The Book – Doctor Who: Cyberman

By www.richarddinnick.com

Despite their appearance, the Cybermen are not robots. They were once humans, but have used cybernetic parts to replace limbs and organs, augmenting their organic brains with implants and computer programming.

They are silver giants, encased in mechanical survival suits with their trademark “ear handles” the only aspect of cyber design that has not changed over the years.

The other aspect that remains constant is their lack of emotion and their reliance on logic.

cyber-busts-complete580

So near yet so far– many customisers had hoped this would be a good base for a 5″ Cyberman but sadly its just a little to large, although some may consider it better than nothing!

Image for size comparison only, Bust wont fit over any existing figure as it stands.

      I got mine from SuperBookDeals – a vendor on Amazon UK – £1.84 + £2.80 p & p. That’s the cheapest I’ve seen them.

The Dalek is disproportioned but not badly. It is quite good quality for the money. The Tardis is very good especially with the light. Again good quality at the price.

I wonder when someone will have the idea of producing a box set with a figure of every variant of cyberman specifically for display…..Ive given up on Characters options and underground toys and whoever backs them completing the set now…..

The face looks disproportionate and it’s smaller than I expected. Saying that, it is fairly cheap. Hm.

Agree. The old ones were best but the last design was ok. Cannot understand why change. We’ll perhaps I can, it’s called merchandise.

The 2006 cybermen were just blend in my opinion. These new designs actually remind me of the classic series cybermen. They were pretty awesome. The perfect cybermen would be a mix of the tenth planet and nightmare in sliver designs in my opinion. Nevertheless Daleks are superior to the cybermen in every way. We have a bigger audience!!

you probably bought a cards inc bust, they did Jabe and slitheen and they were sold of really cheaply, they were excellent, several inches high

this one is small and no comparison to those, these sell for £6-£7 but you do get a small book as well

    • HornsOfAzal

      September 25th, 2013 - 3:08pm

Yes thats the one the busts of Jabe and the slitheen were good but I didnt like either character – the cyberman one was a superb bargain for the price I got it for….One of the few new series pieces of merchandise I like.

    Lovely models…, I have these.

    The Cyberman is nice.

The clear and overt ‘Iron Man’ influence on the design of the new Cybermen annoys me, however. Another problem I had with them was that they were too small….! The Cybermen should always be taller than almost everyone else.

That was something I liked about the ‘Cybus’ Cybermen- they looked formidable and were big!

I am glad I am not the only one who thought this. I would go as far as saying that they are also starting to look a bit like Twiki from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.
Younger members may like to Google “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century” to see what I am talking about.

I saw the Dalek/TARDIS boxes in FP, They were SOOO TINY! No sign of a Cyberman tho… 🙁 They were both the same scale in height, I highly consider the Cybermen busts to be small, (Just a little taller than the new 3.75″ figures)

They’re the mondas cybermen anyway, not the parallel world ones. And i really like them, they won’t do that ridiculous stomp anymore which is great and they are more flexible. Plus they have related it back to the tomb of the cybermen design.
