Season 26 features four epic adventures traversing a future Britain invaded by inter-dimensional knights, a strange Victorian house haunted by ghosts from Ace’s past, an alien world populated by Cheetah People and a 1940s army camp under siege from monstrous vampires.
With guest stars including Nicholas Courtney (Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart), Anthony Ainley (The Master), Jean Marsh, Nicholas Parsons, Anne Reid, Ian Hogg, Sylvia Syms and comedy duo Hale & Pace, this fondly-remembered set of stories saw the end of an era for Doctor Who, and set the stage for its hugely successful revival.

December 4th, 2019 - 11:47amShould we be expecting an announcement in the next week or two for the first (official) box set of 2020 or will the Season 26 delay have had a knock-on effect?
SamWho
December 4th, 2019 - 11:56amIt’s hard to tell we will just have to wait and see it might not matter when it’s delayed they probably have a schedule for Doctor Who announcements in general

November 17th, 2019 - 8:47pmHow come zoom is still having the same release date as before?
Lee
November 15th, 2019 - 2:20pmGood move imo! The Dec 23rd date was a silly date to release it in the first place. I doubt anyone ordering from anywhere other than Amazon would have got their orders on time due to the christmas post anyway.
Amazon customer would have probably been okay as they don’t use Royal Mail.
It would have caused annoyance with some getting them on time and others having to wait until after Christmas. At least this way everyone should get them around the same time.

November 12th, 2019 - 1:52pmDelayed till January 20th now.

November 12th, 2019 - 4:52pmThis is disappointing news. Not because I want to buy it . It just means will have to wait longer for the next release. Hopefully another Jon or Tom.
Things that go bump in the night
November 11th, 2019 - 5:48pmAnyone else picked up that Amazon is now showing the release date of this set has moved to January 20, 2020?
Any concurrence of the delay from any of the other dealers or the Interweb…
Thanks
SamWho
November 11th, 2019 - 6:52pmYes i think we all knew 23rd December was unlikely but it’s a shame if it’s delayed by nearly a month and it’s better they take there time and make sure it’s the best it can be

November 11th, 2019 - 8:59pmZoom is still showing 23/12/19.

November 11th, 2019 - 9:58pmAmazon confirmed in an email that the release date was delayed by the distributor.

November 11th, 2019 - 11:15pmIt’s disappointing but that initial release date was always going to be problematic (in order to get to people for Christmas). Perhaps they should press the S12 re-release early to fill the delay gap. 😉

November 12th, 2019 - 6:31amVery disappointing, but let’s be honest we were all expecting this. Really glad that this wasn’t going to be purchased as a December present! If anyone who can influence these things is reading this please can you sort this out going forward and actually stick to a release date. This is unprofessional and not funny anymore!

November 21st, 2019 - 10:20pmPerhaps next time before a release date is announced to the public the people concerned should simply add 2 or 3 weeks to what they were about to say and perhaps the date might actually be met!

October 20th, 2019 - 6:56pmLee binding has been answering questions today regarding his art and the season boxsets. Worth asking him something, hes talked about the 2 doctors in 1 season debate.
David
October 20th, 2019 - 8:59pmWhat did he say??
BtsR
October 20th, 2019 - 11:43pmIt’s still on his Instagram story. It’s only short but he said how hes not looking forward to doing season 4 because not everyone will be happy. Later on he said that there is a way to include both doctors but has decided against doing so but has said that the missing doctor will be referenced elsewhere on the set just not on the cover. Also hes currently working on the next 3 sets artwork and last bits of season 26.

October 10th, 2019 - 8:03pmSo what is the difference between the VHS extended versions and the DVD special editions please is there much more footage on the VHS ones?
Thanks
Gordon
October 10th, 2019 - 10:00pmThe vhs versions are extended episodes. The special editions are feature length movie versions of the episodes
MIKK89
October 10th, 2019 - 10:32pmIf i remember correctly having owned both stories on both VHS and DVD at one point in time, the VHS episodes were released as a sort of extended edit akin to what they Did with Season 23 only deleted/alternate scenes added. The DVD versions of both had had standard transmission versions of the two serials on DVD 1 and DVD 2 featured a feature-length extended version that included more deleted and alternate scenes, swapped some stuff round to help narrative flow more fluidly and new visual effects and music. Plus optional 5.1 Surround Sound. Hope this helps.
Bobby Fackrell
October 11th, 2019 - 5:42amThanks I’ve seen the DVD versions I was specifically wondering about the content; are there any deleted scenes on the VHS versions which were not on the DVDs or are they essentially the same?
Bobby Fackrell
October 11th, 2019 - 10:02pmThanks MIKK89 it helps a lot, so no real benefit in the VHS versions I think I shall watch the DVD special editions on blu ray on my Christmas Eve binge! Can’t wait love series 26 fond childhood memories of it
MIKK89
October 12th, 2019 - 1:04amCan’t entirly remember with ‘Battlefield’ as the length of the extended episodes was similar to the feature-length DVD version and only seemed to rearrange scenes and add new CGI. But ‘The Curse of Fenric’ included scenes not in either Original Transmitted Version or VHS Extended as well as CGI. It was done to Director Nicholas Mallets original plan to Release COF 1993 on VHS (akin to The VHS release of ‘The Five Doctors: Special Edition’) however due to certain problems that never really surfaced never came to fruition, and then Nicholas Mallet Passed in 1997. The Feature Length COF was re-edited was overseen by Mark Ayres using his and Nocholas’s Notes…

October 20th, 2019 - 8:07pmI’d love it if they did “special edition” titles for them like with Terror of the Vervoids.

October 7th, 2019 - 9:18pmNo.

September 29th, 2019 - 1:28amDo you think its likely well see “Dimensions in time”, “death comes to time” web animation and
“more than 30 years in the tardis doc” in this set somewhere ?
Seems like the best places to put them or 30years doc on silver nemesis/season 25. One thing I’d say to Russell minton is yes new documentaries are nice but give us some stuff that never got released too.
Gordon
September 29th, 2019 - 10:25amDimension in times is unlikely to be cleared. Tons of red tape plus the rights holders are asking an extortionate amount to use the footage. Death comes to time and more than 30 years will most likely appear on a potential wilderness years set
David
September 29th, 2019 - 11:56amThey are unlikely to be on this set – certainly “Dimensions in Time” is very unlikely to be released at all, given the contracts in place and cost of clearing the material through “Children in Need”. There has been speculation that there might be a “Wilderness Years” collection including the TV Movie, “More Than 30 Years in the TARDIS” and other material such as the “Doctor Forever” documentaries which appeared on some of the later Special Edition DVD releases.

Gordon
September 29th, 2019 - 10:51amSeason 1. The Daleks
2. The chase
3. The ark
4. There is nothing complete
5. Tomb of the cybermen
6. The mind robber
7. Spearhead
8. Autons
9. Sea devils
11. Dinos (new models would work better than cg imop )
13. Zygons
14. Robots of death
15. Underworld
16. Pirate planet
17. Nightmare in Eden
20. Snakedance
21. Warriors from the deep

24. Paradise
25. Remembrance

October 5th, 2019 - 1:20pmGonna have to disagree with you Gordon, I reckon season 24 will be time and the Rani and season 25 will be silver nemesis
Seth
September 25th, 2019 - 6:48amWould Season 8 possibly be saved for the last of the Pertwee seasons? I was wondering because it is packed full of 3’s most famous story’s.
The Flying Shark
September 25th, 2019 - 8:06amPerhaps 7 will be saved for last as the seven parters have very poor colour quality apparently and will need a lot of work, plus it will be tricky to make new extras as the main cast have all passed on. Season 8 has some colour issues too so that will probably be second to last-either 9 or 11 for Pertwee will be next, I bet 11 as Sarah Jane will be a big selling point to new who fans, plus it’s been demanded for a long time to get new CGI on Invasion of the Dinosaurs.
The 14th doctor
September 25th, 2019 - 10:59amSeason 11 would be fantastic!!!!!!
So if the rumours are correct then we should be getting: season 14, season 6 ( hopefully), season 21 and season 11!!!
We are in for a good year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anonymous
September 25th, 2019 - 2:02pmSeason 9 next for Pertwee as they’ve been to the location for the sea devils.
The 14th doctor
September 25th, 2019 - 5:39pmEven better!!!
Pete X
September 25th, 2019 - 9:27pmI reckon that season 8 will be released in 2023 (the 60th anniversary year) as well as seasons 1, 16 and 20.

September 22nd, 2019 - 12:13pmhas anybody heard any other rumours about other classic blue ray boxset like season 26?
Gordon
September 22nd, 2019 - 4:05pm14 is rumoured for February. Anything beyond that is guesswork
I do guess we will get a 60s set. 2 or 6 is my guess. 2 is most ready but with it being Troughton’s 100th birthday 6 has a small possibility
We should be due another Davison so either 20/21
Another pertwee will probably happen as well. Either
Gordon
September 22nd, 2019 - 4:32pmEither 9 or 11 for pertwee
Anonymous
September 22nd, 2019 - 4:51pmThere’s rumours that Season 14 is next, but there’s also rumours that Season 6 is coming for Patrick Troughton’s 100th birthday which would have to be next to actually meet the date in March.
Gordon
September 22nd, 2019 - 7:49pmIt doesn’t need to come out on his birthday to be part of his 100th birthday celebration. That can still come out in the same year. I fully expect the faceless ones to be released on his 100th birthday so I don’t think it needs to have season 6 come out exactly on his birthday
