I will never understand why everyone rips on ‘The Happiness Patrol’ all the time. It is well acted, vivid characters, a plot/story that keeps you guessing, even the political undertone makes it fun to think of when the government is actually going to try and control your emotions. It is bright and colorful when it needs to be, but also reminds you of death and despair every waking moment. I found the Pipe People adorable, especially when they were copying Ace’s phrases and the scene of Helen A crying over Fifi’s body made me feel sorry for her

Yep The Daleks desrve a palce ther ebut asylum doesn’t. The episode is the worst of series 7. One: dissapointed with no classic daleks and just a special weapons dalek standing motionless. Moffatt completely ruined the story by ignoring the dlakes altogether and just focusing on Oswin, he loves to make episodes complicated and erasing the doctor from The Dalek’s memory banks is idiotic. So it’s a shame The Daleks leave after a terrible closing story.

It’s a shame when there’s actually a lot of things you could do with a great big Dalek prison. That episode didn’t have every dalek ever. Just a lot of bronze ones, and some classic and 2010 ones included. Most people won’t agree with me on this, but it’s also a shame that the 2010 daleks aren’t the standard dalek type anymore. One of the only good parts of that episode was the bit where Rory thinks that the dalek wants eggs。

    • Dalek The Supreme

      July 15th, 2013 - 6:11pm

I found the episode to be highly enjoyable with a complex plot that kept me interested. I love the parts that examine the Doctor’s relationship with the Daleks, showing how he’s practically the devil to them. I found the revelation that Oswin was a Dalek a high point of the story, and while I love the 2010 Daleks, I have to admit they look even more menacing around the bronze. I don’t think the Amy and Rory subplot would have worked with any other characters, and the Daleks forgetting the Doctor made for what I felt was an epic closing scene.

Does anyone else think the ending to asylum was just incredibly cringy when he’s shouting doctor who! Also I can’t stand that bit where Rory says who killed all the daleks and he comes in carrying Amy -_-

Doctor Rules, first question: It’s all down to opinion, but in mine, there is none, and second question: Again, it’s down to opinion, but in mine, it’s second best after Remembrance.

Asylum of the Daleks is the most recent appearance of the Daleks as The Daleks is the earliest, therefore, as these are 50th Aniversery products trying to connect the beginning of the show, they would add both stories. Besides, many other people did like it, myself included.

Kind of annoyed that they changed the cover, sure the bronze Daleks are the current drones, but the Paradigm is the newest model, and my favorite. Oh well, at least no matter what model they decide to put on the cover, it will be a great design.

The Series 5 Supreme Dalek is not only my favorite of the 5 “Dalek Rangers”, but my favorite villain characterwise in Doctor Who. He has all the strengths of the Daleks, but he has guile and intelligence, and outsmarted the Doctor twice in one season.

Asylum of the daleks is one of the worst dr who stories ever!

    • Trenzalore

      July 13th, 2013 - 1:37pm

I agree, one of the things I hate most of all about the episode is the fact that with RTD episodes he had a big army of daleks then the doctor destroys them and thinks they are all dead but one always survives which is reasonable and scary but then Moffat comes along and decides to put a great big dalek asylum and a dalek parlament 😯 you would have thaught we would have heard of this parlament before but no! And that just takes the scariness away they used to be like the ones in the asylum and then suddenly they have a parlament 😡

I didn’t feel as if aslym was good felt really angry and confused after the ep

    • Dalek The Supreme

      July 13th, 2013 - 3:12pm

The Daleks was the earliest story and Asylum of the Daleks is the most recent, they’re trying to tie the beginning of the show with the now of the show by giving us the first (Fully surviving) story the monster debuted in along with their most recent appearance. (With the exception of the Cybermen) Trenzalore, their rank has changed over time, in Evil of the Daleks they were suddenly given an Emperor, and a Supreme Council of the Daleks was referenced in Planet of the Daleks.

    • Jamie

      July 13th, 2013 - 3:16pm

Trenzalore the reason there was a Dalek Parliament and Asylum is that at the end of Victory of the Daleks the Daleks escaped and built a new empire. They escaped using a time corridor so they had plenty of time to create a parliament and Asylum. And im glad they don’t keep getting killed of like in the RTD era, that got annoying after a while The idea of a big Dalek empire out there is scarier than 1 Dalek I think. The Daleks being defeated every time takes away from there threat.

    • Anonymous

      July 13th, 2013 - 4:54pm

The story is filled with plot hole’s, the daleks were under used, the main focus was amy and rory’s marrage which felt more like a soap than dr who and the ending……….. Every time I watch that ending it feels like stevan moffat slaping me in the face

ps there were no classic daleks

    • Trenzalore

      July 14th, 2013 - 10:31am

Jamie, I didn’t know the reason it got there and that’s the reason I didn’t like it because that wasen’t explained in the episode the parlament just popped up (to me). And the asylum must have been there for a while because it had old daleks and looked old in it and we had never even heard of that, if the story would have been better, it should have been a 2 parter. BRING BACK 2 PARTERS!!! if Moffat did this the episodes would be way better 😥 I miss 2 parters 😥

    • Trenzalore

      July 14th, 2013 - 10:33am

Also why was the parlement filled with bronze daleks when in ‘Victory of the daleks’ they were called ‘inferior’ by the rainbow daleks

    • josh smith

      July 14th, 2013 - 3:46pm

they cant seem to make u their mind

    • Dalek sec

      July 15th, 2013 - 8:54am

Actually it was their DNA that was considered inferior not their casings. Other then that they should do more with the New dalek paradigm. All they seem to do is sit there and blurt out orders when they could be cunning, dangerous, and immensely trigger happy. Also if ALL the daleks were destroyed in the Time War why are there classic series daleks in the asylum. And if there was every single dalek there then why not just show it to us (even if it’s only CGI). In my opinion this episode could have been better in alot of ways.

    • Dalek The Supreme

      July 18th, 2013 - 3:15pm

I think they made the Paradigm clever in Victory of the Daleks, where they outwit the Doctor. I would like to see a closer look at the current Dalek hiearchy, thouh, and find out what the Eternal does. The Amy and Rory was a main subplot but not as much as Oswin being a Dalek, besides, if you eliminated the subplot, they’d just stand around and be boring all episode. There are quite a few Classic Daleks if you look closely, and every Dalek in the episode was faced onscreen by every Doctor.

It’s hard to see the merit of these sets. Younger viewers who’ve only seen the revived series may find the classic shows a bit of an acquired taste. This dalek set, in particular, has the earliest and most recent dalek stories only, but misses out all the stories in-between which would have provided a very rewarding decades-long story arc (well kind of, anyway). I think the BBC are going to dilute their sales with these sets, doesn’t make much sense to me.
