Usually companies release test issues of any partworks before they get launched nationally. Does anyone know if Eaglemoss have done this already? Tried asking but didn’t get much of a reply (“yes there are plans for a DW partwork to be released in 2013” – no other info)

If not, does anyone know if they’ll allow volunteers to sign up for the test release (even if they’re not in the geographical test release area)?

-Yes, I’m a collector. Including any and all variants that may exist. It can be a bit of an obsession.

They’ve just released the Batmobile partworks (and very nice it is)so I’d say it’ll be a wee while yet.

And they’ve got a Star Trek ship collection and a Hobbit figurine collection coming out as well so who knows when it will eventually show up.

Let’s just hope it isn’t too long.

Yes you should be able to subscribe no matter where you are in the uk. No news as yet as it is still in development when I asked early January and yes they have still yet to do a test launch.

If they did a chess set, they could always have Classic DW as the whites, for example, and Modern DW as the blacks, instead of normal Doctor + Companions against aliens and enemies.

It’s not a chess set, and even then there are problems with classification, Eccelston and Tennant need to be treated as classic in merchandise.

Eaglemoss are using dbfactory for their customer support (or dbfactory’s phrasing- customer ‘experience’). Here’s hoping the level of service improves by the time the DW range is released- I’ve had problems with Eaglemoss’ DC Chess set. Don’t get me wrong, the quality of the product itself is very high, it’s just the customer support that seems to have difficulties whenever anything non-standard occurs(ie reporting problems or correcting information). Just my personal experience- I may simply be unlucky – despite this, I’ll still be subscribing

I agree: The DB Factory fall’s very short on Customer Support & Service considering the problem’s I myself have had with them.

oh no they won’t do that, there already is a chess set for dw, so they won’t do one.

latest is ‘m afraid no details yet…we’ll let you know as we get them.

and for those who missed the confirmation or can’t acess the site

“Yes we are and yes, it’s a figurine collection…some time next year :o)”

I hope it is the figurine collection rather than a chess set.

The chess one will be limited to 32 figures and the chioces will be limited b it as well. A figurine collection is far more flexible and their previous work on the Marvel and DC ranges has been excellent.

I mentioned that I hoped it would be figurine collection and not a chess set, where the repy said it was a figurine collection and NOT a chess set.

Well their Marvel figurine collection is due to finish in May, so that seems a likely time to start up the new Doctor Who range (they’ve finished working on all their figures as far as I can tell).

Still it is quite an interesting set, and hopefully it will be like the Marvel set with the special larger figures for bigger characters so everything is in scale.

Thanks Callum for the information – I’m quite happy with the idea of a figurine collection. I’ll subscribe as soon as it’s available!

I was thinking the other day about a possible new partwork for the 50th anniversary, which surely is a must.

They have done 2 partworks with cards and a DVD partwork, so it can’t be them. The only two other options I could think of is a chess set or a figurine collection. Eaglemoss are known for these so it fits.

which one will it though. Don’t mind either but would prefer figurine collection, however the trouble is there is so much they could choose from.

Have posted on their facebook page asking for more details/confirmation.

should also add that that Gefabbri merged with them, this year I think, so they already do DVD collection.

Well it is better to have too much choice than to have not enough. The problem with the chess set is what would you pick to be your figures? After all, if you have all the Doctors involved then at least three will end up as pawns which will annoy fans of theirs or some will get dropped altogether (or they just go for new series which will annoy the classic fans).

Personally I hope it will be a figurine collection, but the Marvel one is about to finish as they will run into financial difficulties if they continue it for any longer so it won’t

be quite the same as the existing collections (maybe they’ll use a material other than lead).

I’ve seen some of their Marvel figurines (and own a couple) and they have been quite good.

They were a bit pricey though (and their ranges for them are about to end due to high costs) so it will be a case of waiting and seeing what they do.
