Did anyone else notice that the next issue is £5.99 even though its not a special issue with a poster or whatever – i hope that isnt the magazines normal price!

I was charged £5.99 at Sainsburys for each issue as I got all 4. I noticed the cover price is £4.99 so the assistant refunded me the difference. This was either a Sainsburys error or a wrong bar code for a special issue.

Thats interesting as when i went to sainsburys i had to wait a week to get it even though they had it in the back because of a pricing error

I bought my copy today. And I got the cover I wanted…even though my shop only had two to choose from. I got the classic Tenth Planet and Moonbase Cybermen…My favourite versions of the Cybermen. The Cybermen were at their most effective in black and white.

Now i’ve studied the Revenge cover. It’s the heads that are the problem. They are too small for the size of the body.

Let’s hope it is these covers, because for 25 years the Revenge Cyberman has been my favourite ( I know others who think the same) – the right balance between old and new design. The only ones that have come close are the Nightmare Cyberman and the Silver (for shiny-ness and deep voice)

I really like these covers. Cybermen were always great foes of the Doctor’s. What is everyone’s top 5 Cybermen stories. Mine are 1) The Tomb of the Cybermen. 2) Earthshock. 3) The Moonbase. 4) The Invasion 5) The Tenth Planet.

Earthshock, The Invasion, The Tenth Planet, Tomb of the Cybermen, The Next Doctor. (Sorry, but i love the Cybermen tramping about the snowy grave yard)

Oh my God! I completely forgot about the Next Doctor – love that too!

Mine would be Earthshock, Tomb of the Cybermen, Attack, Revenge and probably Invasion.

Revenge, Nightmare in Silver, The Invasion, Earthshock, Silver

The Tomb of the Cybermen is a greater story than any I have listed above, but perhaps others show Cybermen at their best. Of course there is that classic scene of the emergence, unfortunately the voices are not clear to everyone.

      October 1st, 2016 - 2:30pm

I didn’t feel ‘The Invasion’ showed the Cybermen at their best, even though it is a superb story. Like ‘Tomb of the Cybermen’, ‘The Invasion’ has an equally classic scene of Cybermen stepping down from St Paul’s. But for a story that lasts 8 episodes, the Cybermen hardly feature prominently until the last episode.

When they’ve done multi-covers in the past few years, my mate and I (we both subscribe) always get different ones. I’m not so sure they have a definite policy of only sending subscribers design #1?

    • When The Doctor Was Me

      September 21st, 2016 - 10:16am

I never get cover 1 as a subscriber. I got the Tennant cover for issue 485 and the the angels take manhatten cover for issue 452.

      What made you think that?
Doctor Who started 23rd November 1963, and was on a weekly basis. By January 1964 Doctor Who was only partly into it’s second story, ‘The Daleks’.
Also, I thought everyone knew the Cybermen first appeared in Hartnell’s final story, he didn’t play the Doctor for less than 2 months!

    • Gareth Pugh

      September 20th, 2016 - 10:52pm

I think that’s what we might be getting. If you look at the ‘Coming Soon’ section of the last issue if DWM, issue 506 (the one out in November) is at the higher price of £5.99 again. When they’ve charged that for a couple of issues recently, they’ve included a poster and some art cards. I’m wondering if they might be doing something like that using some of the animation from Power as a bit of a celebration of the release?

    • Gareth Pugh

      September 20th, 2016 - 10:53pm

Sorry my reply there was to Stike’s post!

    • Gareth Pugh

      September 20th, 2016 - 10:56pm

Of course, on the other hand, that could just be an increase in the normal price. Editor Tom Spilsbury has warned on the Gallifrey Base forum a few weeks back that Panini’s head office in Italy have instructed them to increase prices shortly and that as a result it won’t be £4.99 for much longer. We’ll see soon.

DoctorWhoFan1, I don’t know but I think they might be inclined to give the October release’s cover over to Class, given that it’s launching then. But a TW10 article inside would be a good idea…

Blimey, I didnt realise these were CGI , i assumed they were models like using the Character Options figures in dioramas.

Might look better printed up. fingers Xd

I do hope this isnt just a retread of the Cyberman Essential edition, although I realise there has to be some cross pollination, due to DWM/Panini and not much new to say that hasnt been said before. Hopefully The Wheel in space DVD gets announced as the next Animation fingers XXd 🙂

Despitw having said that the cover art doesn’t look very good, I actually really like the cover art with The Tenth Planet and The Moonbase designs on the front. I may pick that up.

I believe the box set compiling the Cyberman series was Big Finish’s tribute, but that was released a while ago. I’m not aware of any other commemoration, but I do hope for one.

The worst covers DWM has had in ages. They look sort of cartoon like rather than metallic. When you consider all the great Dalek ones they produced in recent years it’s a poor showing.

Hopefully there might be a different exclusive subscribers cover.
