Original VHS Cover and details..

The TARDIS lands on a planet the Doctor doesn’t recognise – but its inhabitants seem to know him. They think he’s The Evil One and aren’t pleased to see him.

Two warring tribes occupy the planet: the savage Sevateem and the reclusive Tesh, separated from each other by a deadly energy field. When the Sevateem believe their Cod, Xoanon, to be a captive of the Tesh, they decide to break through the barrier and rescue him. The Tesh, however, have other ideas.

Befriended by Leela, a Sevateem girl who dares to question the mighty Xoanon, the Doctor sets out to discover exactly what’s happening on this planet. Has he been here before? Is he responsible for the tribal wars? And can it possibly be that Xoanon, the mad God, is really the Doctor?

Introducing Louise Jameson as the fearless warrior Leela, this thought-provoking story was originally broadcast 1 — 22 January 1977. Includes special bonus interview – Louise Jameson on Swap Shop, originally broadcast 12 February 1977.

£13.97?! That’s really expensive for a DVD! What’s the regular price?

I got it from ASDA on Monday. I was shocked a little at the price, but compared to my local HMV, which had it for about £16.99, it was a bargain really. Same goes for The Sensorites which I got on Thursday. 🙂

£14 quid for a brand new dvd of a very popular show is not really that expensive. Im happy to pay that. I remember when dvds were over 20 quid for 1 disc with no extras. Remember the cost of remastering sound audio and the extras for dvd isnt cheap. They have to make their money back somehow.

13.97 is very cheap compared to some places that are selling it for 19.99 😀

Going by the rate of releases (5 brand new stories which is 3 single releases and a box set)in the first quarter 2012 (january to march) we could potentially have the monthly releases finished by round about march 2013.

    As an example
    2nd quarter
    nightmare in eden
    ace tales
    krotons
    death to the Daleks

    3rd quarterish (july to october)
    planet of giants
    greatest show
    Shada/legacy
    reign of terror

    2013 1st quarter
    ambassadors
    mind of evil
    Zygons
lost in time 2 set (planet menace galaxy 4 warriors)

(galaxy 4 and underwater menace are apparently rumoured for a lost in time 2 box set according to the people involved in finding those episodes and the only other partialy lost stories are 10th planet and ice warriors)
I didnt include any future animated or future revisitations as they wont happen til after the regular monthly releases finish and the rev releases are extra releases anyway. The list isnt fact. Its more to show potentially how close the monthly releases are from finishing.

Looking like the next fourth doctor release will be nightmare in eden. The bbfc has passed the trailer for it so it could possibly be the next release after daemons in mid april going by the current rate of releases.

This episode has one of the greatest cliffhangers of all classic Dr Who in my opinion – the cover sort of gives it away if anybody doesn’t know
