The only things missing, IMO are the third eye, and the snout mouth.

I don’t mind too much how they look now. The originals seemed like a bold attempt at having people feel sympathy for a completely inhuman looking creature, while the new ones look more relatable with their more human appearance. I like them about equally.

I think they look pretty cool they are suppose to be like half human half reptile and that is what they are

    • The Greater Intelligence

      July 13th, 2013 - 1:47pm

No they’re not, they are aliens who landed on Earth in its primeval days and called it their homes. When the moon came into Earth’s orbit, they calculated that it would crash into and destroy the planet. They are in no way “Part Human”.

I hate it how they help the Doctor now just like the sontarans

    • Dalek The Supreme

      July 13th, 2013 - 3:23pm

They aren’t aliens, at least I’ve heard nothing identifying them as such, they’re a group of reptiles who evolved into intelligent creatures. I think both Silurian costumes look great.

    • josh smith

      July 14th, 2013 - 8:15am

      there are 3 silrian costumes.

      pertwee ones 5/5
      davison ones 2/5
      new series ones 3/5

    • Dalek The Supreme

      July 15th, 2013 - 6:23pm

Yes, but the Davison ones don’t look all that different to me, especially when you compare his Sea Devils with the originals. I give the Classic Silurians 4/5 and the same for the New ones.

    • Trenzalore

      July 15th, 2013 - 6:25pm

      Pertwee ones: 1/5
      Davison ones 3/5
      New series ones 4/5
I think they have got better and better, so glad I wasen’t the person inside them it must have been so hot 😳

    • josh smith

      July 15th, 2013 - 6:26pm

the pertwee ones were fantastic?! why such a low rating?

    • Trenzalore

      July 15th, 2013 - 6:29pm

Compared to the other ones they were a bit of a mess but I can understand that it was made quite a while ago and kids used to be so scared about them I guess I should give them some slack.
In terms of how good they were for the era they were made for:
      Pertwee ones: 4/5
      Davison ones: 3/5
      New series ones: 3/5

I haven’t actually watched The Silurians, but I listened to the second part of the story on audio that came with my Silurian Pandorica figure, and enjoyed it. It also has The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood, which is a great story with my favorite Doctor that I have seen, so it looks to be a great set.

Oh, The Silurians was a brilliant story! But for the Two-Parter I would have prefered instead Warriors of the Deep, but I guess they needed to have a new who one.

I hate those Silurians, with the good job of the Ice warrior they did, they now need to give the sdame treatment to the Sea devils, it also surprises me that Character/UT haven’t given us classic Silurians yet. Maybe a warriors of the Deep set is in order with the next companion release, I would love a WOTD set with Tegan, Silurian and Sea devil warrior. Then a Logopolis-Castrovalva set with Tegan, Nyssa, Adric and the Master. Maybe a jacketless 5th doctor too.

yes. We need a ‘Underwater Set’ with Tegan, Sea Devil and Silurian- and a ‘Land set’ with Silurians, Sea Devil and The Master (from the Sea Devils) variant.

tbh i am just mad they changed the voice and the claws. i always remember as a kid that i the pelidon stories were some of the best

    • Dalek The Supreme

      July 12th, 2013 - 8:05pm

I think the voices were creepier back in the days of Troughton and Pertwee, but the Classic designs always seemed bumbling to me with lego hands, especially trying to chase Troughton in The Seeds of Death. I LOLed during that scene.

    • josh smith

      July 12th, 2013 - 8:25pm

      the still looked better

they cant even come up with original dead they copied sontaron handds now.

    • Dalek The Supreme

      July 12th, 2013 - 11:22pm

They look more mechanical than Sontaran hands to me, but I see why you would think that. The new ones seem far more tough, stronger, and menacing to me. The voice isn’t is good as it was to me, but I think the design itself is better, as the old ones seemed really fat and ridiculous and not really scary at all to me.

    • josh smith

      July 13th, 2013 - 8:18am

the old ones were better in the pelidon stories.

      July 15th, 2013 - 6:33pm

That’s because, at least in The Curse of Peladon, you were supposed to treat them as main characters, rather than formidable enemies. I prefer the New Ice Warriors, smashing through steel doors like cardboard and blasting down anyone unfortunate enough to get in his way.

then there the same as another creature. at lest in the classic series it was more realistic.

as is the font, and why do they only use the 21st century designs? I know it’s aimed at the young audience who are ‘new to who’ but why not put both designs on the front?

      July 12th, 2013 - 4:32pm

That’s the problem in my case, I think the audience for Doctor who has been aimed younger and younger each series. With the ninth and tenth doctors I was excited for episodes and sometimes scared and on the edge of my seat and the next times were brilliant, I would search the Internet vigorously looking for preview clips and pictures for the next episode but for series 7 part 2, I just haven’t, I’ve come away from each episode thinking, what have I just watched.
I remember when they’re we’re explosions, dark stories, good acting, emotion,

    • Doctor Stu

      July 12th, 2013 - 4:36pm

      Continued
……action and death scenes. But now the target audience is too young. And this is problem that can’t really be solved because as a program’s audience age gets lower its hard to really raise it back up again. I’m being serious now, I would not be surprised if in a couple of years, Doctor Who becomes a feature on CBBC

How you can look at A Good Man Goes To War and A Town Called Mercy and say they’re for kids or watch Matt Smith and call him a bad actor, I’ll never understand.

    • josh smith

      July 12th, 2013 - 8:27pm

town called mercy was bad. it was childish and boring. a good man goese to war was even worse. they have ruined the sontarons foever.

    • Dalek the Supreme

      July 13th, 2013 - 5:55am

A Town Called Mercy portrayed the Doctor as a darker character and put him against his own morals, and I think Matt Smith carried that well, making it one of my all-time favorites. A Good Man Goes To War was about how the Doctor doesn’t save everyone, and how despite all his power and knowledge, he’s still just a man. Strax was undergoing the worst punishment a Sontaran could endure. He didn’t chose to become a nurse, it was punishment thrust upon him by his superiors, and without any orders except from the Doctor, whom he owed,

(Continued), and would have been bound by his sense of honor to repay him, not to mention a chance at actual battle, of course he would go with the Doctor.

    • josh smith

      July 13th, 2013 - 8:19am

sontarons just die they dont become nurses. its absolutely ridiculous.

    • Dalek The Supreme

      July 15th, 2013 - 6:29pm

If you wanted to punish a Dalek, you’d inject DNA from non-Dalek creatures, making it hate it’s own existence. Sontarans love war, and death in battle is the greatest honor a Sontaran can imagine, and a Sontaran would rather be court marshalled than show injury. Helping the weak goes against everything they enjoy, and therefore is the worst punishment they can endure.

    • Trenzalore

      July 15th, 2013 - 6:34pm

I must admit, they have made Sontarons a bit of a joke, every time we see a Sontaron now it’s Strax who is being silly by talking to a lamp post or something 🙄 Back in the day they would make you hide behind the sofa now kids point and laugh at them
