The Next Doctor: It’s Christmas Eve in 1851 in The Next Doctor and Cybermen stalk the snow of Victorian London. When the Doctor arrives and starts to investigate a spate of mysterious deaths, he’s surprised to meet another Doctor (David Morrissey), and soon the two must combine forces to defeat the ruthless Miss Hartigan (Dervla Kirwan). But are two Doctors enough to stop the rise of the CyberKing?

Planet of the Dead:
Starring Michelle Ryan and Lee Evans, Planet Of The Dead was the first of this year’s specials. When a London bus takes a detour to an alien world, the Doctor must join forces with the extraordinary Lady Christina. But the mysterious planet holds terrifying secrets, hidden in the sand. And time is running out, as the deadly Swarm gets closer…

The Waters of Mars:
The Waters of Mars welcomes Lindsay Duncan as the Doctor’s cleverest and most strong-minded companion. The Waters of Mars is a dark, scary thriller that sees the Doctor land on the planet Mars, at a base in peril. A creeping infection beneath the Martian surface threatens not only the human race, but also the Doctor’s most fundamental beliefs. Together with Adelaide Brooke – the base’s commander – the Doctor must stop a seemingly unstoppable menace before it can reach Earth, and wipe out mankind.

The End of Time: Part One:
Join the Tenth Doctor for his final journey in The End of Time Parts One and Two, when his psychotic nemesis the Master has been reborn, on Christmas Eve. With both determined to cheat death, the battle ranges from the wastelands of London to the mysterious Immortality Gate, while the alien Ood warn of an even greater danger approaching, as a terrible shadow falls across the entire Universe.

The End of Time: Part Two: The Doctor faces the end of his life as the Master’s plans hurtle out of control. With the sound of drums growing louder, and an ancient trap closing around the Earth, the Doctor and Wilf must fight alone. But sacrifices must be made, and the deadly prophecy warns: “He will knock four times.”

I wonder why they didn’t re-release this on Blu-Ray, as the first 4 series were released on Blu-Ray around that time I think. Anyway, I’d got The Complete Specials on Blu-Ray and Series 1-4 on DVD on my birthday about 1 or 2 years ago.

I got this from Cash Converters for £8.99. it should have been £9.99, but since I’m such a good customer, she let me have it cheaper. It is amazing, the episode guide is great, but it could have had more special features.

I got this. It’s weird how the two parts of ‘The End of Time’ are on two different discs. Also there is a lot missing. Commentaries, trailers, David Tennants’ voiceover announcement…

The Special features for this Box Set are pretty frail in total, there should have really been much much more. I find that with the Classic Series DVDs, the older releases (before dear old 2]Entertain took over) often had rather dissapointing cover, and looked less good without the too entertain Logo at the bottom of the spine, and the Special features were often CRIMINALLY low, apart from the Two Doctors ofcourse, which had Tonnes and Tonnes of them!!

There were never any Box sets until too entertain took over, were there? Goota go now.

QUESTION: How much does it bother me that The Next Doctor, Planet of The Dead and Waters Of Mars, Two Great episodes, do NOT EVEN HAVE AN AUDIO COMMENTARY?! Answer: ALOT.

I recall (Total Recall ,that was a great movie. Sigh Im so easily distracted.) taht when POTD (no, not Pirates Of The Dead-sea. Im referring to Planet of The Dead you stupid…) was being repeated on BBC something, you could press the red button on your remote control and listen to an audio commentary for that episode with David Tennant, and I think Russel T and J Gardiner were the other two people.

The DV people could have EASILY put that onto the DVD. Did they run out of time or were they just to busy lying in bed when they were meant to be creating a worthy DVD Boxset for the Complete Specials?

But then again why buy it just after recently seeing the specials? Lets wait till March or May. Probably March because thats before the new series comes out.

Nice! I know there wont be one on my Dr who DVD shelf for until about……mayish.
Why? Well it makes sense not to buy a specials box set when you have only recently seen them! By may time it will be more enjoyable to watch them but for now my wallet will be losing weight on the following items:
The four EOT AFs, starting with the gel haired Doctor.
While i buy that, i might spoil myself to death with one Ice Warrior….in addition to two more Ice Warriors! Yes, my bros, the forecast is great:
On jan 15 we can expect half a dozen classic series Dr Who villains and monsters, shortly after Time And The Rani, lets treat our selves to dreamland on DVD.
What did i think of Dreamland? Well, in spite of….wait a sec, this has NOTHING to do with what i think of the Five Specials Box Set! Sheesh one day I could end up writing my life story on this thing.
