Dont be. There is an anouncment of some sort regarding missing episodes at a convention in australia in the next 3 weeks. Considering the exec producer of the animation is part of the panel i expect news on it.

Steve roberts just posted on gb forum: I think you’ll find Ice Warriors has moved further back in the schedule. These things happen. It’s one of the reasons we no longer put “Coming Soon” on the trailers, now it’s simply “Doctor Who on DVD”.

do you think it will just be the ice warriors animation announced or will there be others such as the tenth planet and the underwater menace?

      January 30th, 2013 - 6:45pm

Well the discription is as follows: Plus what about all the other incomplete stories, still unavailable, unrestored and unannounced? You want another world exclusive to enviously tell other fans about after the event?

Sounds like more than just 1.

thanks for the link gordon, also, i really think it would not be a wise move to not animate underwater menace and ice warriors. Because if they do put them both together, they wont be able to animate them.

If anybody has seen it can they please put a link thankyou! How are they going to release it If they havent done the animation yet surposserbly? Have they found the missing episodes or are they going to release it without animations! I hope not!!!!!

The only reason why we got them early was test discs for legacy and reign appeared and Roadshow entertainment put it on youtube. We wont get ice warriors till test discs for aztecs appear (and that is if ice warriors is next released after aztecs). Bear in mind test discs for ark in space havent appeared yet

      January 8th, 2013 - 1:07am

Ok thanks @Gordon. What do u think will be released next I think the ice warriors then the mind of evil? If they have finished the colouring for this release! Hopefully it’s getting released in may or if that’s not getting released next then it would be Inferno if I had bet on it to be released in may? What DVDs do u think will be released after the Aztecs.

    • Gordon

      January 8th, 2013 - 1:18pm

There are about 4 slots inbetween aztecs (11 march) and zygons (24 june). I think it could be ice wariors next (1st april). I cant see people being too happy if its another revist (that would be 3 revisits in a row) and there are no other trailers been passed by the bbfc to go on the aztecs disc. Think it will be inferno (22 april) after that(due to the extras being finished for a while) then visitation (13 may). The last remaining one have no idea (3 june). Mind is due to be completed 8th feb but due to them working about 6 months aheaed

id be suprised to see it this half of the year. Would be a nice cross over with the current show if they released tenth planet about this time as the cybermen are due back onscreen about then but i think they are holding it back till november.

    • Connor

      January 8th, 2013 - 8:51pm

I agree with u there. The tenth planet would be great to be released in this half of the year with series 7 cyberman return! But deep down in all whovians hearts we all want it to be released in the 23rd of November! It will be a good happy birthday to classic whovians for this DVD to be released then. I’m planning to buy all the doctor who DVDs by this year! What’s you’r doctor who ambitions for this year!

      January 8th, 2013 - 9:08pm

the ice warriors and the tenth planet are being released sometime this year because in DWM 449 there is an article about production subtitles for dvds and the article states that production subtitles have been written for the future releases of ice warriors and tenth planet.

Really that’s awesome I can’t wait for this DVD release! I love the ice warriors , and the tenth planet is my 5th favourite story of all time! Did they say anything about the animations of the episodes or reconstructions of the story’s? Did they say anything about when they are releasing these DVDs? I hope they get animations and a lot of animations. Hopefully it will be released this year!

    • Gordon

      January 8th, 2013 - 11:54pm

It only listed who did the subtitles and it didnt actually say which year they are coming out. It will be this year though. Conner im just planning on buying the dvds. With holidays and gigs planned for this year i cant afford anything else. Will try and catch up later on

as far as i can see there is only 4 classic episodes that can be completely unscaled to blu- ray. Those releases are the 2 dalek movies(which has been announced for 27th may)sphere head from space (again, has been announced as 15th July) and doctor who the movie, but to upscale that you would need the original prints which the BBC don’t actually know where they are, let alone if they still exist. Correct me if i am wrong but i am preempt sure these are the only 4 episodes that can be unscaled to blu-ray.

also 2 mistakes. i meant to say i am pretty sure and at the end i meant 2 say up scaled to blu-ray. 😆

    • Gordon

      January 2nd, 2013 - 8:38pm

Not quite. Upscaling is more for the standard definition footage. Spearhead the tv movie and the dalek films are the only doctor who footage that can be released in on blu ray in an High def format. You could technicaly put other stories in a blu ray format but it would only be upscaled. There wouldnt be a picture quality improvment (only disc space). However the cost of doing so is current quite expensive and blu ray players automatticly upscale dvds anyway so its not finacilly a worthwhile venture at the moment .

    • drjakeyoung

      January 2nd, 2013 - 9:30pm

i think the same as you, there would be no point in trying to release all the others on blu ray because there would hardly be any improvement. i say for now just stay with these 4 (or 3 if they cant do it with the movie).

smart money is ummm, well for example, it would be smart money to release this DVD around the 50th anniversary because that is the time most people would want to buy this DVD which means they would make even more profit than they normally would which is smart money. It means they would get more money, that is why they call it that.

I know this is off topic, but I had to say that dr who 1999’s definition of smart money is wrong. It is not the BBC using it to get more money, but someone who is knowledgeable, or has some inside information, putting on a bet…that is most likely to win ie. ‘ I found out from the pits that Number 6 is using the new improved tyres, so the smart money is going on car number 6’

I hope that Fraser and Debbie have as well and of course Peter Sallis is still with us, so hopefully he’ll be on it as well. Still, there will be loads of rumours and counter-rumours and I’ll cheer/groan at the appropriate time.

Frazer said recently at a convention he had done a comentary with Sonny Caldinez which must be for The Ice Warriors. Debbie said about 11 months ago that she was doing commentary of 3 eps in april 10th 2012. Might be a bit tricky to get peter Sallis to do a commentary as he is pretty much blind

The trailer I am so excited for and maybe there going to release it when the ice warriors return in series 7 part 2! The ice warriors is the best ice warrior story and it’s very creepy, scary, action packed and brilliant.the seeds of death has the scary, action packed but doesn’t have the fun in it like the ice warriors does. The 1960’s ice warriors were scary and I loved the true evil of there plans!i mean who doesn’t. The Jon pertwee ice warriors were good design and probably the best! But they weren’t evil and that wasn’t good for fans and then the ice warriors died out from the show. But now the ice warriors are returning and hopefully they keep the design!

if ice warriors does have underwater menace ep2 as an extra underwater menace wont be animated.Due to the cost of animation it would need to be given its own release to break even. Out of interest ive heard the budget for reign animated eps was about a fifth of the invasion (about 12k in total)

Would you rather have the ice worriers out on DVD within the next few months with episodes 2&3 missing from the set replaced by fill-ins by The actors, or would you rather wait a year for it to come out with episodes 2&3 animated like the reign of terror is going to be animated. I think that all of the fans of doctor who, who think that this story deserves better than a normal telesnap reconstruction should make 2|Entertian animate this missing gem!

If this is coming out soon (probably very shortly after the aztecs special edition) then i reckon they’re keeping it all very hush hush, so people dont get to excited about it. And if this does get confirmed before the official release of reign of terror, and they have animated the 2 missing episodes, then some people (Not proper doctor who fans) will decide to spend there money of this, as it is a more desired release.
