Hope they do this style for Series 8 – 10. They probably will do this when Series 11 is released on DVD & Blu-Ray.

God, I hope so. That’s what I’m waiting for. Although, I must admit, I do already have the original releases of series 7 and 8. I’m hoping that they’ll do it for Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor as well, once she leaves. (You know, in about 5-6 years time.)

If anyone hears anything about this, please reply.

Now we know when Capaldi is leaving do you think we can see a Series 8, Series 9 and Series 10 re release to fit in with the others?

Do you think they would do a DVD re-release of The Day of the Doctor and The Time of the Doctor in this format. The 2013-specials boxset. It would fit nicely rather than have the 8 sets followed by TDOTD and TTOTD out of line.

It’s unlikely as those sets were limited collector’s editions. Although, if you have one, you may decide to customise it to fit in with the others.

I’ve just watched a youtube video reviewing the series 1 re-release. It is basically 5 discs contained inside a single dvd case. There is an episode guide booket and the dvd case is concealed inside a slipcase. I WANT THEM!!!

      And?…….

How are the DVDs presented? In plastic cases like classic box sets or the usual typical stuff like a complete series box set?

Has anyone bought one of these re-releases because nobody seems to know ANYTHING!!!

They are presented in a standard dvd box with between 5 and 6 discs inside, and all have a cardboard slipcase. The boxes are the size and depth of a standard dvd box, so are MUCH thinner than the original box sets. I have bought series 1 & 2 in this format. They look hot!!

Nice as it is for them all to be uniform with the same logo, I actually quite like the new series box sets having their respective logos. I also think that the (in this case ally rather beautiful) cover art looks lots better with the new series logos.

If anyone (and i mean anyone) gets hold of one of these re-releases. Please tell us what their like: are there plastic cases or boxset usual? Are they classic dvd range worthy? Special features? Anything else?

    PLEASE

My grandad records them off the television and sends them to me. Later, when the volumes come down in price I purchase them. When the uniform classic DVDs end we have a choice of whether we go for a slightly unifomish volumes or out-of-order and miscellaneous boxsets for the new series. If these re-releases have plastic cases like the classic era – I’ll buy them. If not- it will take some careful consideration…

I am so happy with these releases, as since 2005, I’ve been purchasing the “Volume” individual releases, and recently I did want to buy all the “Complete Series” box sets, but I’ve never liked how non-uniform and fat some of them look, so this is perfect! I shall most certainly be buying all of these over the coming months!!

Will they still all be fold-out digipacks like the original releases, or have they been put into sturdy plastic cases now?

So is this just re-packaging, or are these stripped down without all the extras?

I like the new, more consistent theme. I hope the series 8 DVD gets a similar cover

Probably not, not until the end of Capaldi’s tenure anyway.

I think what they’ve done is try and make them like the classic DVD’s with the same logo (don’t see why people are making a fuss about it, we’re all fine with the classic DVD’s having the same logo) as well as the years at the top.
May get one or two of these.

Because the logo used to many of us fan’s represents the classic series of Doctor Who, not the new series.

Some may say 9,10 and 11 are now classic Doctors…

      I find it rather annoying when they say those three are classic Doctors. The way I, personally, view them is like this;

Hartnell – McCoy are the Classic Doctors
Eccleston – Capaldi (and beyond) and the New Doctors
McGann and Hurt and the Mid-Doctors. I don’t see them as either classic, nor new.

But in time of the doctor he gets a whole new regeneration cycle so technically dr no.1-dr no.11 are now classic doctors

      That’s not how the classification works. It was always;

      Classic Doctors = Original run
      New Doctors = Revived run.

And in my opinion, that’s how it should stay. That’s how I think of them.

Sam what if it was stopped and started again what would you call them then

    • booboo

      August 2nd, 2014 - 9:59am

      classic
      heritage
      new

yes technically its all one show but it think most people split it into two categories

Had a feeling the last of these re-releases was gonna keep the original series 7 cover.
