi spray or silver Sprayed Specials there always seems to visible imperfections. I wish they could get an handle on this Issue.

Its always the tossup isn,t it. They can either go with most iconic look/ looks or reveal. In this case i would have gone with the face reveal full of tooth trophies but perhaps might have proven too problematic given the timeframe they wanted to get the ones chosen from this season out. Its the same with The Valeyard. i preferred the courtroom cap but they preferred the valeyard ‘Flapping’ on the beach in the matrix because apparently the courtroom version looked dull in comparison and due to Michael Jayston hating the cap. Its also down to what is feasible when they make the decision which look to go for.

Don’t suppose there’s much they can do from series 11. Krasko or Rosa Parks might be good but then again they probably wouldn’t be able to do her as she’s an historical figure. Maybe a postman or the holy alien people who’s name I can say but won’t even try and spell

I,m thinking they might push out a swathe from series 11 like they did with Capaldis final Season, So they could include as mentioned plus a Thijarian and Kerblam Man.

    • The Flying Shark

      March 29th, 2019 - 6:59pm

They could do a Sniperbot, Thijarian, Kerblam man, Morax and the Dalek, plus the frog on a chair if they’re feeling silly. A spider could make a good special, but it’s not very Who-y, and the Pting would be too small unless it was a subscriber freebie or something.

Theres a few figurines we could get.
      We already have 13 and Tzim sha, they usually stick to one per episode, and the only one O cant get something for is ‘The Tsuranga Conundrum’, theres also;
      – The Coily-ball thing that I can’t remember the name off (The woman who fell to earth)
      – The Sniperbots.(The Ghost Monument)
      – The Remenants (The Ghost Monument) (hey, we got casandra and a space pig, so don’t rule something this obscure out)
      – Krasko (Rosa)
      – Robertson (Arachnids in the UK)
      – The Thajarians (Demons of the Punjab)
      – The KERBLAM! Postman (KERBLAM!)
      – The KERBLAM! Work-mates (KERBLAM!)
      – ‘Zombie – Gran’ Mud witch (The Witchfinders)
      – Morax possessed Rebecca Savage (The Witchfinders)
      – Ribbons (It takes you away)
      – I know Booboo mentioned it earlier, but I would absolutely LOOOVVVEEE ‘The Frog’ Solitract Universe (It takes you away)
      – Tzim Sha (updated) (The battle of Ranskor av kalos)
      – The Ux (The battle of Ranskor av kalos)
      – ‘Junkyard-chic’ Recon Dalek (Resolution)

Not to mention if they were to make a Graham, Ryan or Yaz figure at somepoint…
