The Invasion was an eight part Doctor Who story made and transmitted in 1968. Written by Derrick Sherwin (from a story by Kit Pedler) it starred Patrick Troughton as the second Doctor. At the helm was Douglas Camfield, one of popular television’s most maverick and talented directors in the 1960s and 1970s. The music was composed by Don Harper, the third Australian émigré composer (after Ron Grainer and Dudley Simpson) to work on the programme.

The master tape of the music for ‘The Invasion’ was lost soon after transmission, but Harper retained a 7½ ips ‘composer’s copy’ that forms the basis of this release. Additionally, the score was augmented by extensive use of electronic sounds by Brian Hodgson of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.

Seems like each release will be a different composer? A ‘Dudley Simpson’ one should be released and the one they should choose is THE AMBASSADORS OF DEATH.

Not many Dudley Simpson score exist, I can recall hearing that they have the complete ‘The Sunmakers’ but don’t know of any more…

That’s a great cover, but the logo just doesn’t stand out at all in white.

One of my main issues is the logo isn’t bold enough on releases without its orange glow. It’s like having the tennat logo (the series 3 onward) in black

Or just solve the problem by putting the Pertwee/McGann logo back on the classic releases. My main worry with the Series 11 logo being put on everything is that it is going to look really out of date 10 years down the line.

This is part of a long running range to release a classic who soundtrack for doctors 1-8 Last year we had Survival and the Daleks, and it is expected to have two more this year

I got last years but do we know what might be coming as well as these two? There was also the krotons and androzani.

It’s a toss up for Pertwee’s ‘Silurians’, ‘Sea Devil’s’, ‘The Mutants’, or ‘Death to the Daleks’. Tome Baker’s ‘Revenge of the Cybermen, ‘The Sunmakers’, or any of his season 18 scores. Peter Davisons is presumably ‘the 5 Dr’s’ release. Colin Baker could be a few, I’m banking on ‘The Two Drs’ or ‘Revelation of the Daleks’. Paul Mcgann, there is only the tv movie with an added suite of ‘night of the Dr” to go at….

I did forget those Ergon, I’ve got them on CD. They may suprise us with something new, I didn’t know they had the soundtracks to ‘The Krotons’ and ‘The Invasion’.
