Doctor Who – Series 1 [DVD] Re-Release

dvd new (7)Doctor Who – Series 1 [DVD] Re-Release Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor is wise and funny, cheeky and brave. An alien and a loner (it’s difficult keeping up with friends when your day job involves flitting through time and space), his detached logic gives him a vital edge when the world’s in danger.

But when it comes to human relationships, he can be found wanting. That’s why he needs new assistant Rose. Rose (Billie Piper) is a shop-girl from the present day. From the moment they meet, the Doctor and Rose are soul mates.

They understand and complement each other.

As they travel together through time, encountering new adversaries, the Doctor shows her things beyond imagination. She starts out as an innocent, unfettered by worldly concerns. But she ends up an adventurer who, by the end of the series, can never go home again…

HMV doesn’t have an online shop anymore. I’ve spotted the Series 7 version of this in my local HMV so I’d assume they will stock it

Just got mine from base.com on saturday. Both Series 1 and 3. Nice packaging with card sleeve. Series 1s discs have been updated design wise. Really nice sets.

Thanks for the info but how are the discs stored?
Plastic cases like the classic series or the usual boxset stuff?

Are they like the series 1-specials sets with the fold out parts. Or like the 5-7 with the book style? Or just a plastic case with hinged disc holders?

I do like the cover, like the covers to the monster classic/current compilation releases from last year. Very eye catching.

I’m not liking this new artwork.

I’ll stick to my thinner re-release of the original artwork, autographed by Camille Coduri (Jackie Tyler). 🙂

Like this new style, just the question as to what’s inside the new boxsets:

1: Separate DVDs with similar logo or classic dvd style
2: Plain old box set interior

    Thumbs up for 1!!!!!! 😀

These are so close to being the classic style DVDs of Doctors Nine and on that I’ve wished for for years, and yet so far…

Hopefully after the series 1-7 box set blu ray we get series 1-4 of who rereleased on blu ray as that would be better than doing another rerelease of the dvd.

Not keen on the cover. Got the wrong logo for starters, should be the 2005 logo, and the Dalek ships to me don’t match those seen in the 2005 finale ‘Bad Wolf / Parting of the Ways’.

This logo is being used on Classic Merchandise. The RTD era is considered ‘Classic’ when it comes to Merchandise

The Big Finish remit only extends to the classic series, so why can’t they make audios for the RTD era then?

I think that although all past Doctors are now considered classic in terms of merchandise, this is more for packaging wise, and hasn’t been implemented into Big Finish’s contract. At least not yet. It might happen soon, considering we’re getting a lot of repackaging/rebranding recently.
