Hi all. Just thought I would let you all know, I emailed the company that are doing the Complete History and they emailed my back saying

DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES WE HAVE BEEN FORCED TO SUSPEND PUBLICATION OF THE SERIES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

I wonder why this is BooBoo do you have any information about this. It was due to come out in the beginning of September and now they are saying this. What’s your opinion on this.

Is it a good omen when the advert says “Register YOU Interest” instead of “Register YOUR Interest”????

The latest issue of DWM confirms that this collection will launch in September, so looks like it passed its test launch.

Well complete surprise today – had issue 1 delivered! Came with a letter telling me that the test run has ended and thank you for my interest. They are hoping to launch nationally later on but have sent first issue as a thank you for my support. So, we’ll see what happens when/if it is launched nationally.

      Same here 🙂
Having seen an issue I have to say I am hoping even more now that this is followed through – book looks excellent!
Fingers crossed and as someone else said I guess it would make sense to launch nationally when the new series airs

If they are not sending out subscriptions to non test areas yet then they should state that and not telling rubbish about having no stock.

      Well just received this e-mail from Hatchette after countless e-mails asking what is happening with my subscription;

“We would like to thank you for your enthusiasm and support for the Doctor Who Book Collection Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have been forced to suspend publication of the series until further notice.

We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and hope that it has not affected your support for the publication in the future. Please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service Department on 03333001510 should you have comments or queries.”

I’m guessing there wont be a national release then 🙁

    • booboo

      June 10th, 2015 - 8:55am

      not sure

maybe that’s what they say at the end of the test although it would be hardly unforeseen

      have to wait and see

I wouldn’t worry Timelord63, that’s the pretty standard message part-work publishers send out at the end of test-period (included use of the familiar words ‘suspended’ and ‘unforeseen’).

The line ‘your support for the publication in the future’ is a bit of a hint too.

I strongly suspect this will go to national release, probably in the Autumn when the new season airs. It is possible us early subscribers might not received anything ’til then.

Oh, dear! I had thought with a different company doing this we would not have the same problems as Eaglemoss/Database Factory. Will have to see what happens?

    • booboo

      May 20th, 2015 - 12:48pm

a think issue 4 is in the test area shops

could it be subscriptions will be held over until national release

    • PVW

      June 4th, 2015 - 11:49am

I emailed before subscribing and was told issue 1 was available immediately
After no reply for weeks I was told it would be up to 28 days
That time passed and I was next told it was in transit
Now having not received anything I am told that it has been suspended
Lies and Damnation – I stated that I am not impressed as a customer who has signed up to potential £800 spend they can’t even tell you anything proactively and to bare face lie!
At least to be sent a copy of the first issue which has been produced would be small comfort but nothing :((((

    • booboo

      June 4th, 2015 - 11:53am

that’s the problem with these test issues (which are necessary)

most subscribers dont know its a test, or even if they do things dont happen as the blurb suggests so when it doesn’t work out its very frustrating.

    • PVW

      June 4th, 2015 - 11:57am

The thing is I did know it was in test which was why I emailed first
I was going to wait for national release and get the first few copies in the shop to evaluate it first
But when they said it was available immediately I was hooked like a sucker lol
I understand the test thing etc – just don’t like the repeated lies 🙁

    • booboo

      June 4th, 2015 - 12:04pm

      its very frustrating i know

I suppose customer support they have their standard script to work to across the board. I doubt they actually know what’s really going on behind the scenes.

I’m getting the impression that subscribers issues were from unsold returned shop stock hence the delays, and perhaps not enough returns to cover subscribers at all.

i have yet to hear of anyone who has got a subscribers issue to be honest.

    • cjayp33

      June 4th, 2015 - 4:35pm

The thing with all Partwork test lunches is that they only really make enough stock for the shops therefore meaning there is little to none available to subscribers. This is why if you subscribe to test launch series you won’t receive any issues or if you do they will be damaged. You will get told lies such as out of stock/no stock, its on its way because they don’t want to reveal the real reason which is you were never going to get any issues when you subscribed to the test series as all stock is for the shop.

The same thing happened to me with the figurine collection where after countless emails back and forth was told ” As I am sure you have been told we have no stock at this time. During the test we get little or none.”

    Booboo,
I have subscribed to the book collection. If this is a test run and they make a few changes to the collection for example. Would they send the updated versions to the test subscribers free of charge or is this just to see how many to print when it rolls out across the U.K or both?

They should start over again and give those who have paid the “correct” run

However as these are quite high cost items it wouldn’t surprise me if the run stayed the same.

Not heard of anyone getting subs copies yet

If you’ve started collecting the figurine collection, and getting this means you’d have to stop – don’t!

Once you start collecting something, you should finish your collection. Especially if you aren’t sure the thing you are stopping it for is worth it!

I think you answer your own question.

Will I need to re-buy the non-test issues when they’re released? Is there any point in subscribing at the moment?

I picked up #1 of their Judge Dredd series, (not realising, at the time, that I was in the test area), and I noticed that the spine art was changed on the relaunch three months later. So it’s possible that test copies won’t match up on that point.

I know Monster invasion Changed the order but dont know what happened to the test subscribers, and some of the free gifts changed.

I think its fair to say the figurine test subscribers ended up with an inferior 11th Doctor than the national release subscribers

    • Janet

      April 18th, 2015 - 2:29pm

Just did a search and found that the Dredd collection ran four issues as a test.
When it was relaunched, test subscribers received the new #1-4 free.
