Hello – it’s not a W H Smith exclusive – I’ve even seen it in my local newsagent. You can also subscribe to Doctor Who magazine and get it included in your subscription deal (for a bit extra obviously).

I got this today from WH Smith, I think it’s a great read and well worth £5.99.

I don’t get people’s complaints about this – yes, it doesn’t cover many episodes, but considering there were only two full episodes, a docudrama and some extras, it is very in-depth. There is a lot of detail here. Plus, THAT COVER! Too much focus on The Day of the Doctor for my liking, but it is beautiful.

To be fair, most people have fully explained their reasons.

Mine is because they didn’t even cover the Big Finish stories, and DWM normally always do that

Are there many pictures-like, on average, a lot, or a little, for a magazine?

This is brilliant! 😀 I couldn’t stop reading it. Can’t understand the negative comments against this 🙁

So far i have read detailed accounts of:
    The night of the dr
    The day of the dr
    The time of the dr
An adventure in time and space
    The five ish drs. Reboot

And currently reading through Dr who proms
£5.99 well spent seeing as normal dr who mags are £4.99 now for an extra £1 you can’t really go wrong with this 🙂

Delighted that you’ve enjoyed it so much. The remit is – in theory – to cover only the television broadcasts, but I wanted to cram as much detail on as many transmissions as possible into what pages we had available. So glad that I managed to cover a lot of what interests you.

      All the best

Bought it and feel let down, they could have at least mentioned the Big Finish anniversary stories

Not worth buying this in my view.

I took a look at a copy today in WH Smith. Just detailed –

The Night of the Doctor Mini-sode.
    The Day of the Doctor.
An Adventure in Space and Time.
    The Five-ish Doctors reboot.

There’s nothing else worth getting it for. It would have been nice if some pages talked about the 50th Anniversary merchandise, events like the 50th Anniversary celebration at the London ExCel centre, or the things we fan’s did to celebrate the 50th during 2013 on sites like YouTube or Deviant Art.

      Not really it’s not.

In fairness, Andrew Pixley has said on Gallifrey Base that he did write longer articles on most if not all of the things you mention, but they were excised or shortened in favour of including more detail on the main anniversary programming due to having to stick to a certain page-count. It’s important to remember that this guide is part of a series that have focused entirely on televised Doctor Who, so that will have the main priority when it comes to deciding which content makes it into the final magazine.

They very specifically state in the magazine they were only looking at things that were broadcast and only the major parts of the BBC (so none of the local stuff).

Really? Disappointing if so – previous Special Editions don’t seem to have been. I’ve had to pick them all up from a small independent newsagent not far from my parents’ house, as no WH Smith’s where I am seem to actually stock them.

Thanks for the clarification, guys – was able to pick this up from the usual newsagents with no problem. Have read through a good chunk of it and am loving it so far – easily as interesting as previous volumes in the series. = )

It is an special from DWM which is rather big (same size as the regular issues). They have been doing them for every doctor and would be silly not to do the 50th anniversary.
